C :: Convert List Of Names From One Text File To Email Format In New File

Jan 19, 2014

I have almost a hundred names in a text file that I want to convert to email addresses and save to another file. I seem to have it working, but it doesn't print the full names in the email prefix. The output I'm looking for is Doe_John@livebrandm, but I'm only getting D_J@livebrandm. I'm not sure what I should specifically be reading up on that applies to this directly.

Code:

#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
int main(void)
{
FILE *fpin=fopen("namesIN.txt", "r");
FILE *fpout=fopen("emailOUT.txt", "a");
char first[20],last[20],inbuff[1500];

[Code]...

C :: Create A File And Save Text In It In PDF Format

Feb 13, 2014

My objective is to create a file and save some text in it. But the twist is that file should be created in pdf format.

I have written following code:

Code:
#include<stdio.h>

Code:
int main() { FILE *fp;
char ch;
fp=fopen("file.pdf","w");
fprintf(fp, "%PDF-1.3"); //to initiate data storage in pdf file
printf(" Enter data to be stored in to the file:");
while((ch=getchar())!=EOF)
putc(ch,fp);
fclose(fp);
return 0;}

Now my file is created in pdf format, but when I open it by double click on it, it is not open and gives the message like: "Error in opening document. This file is damaged and could not be repaired."

C++ :: Arrange Names Alphabetically From A Text File

Feb 25, 2013

I'm trying to arrange names alphabetically from a text file. Inside my textfile, it's like : "John", "Edward", "Peaches", "Anna"... etc.(It has thousand more names, all with quotations, separated by comma and I think it's not typed line by line... but using only one line). How can I read each name separately?

this code, it works if the text file contains names separated by lines and without commas and quotations. I do not know with the case I've stated above.

string numbers[1000];
string line;
string number;
string y;
string x;
int z = 1;
ifstream myfile;
myfile.open("names.txt");

[Code]...

This only shows the data inside text file. I'm new in c++.

C++ :: Convert Text File Containing 0 And 1 To Binary File

I just wrote a program for Huffman Encoding, where I take a text file, encode it in the form of 0's and 1's, and save that as another text file. However, this does not solve my purpose as it is taking even more space.

So I want to know how do I convert a text file containing these 0'S & 1's to a binary format.

Here is my program:

#include <stdio.h>
#include <string.h>
#include<fstream>

C++ :: Program To Read Middle Names Within Text File - Full String Not Appearing

Oct 24, 2014

I've a problem here...

#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <conio.h>
#include <string>
#include <iomanip>
using namespace std;
int _tmain(int argc, _TCHAR* argv[])

[Code] ....

The program needs to be able to read the middle names within the text file named Info2.txt

Simply adding the Mname or any related value where the other to name values doesn't do anything and only the 1st line appears on the output.

Don Jon111012
Jack Bo Todd151015
Jill Jo Jane161011
Bob Jack Chuck 131513
Da Fu111012

That is the correct way it appears in the text file. Also I know it's commented out, but that just to keep the program from crashing.

current output

Survey Results:

Name Results
Don Jon 33.00

This is the Info1.txt file info by the way.

Ken A202017
Gus B151015
Bill C151512
Jara C151720
Lu E101510
Chow B171015

And the output

Survey Results:

Name Results
Ken A 57.00
Gus B40.00
Bill C42.00
Jara C52.00
Lu E35.00
Chow B 42.00

Which when ran with Info1 selected, it is the correct output I'm looking for. I've tried getline and other solutions and they didn't work.

C++ :: How To Convert Text File Into Binary And Vice Versa

Dec 25, 2013

The problem is that I want to write a C++ program that converts an ordinary text file into binary and then reads that binary file and converts it to text file so that this text file equals to first text file. I have wrote this code for it.

int main() {
string name1 = "first", name2 = "sec", name3 = "third";
int j = 0, k = 0;
ifstream ifs(name1.c_str()); // Here I want to read from the ordinary text file (name1).

[Code] .....

Now what the ofs.write(as_bytes(j), sizeof(int)); or ifs.read(as_bytes(k), sizeof(int)); exactly mean?

In practice, the file name1 contains digit 5 and its size is 1 byte. The name2 contains some character/sign like [] and its size is 4 bytes and name3 contains digit 0 and its size is 1 byte, why? I before have created the name1 file in ordinary text file mode.

My machine is Windows 7 32-bit. My compiler is MVS 2012.

C++ :: Convert List Of Binary Numbers From A File Into Decimal And Print To Screen

Sep 23, 2014

I am trying to make a program that will convert a list of binary numbers from a file into decimal and print the decimal to the screen. I have no problem doing the conversion, the problem comes up when our teacher wants the input file in a format as such:

3
10110101
11111111
10101010

The first number is supposed to tell the program how many different 8bit strings it is going to have to convert, and then the following lines are those binary numbers.

I am not very experienced with file inputs, and I know how to open files and read lines in.. The problem is, how to say "ok the first line says 3, so now I have to convert the next 3 lines" . I am assuming it is just a simple loop that I am missing....

C :: Reading A Text File Into Linked List

Oct 15, 2013

I am trying to read in a text file and add strings from it word by word into a Linked List. I'm fairly new at C and don't quite understand pointers. I've had a few different errors just messing around with it, but now I'm getting an infinite loop within my main program.

Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <string.h>
#include <ctype.h>

struct listNode { /* self-referential structure */
char data[50];
struct listNode *nextPtr;

[Code] ....

When I run my full code, it prints 12345ooooooooooooooooooooooo...etc. In my test file the first word is "Hello" so that's where the infinite 'o's come from. If the outer loop is the one that is infinite, then wouldn't the second while loop also execute more than once? What I mean is, why is the second print statement the only one that repeats itself?

C :: Printing Of A File In Different Format?

Sep 13, 2013

The requirement is to capture statistics of uuid occurrences for ALIVE/SEARCH/BYEBYE (it can be all 3, combinations of 2 each, or one alone) in a dynamically populated file in run time.

I am able to print all 3 combinations, but not in combination of 1 or 2 e.g.

If my input.txt is like this :

uuid:22314754-a597-490b-8a93-02cfae01036b ALIVE 16
uuid:22314754-a597-490b-8a93-02cfae01036b BYEBYE 8
uuid:22314754-a597-490b-8a93-02cfae01036b SEARCH 8
uuid:50e65653-7525-485d-83bf-d293558c4264 ALIVE 32
uuid:50e65653-7525-485d-83bf-d293558c4264 BYEBYE 8
uuid:50e65653-7525-485d-83bf-d293558c4264 SEARCH 132

[Code]...

Code:

#include<stdio.h>
#include<string.h>
struct uid
{
char uid_val[100];
char state[100];
int temp_count;
int alive_count;
int search_count;

[Code]...

Gives the following output ->output.txt)

Device ID ALIVE BYEBYE SEARCH
uuid:22314754-a597-490b-8a93-02cfae01036b 16 8 8
uuid:50e65653-7525-485d-83bf-d293558c4264 32 8 132
uuid:55076f6e-6b79-4d65-6497-180373763bc1 113 112 111
uuid:T0100203354 1 2 3

I want to generalize the code such that uuid occurrence does not have to be all 3 (ALIVE/SEARCH/BYEBYE), the occurrences can be any combination and code should work. e.g my code gives wrong results when input.txt contains the following:

uuid:22314754-a597-490b-8a93-02cfae01036b BYEBYE 8
uuid:22314754-a597-490b-8a93-02cfae01036b SEARCH 8
uuid:50e65653-7525-485d-83bf-d293558c4264 ALIVE 32
uuid:50e65653-7525-485d-83bf-d293558c4264 BYEBYE 8
uuid:55076f6e-6b79-4d65-6497-180373763bc1 ALIVE 113
uuid:55076f6e-6b79-4d65-6497-180373763bc1 BYEBYE 112
uuid:55076f6e-6b79-4d65-6497-180373763bc1 SEARCH 111
uuid:T0100203354 BYEBYE 2

I am using ubuntu for gcc/g+ compiler.
