C++ :: Calculate GPA Using Transcript From Input File

Mar 13, 2013

I am trying to make a program that will calculate gpa using a transcript from an input file. The transcript includes the title of the subject, the letter grade, and the credits per class. However, I wouldn't know how many courses are in the file. How would I start to write out this program? The only things I can use are ifstream, ofstream, for-loops, if statements, and if-else statements.

C :: Program To Calculate Students Grades From Input File And Write To Output File

Aug 29, 2014

One of my class assignments is to create a program that receive a .txt file containing a students name and their grades as follows:

John K. 99, 87, 57, 89, 90, 95
Amanda B. Jones 100, 88, 76, 99, 86, 92
etc..

The number of students is unknown until run time. You have to take those grades and average them weighing the first (4) at 10% a piece and the last (2) at 30% each.

Then return an output file with the students name and their letter grade A,B,C,D,F based on their computed score. In addition, on screen it needs to display the average scores for each Q1, Q2, etc. as well as the minimum and maximum for each test on the screen. I am having a hard time in assigning the scores to a variable so that they can then be computed as an average and then used to determine a letter grade. I have begun to write the code and am a bit stuck..here's what I have so far:

Code:

#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <math.h>

main() {
float gore,dole,s,x;
int n,i,j,z;

C/C++ :: Program That Calculate PI Based On User Input For Accuracy?

May 24, 2014

I am trying to create a program that will calculate pi based on a user input for accuracy. If the user input .3 then when the leibniz infinite sum value at a particular i becomes less then the input of .3 then the loop will exit.

I have looked at a number of examples on the internet but I feel lost. I have put together working code that will infinitely output sums but I need the loop to stop when the sum value is less then the accuracy value.

My question is what is wrong with my while loop, why will it only give me infinite summations? How do I make it so that the loop will exit when my accuracy input is greater then the sum?

int main () {
double accuracy;
cout<<"Give an accurate number." << flush;//looks nice
cin>>accuracy;
int d;//initialize denominator
double pi = 0.0;

The numbers are what "End User" would input. But I need to make it look like this when said "End User inputs the numbers.

Enter the lower radius: 6
Enter the upper radius: 5
Enter slant height: 2.236

Here is what I have for it, but I don't know what to put where.

printf("
Enter the lower radius: ");
scanf("%f", &lower_rad);
printf("Enter the upper radius: ");
scanf("%f", &upper_rad);
printf("Enter slant height: ");

C++ :: Dynamic Arrays - Sort Input Data And Calculate Average

Jul 15, 2014

I'm still fairly new to c++ and am having trouble with dynamic arrays. My task is to create an array for test scores. The user needs to define the size of the array and then input data to later sort and calculate the average.

Below is what I have so far. I am struggling with the user input part. I receive the following errors for the data input of the individual scores:

C++ :: User Input Data About Percentages To Calculate Final Grade - Addition Error?

Sep 15, 2014

I am trying to code a program that takes in user inputted data about percentages and using it to later on calculate a final grade. 4 percents are inputted, for Assignments, Midterm1, Midterm2, and Finals. If the percents dont add up to 1 (i tell the user to enter the decimal value) I set up and if statement to catch it and end the program. Except that if i type in

Assignments = .3
Midterm1 = .3
Midterm2 = .3
Finals = .1

the program doesn't recognize that they add up to 1. Heres the relevant portion of my code [URL] ....

Here's some examples of how it works [URL] ....

And heres what i dont understand [URL] ....

Why is it saying .3 + .3 + .3 + .1 != 1 when .1 + .3 + .3 + .3 == 1?

C++ :: Store User Input In Array And Calculate Mean / Median And Mode - Bubble Sorting

Mar 26, 2014

I'm trying to make a c++ program of this but i don't know how to use the bubble sorting.

Write a C++ application that asks the user to enter 10 numbers. The program then stores those numbers in an Array. The program should display the Mean , Median, and Mode.

Mean is the average of the 10 numbers.
Median is the average of the 5th and the 6th numbers. (But you have to arrange the numbers in ascending order first using Bubble Sort before calculating the Median.)
Mode is the most frequent number among the 10 numbers.

C++ :: Calculate Average From File Containing Array Of Numbers?

Feb 21, 2014

I have written two separate programs; Program 1 calculates the average of an array of numbers which has been hard-coded into the program. Program 2 reads an array of numbers from a text file and displays them on the output.

I wish to combine these two programs into one by making Program 1 read the array of numbers from the file and then calculate the average using that instead of the array { 84, 92, 76, 81, 56 } as outlined below. I only wish to display the average in the output, not the number array as Program 2 does.

I have tried to do most of the work, I just need modifying the code slightly so it reads the number array from the file and calculates the average.

Program 1

#include <iostream>
#include <cmath>
#include <math.h>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
#include <numeric>
using namespace std;
int main() {
const int nNumStudents = 5;

C++ :: How To Calculate Certain Cells Of Numbers Instead Of Entire Text File

May 24, 2014

As you can see, the code below calculates the average, sum, number of items, etc, for a list of numbers in two separate files and compares them with one another.

e.g. we will have a text file of 10 numbers;

45
65
24
26
26
36
35
100
109
433
etc...

The problem is that the code will perform calculations on all the numbers in the txt. or csv. file. This is problematic because if there is any text in the file, e.g. headings, then the calculations will not be performed. For instance, suppose that I only wanted to include rows 5-10 in the calculations, how would I specify this in my C++ code?

#include <iostream>
#include <cmath>
#include <math.h>
