Visual C++ :: Program That Take Input From A User And Calculate It In A Do While Loop

May 15, 2013

I'm trying to create a program that will take input from a user and calculate it in a do-while loop. The program does the calculation but the answer is wrong. The loop also doesn't work. The purpose of the program is to see how much an item will cost after a discount is taken off and tax is added.

#include <iostream>
#include <cmath>
using namespace std;
double original_cost;
double discount;
double tax;
double total;
char answer;

C/C++ :: Program That Calculate PI Based On User Input For Accuracy?

May 24, 2014

I am trying to create a program that will calculate pi based on a user input for accuracy. If the user input .3 then when the leibniz infinite sum value at a particular i becomes less then the input of .3 then the loop will exit.

I have looked at a number of examples on the internet but I feel lost. I have put together working code that will infinitely output sums but I need the loop to stop when the sum value is less then the accuracy value.

My question is what is wrong with my while loop, why will it only give me infinite summations? How do I make it so that the loop will exit when my accuracy input is greater then the sum?

int main () {
double accuracy;
cout<<"Give an accurate number." << flush;//looks nice
cin>>accuracy;
int d;//initialize denominator
double pi = 0.0;
while(accuracy < d){

C++ :: Program To Allow A User To Input A Number From Keyboard That Involves Loop Not Working Right?

Mar 30, 2014

I'm trying to write a C++ program that will allow a user to input a number from the keyboard. Then using a loop, that will perform 10 times, multiply the entered number by the loop counter. Print out the loop counter, the entered number and the product of the loop counter and the entered number. A one-time heading should be displayed before information is printed.

This kinda of what I have so far:

int main () {

Visual C++ :: Write A Program Where The User Will Input Integer Numbers?

Oct 21, 2014

I have to write a program where the user will input integer numbers. How many numbers they enter is unknown, therefor you should use a repetition structure for the input. When the user is done, they will enter -1 to exit.

Create a dynamic array if the size=2( the initial size must be 2) Repeat until user enters -1.

I have to do this without using vectors.

This is what i have, I cannot figure out what to put in main. I was thinking of a do-while?

Code:
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
void resize(int *[], int);

C :: Calculate Different Measurements For A Cylinder - Width Modifier For End User Input

I have created a program to calculate different measurements for a cylinder. Anyways, the end user has to input 3 variables.

Enter the lower radius: 6

Enter slant height: 2.236

The numbers are what "End User" would input. But I need to make it look like this when said "End User inputs the numbers.

Enter the lower radius: 6
Enter the upper radius: 5
Enter slant height: 2.236

Here is what I have for it, but I don't know what to put where.

C++ :: User Input Data About Percentages To Calculate Final Grade - Addition Error?

Sep 15, 2014

I am trying to code a program that takes in user inputted data about percentages and using it to later on calculate a final grade. 4 percents are inputted, for Assignments, Midterm1, Midterm2, and Finals. If the percents dont add up to 1 (i tell the user to enter the decimal value) I set up and if statement to catch it and end the program. Except that if i type in

Assignments = .3
Midterm1 = .3
Midterm2 = .3
Finals = .1

the program doesn't recognize that they add up to 1. Heres the relevant portion of my code [URL] ....

Here's some examples of how it works [URL] ....

And heres what i dont understand [URL] ....

Why is it saying .3 + .3 + .3 + .1 != 1 when .1 + .3 + .3 + .3 == 1?

C++ :: Store User Input In Array And Calculate Mean / Median And Mode - Bubble Sorting

Mar 26, 2014

I'm trying to make a c++ program of this but i don't know how to use the bubble sorting.

Write a C++ application that asks the user to enter 10 numbers. The program then stores those numbers in an Array. The program should display the Mean , Median, and Mode.

Mean is the average of the 10 numbers.
Median is the average of the 5th and the 6th numbers. (But you have to arrange the numbers in ascending order first using Bubble Sort before calculating the Median.)
Mode is the most frequent number among the 10 numbers.

C :: Program To Calculate Factorial Of Numbers - For Loop

I have been working on a program to calculate the factorial of numbers. Part of my code is copied and modified from the FAQ about validating numbers in user input.

I have encountered a problem with the for loop that I am using near the end of my code. No matter what I do, it seems that my loop only does the multiplication of b = a*(a-1) and then prints. For example, inputting 5 will result in a print of 20, but the factorial is 120.

Code:
int main(void) {
char buf[BUFSIZ];
char *p;
long int a;
long int b;
long int i;

C++ :: User Input - Infinite While Loop

Sep 5, 2014

I have a small loop that gets the user input, as well as acts as input validation to make sure he or she doesn't enter a value that is not within the specified range.

The user is supposed to enter a month number. E.g. if he or she chooses February, then enter 2, or December, 12.

It works correctly if they type a number that is not in the range, but goes into an infinite loop if, say, they type a string such as "month".

Code:
int main() {
// Variable Declaration(s)/Initialization(s)
int month=0;

// Get input
cout<<"Enter a month";
cin>>month;

[Code] ....

How could I go about revising this?

1) Ask the user to enter a sentence. Until you reach the end of the sentence, test each character to count the number of spaces and letters.

2) For every space counted, print "SPACE", then print one "!" for every letter counted on an indented line underneath the "SPACE".

Your test sentence to use is: "The potash feldspars are important rock-forming minerals in plutonic, volcanic, and metamorphic rocks."

HINT: You do not need any strings. You need one while loop and two for loops. <cctype>

Code:

C :: Fixing User Input Errors In A For Loop

Mar 6, 2015

So I have to write a step in my program that reads in up to 8 variables. Simple, but if the User submits an invalid value, I have to give an error message and ask him to re-enter the value until he enters a valid number. Here's my while loop that works perfectly:

Code:

while (true) {
printf("
Enter the mark given by Judge 1: ");
scanf("%f", &m1);
if ((m1 >= 0.0) && (m1 <= 10.0)) {
break;
}

[code]...

I'm not sure what to write in the else statement to make the programme understand that it has to repeat the exact same step but without adding 1 to index. Is this possible or do I have to suck it up and just use while loops instead? I'm very new to programming.

C++ :: Calculate Average Of A Stream Of Positive Numbers - Loop Program?

Feb 25, 2013

Write a program that calculates the average of a stream of positive numbers. The user can enter as many positive numbers as they want, and they will indicate that they are finished by entering a negative number. For this program, treat zero as a positive number, i.e., zero counts as a number that goes into the average. Of course, the negative number should not be part of the average. You must use a function to read in the numbers, keep track of the running sum and count, compute the average, and return the average to the main() function. Note that you must use a loop to do this, as you don't know how many numbers the user will enter ahead of time. I am having problem writing a loop program for it..
