C++ :: Using Variable As Name For Combined File?

Apr 27, 2013

I have been researching how to use the prefix of a user input file name as the prefix of an output file name for a combined file. "Adding two text files into one text file", but the combined file name is entered directly, not from a variable.

std::ifstream file1( "file1.txt" ) ;
std::ifstream file2( "file2.txt" ) ;
std::ifstream file3( "file3.txt" ) ;
std::ofstream combined_file( "combined_file.txt" ) ;
combined_file << file1.rdbuf() << file2.rdbuf() << file3.rdbuf() ;

My code already has the user input file name as a variable. I would like to insert the prefix of that variable in line 4 with a new suffix.

I also found this code in an archived post by Duoas on May 31, 2010, "Changable filename based on user input," but I don't know how to adapt it to my combined file.

#include <fstream>
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
using namespace std;
int main() {
ofstream f;
string filename;

[code].....

C++ ::  find Index From 2 Vectors Combined

Feb 9, 2013

I am new in c++ and I am having difficulties with finding values in two vectors. Basically, I have two constant integer vectors u and v . They have the same length. I would like to select all the values in u and v, that respect those statements:

u>= x1 & u<= x2 & v>= x3 & v<= x4

x1, x2, x3, x4 are predefined integers.

Below is the code i use to do that in Matlab:

idx = find(u>=x1 & u<=x2 & v>=x3 & v<=x4);
A=u(idx);
B=v(idx);

But how to translate that in c++.

Code:
gcc Sender.c -o Sender Sender.h

C++ :: Creating Variable Name For Binary File

Dec 11, 2013

I'm attempting to split a large binary file into smaller manageable files for analysis. I've written most of the software but I'm stuck in a couple of places.

1. The binary file is split by looking at a couple of bytes to determine when to create a new file or continue appending to the current new file. The question is when I need to create a new file, how can I dynamically sign it a name? My intention is to rename each subfile by: "original_name" + new section id + ".log".

2. The start of each section is determined by a specific pattern (6 bytes of FF's). I'm running into an issue where the pattern check is checking for 5 bytes instead of 6 because the for..loop doesn't increment for one instance.

I've attached the code I have so far.

#include <iostream>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <string>
#include <sstream>
using namespace std;

int append_to_file(FILE *f,long sec_start, long sec_end)

I m retrieving this variable in the second cpp file with respect to the object created for the class in the first cpp file.

The problem is that i m not able tot retrieve the updated value in the second file. only the initialized value is being retrieved. neither 1 nor 2 is updated.

C++ :: How To Store Entire Content Of File In Variable

Jan 28, 2013

I would like to store the entire content of a file in a single c-string variable or in a standard string class variable. Is there a function that will do this for me? I am familiar with functions that get one character or one line at a time but I don't think I've encountered a function that gets the entire file. Does this function keep or disregard the end-of-line character? If no such function exists, I would write my own function to create and return such a variable.

Ok so when the program runs the first function the data is stored and displayed in the file. C :: How To Simply Input CSV File Into Universal Variable 2D Array

Mar 6, 2015

I am working in an assignment and part of this assignment is to input a CSV file with floats such as this:

8.5, 10.5, 90.5
49.5, 99 ,97
88, 70, 100
78, 2, 10

into an universal variable array.I just want to figure out a way to simply input the CSV file into a 2D variable array.The values in the array will be later use in functions that I'm trying to figure out but I can't do that until I store these values in the array. I think is just a matter of figuring out how to tell fscanf to ommit spaces and commas, but I don't know how. This is what I have done

Code:
#include<stdio.h>
#include<stdlib.h>
#include<math.h>
float grades[1001][101];
int main(int argc, char* argv[]){

[Code] ....

The output is this

Assignment 1 of student 1 = 8.5 Assignment 2 of student 1 = 10.5 Assignment 3 of student 1 = 0.0 Assignment 1 of student 2 = 90.5

I think I'm close to solve it but something is missing the output should look like this

Assignment 1 of student 1 = 8.5 Assignment 2 of student 1 = 10.5 Assignment 3 of student 1 = 90.5 Assignment 1 of student 2 = 49.5

C++ :: Store A Reference Variable As Member Variable Of Interface Object

May 1, 2013

I am having trouble compiling my interface. I am trying to store a reference variable as a member variable of the interface object. Compiler says that the variable has not be initiated correctly.

LCD inherits from VisualInterface which is expecting a DisplayDriver object to be passed in (DisplayDriver is another interface, but thats not important).

I pass the displayDriver object in when LCD is instantiated in maininterfaces.zip

I was pasing it before as a pointer but was told that this could cause me problems with memory leaks and a reference was better, but now I cant seem to get it to compile.

C :: Transform Local Variable Into Global Variable?

Oct 25, 2014

I need to transform a local variable into a global variable so I can use it in one of my functions. I thought about passing the value as a parameter to this function but I can do this since the function is called inside the while loop and this variable counts how many times the while loop does (so the final value is outside the loop). Example to visualize better:

Code:
while(condition) {
function(parameter1, parameter2);
count = count + 1;
}
printf("%d
", count);

So, I need to transform the final value of "count" into a global variable. Can I do this?
