C++ :: Testing HTTP Headers - For Loop And Strings
Jun 23, 2014
I am testing HTTP Headers and I have an strange problem. When I get the response of the server, it is the correct one the first time. If I use a for loop to send more than one request and get more than one response, this response seems to be overlapped with the previous ones. To a better explanation of the problem I attach the code I am using and the output generated:
TCPSocket.h
-----------
#ifndef _TCPSOCKET_H_
#define _TCPSOCKET_H_
class TCPSocket {
private:
int localSocket;
[Code] .....
So, a bigger loop, a bigger the response of the server. However, I know the response of the server is always the same.

I am making a program that takes the user's family names, their ages, and where they live. At the end I will be eventually averaging out their age and also printing the names of anyone who lives in Kansas.
I can't seem to get the Kansas part to work properly though.. When I execute the code, everything else works perfectly, but the Kansas part doesn't even print. Is there something different I need to do when strings are involved rather than integers/floats?
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
int main ()
{
/* variable definition: */

The code is supposed to take either an int or a string (and their respective vectors) and insert a given int or string into the vector in ascending order. My code works properly for ints, but it's having a problem with strings.
The order I get with the strings given is
penguin
banana
great
jungle
For some reason comparing penguin to banana/great doesn't give the expected result. The template attached only includes the function and the private vectors needed for the function.
template<class T>
class orderedList {
public:
void insert(const T& item);
private:
vector<T> list;
int total = 0;

So I have a rather large (for me) project, requiring me to have two .cpp files and a header. Anyway, both of the .cpp files #include the header file, but I recieve linker errors because the variables and functions in the header are declared and defined twice (once in each .cpp file). How am I supposed to do this?

I have a question regarding how GCC relates a header file and its binary file.
main.c
#include <math.h>
#include <stdio.h>
int main (void){
double x = sqrt (2.0);
printf ("The square root of 2.0 is %f
", x);
return 0;
}
we can compile it by running the line: gcc main.c -lm -o main
My question is: How GCC knows where is the definition of sqrt?
First I was thinking that there was and object file with the name math.o inside libm.a (that is GCC will look for an object file with the same name as the header file), but after running the next line I think my assumption was wrong as there is not such file in libm.a.
nm libm.a | grep math.o
nm: e_acos.o: no symbols
nm: k_cos.o: no symbols
nm: k_sin.o: no symbols

Code:
struct magic {
char windowsheader[2];
} magicnumbers;
struct bmp {
unsigned int sizeofthefile;
short int applicationspecific1;
[Code] .....
When I run this program, seems like it is working,at least I am sure that it gives the right file size. But if I don't use struct magic and instead use:
Code:
struct bmp {
char windowsheader[2];
unsigned int sizeofthefile;
short int applicationspecific1;
short int applicationspecific2;
//same lines with above
} bitmap_header;
And if I don't use first fread:
Code:
fread(&magicnumbers,sizeof(magicnumbers),1,fp);
Then the values which structure "bmp"'s variables get become wrong. Of course I change the related printf to:
Code:
printf("
windowsheader:%d %d
",bitmap_header.windowsheader[0],bitmap_header.windowsheader[1]);
Why does the problem happen,what is the difference between them?Why do I have to use separate structs?

I am currently working on data abstraction. I was able to write a class (a simple clock, see Malik's C++ book, Chapter 12 for reference). As you can imagine, I am quite new to programming and C++.
Well, now I created a header file clock.h that includes the class definition and function prototypes as well as a implementation.cpp file with the implementation details of the class.
I managed to include all this in my program.cpp and compile it (using dev c++). Everything works exactly as I want it to.
So now my question is, how can I create ... I am not sure how it is called ... a header, but without revealing to the user how the functions are implemented. Basically the user should get a file (the object code of the header + implementation.cpp?) and simply #include it into his own program.
So instead of giving the original header + implementation.cpp to the user I want to hide how my class does its stuff and instead just provide some file that can be included and then used in a program (I will write a documentation how to use the class).
I am not sure how all this is called, I am sure there is some name for it...

Assume a class named Dollars exists. Write the headers for member functions that overload the prefix and postfix ++ operators for that class.

I have just learned about how one can put functions and headers in different files from the main() function. I was wondering if there is a rule of thumb of when and when not to separate the two, or if it's merely preference. Is there perhaps an "industry standard" regarding this, for those who program in C for a living?

I want to include boost directory. What must be in the Additional Include Directories input?
I tried
C:C++boost_1_55_0libsaccumulatorsexample;$(BOOST_ROOT);%(AdditionalIncludeDirectories)
But I am still getting error "Cannot open include file: 'boost/libs/accumulators/lambda/lambda.hpp': No such file or directory" when I include
Code:
#include <boost/libs/accumulators/lambda/lambda.hpp>
The file is placed out side of boost directory of sure.

Say I have something lke
Code:
#define FOO BAR
#if FOO == BAR
doX();
#else
doY();
#endif
This causes doX(); to be executed. But the intent is to have doY(); be run. I'm guessing this is because BAR is undefined and therefore blank, so blank equals blank. Is there some way to compare the symbol FOO was set to instead of its value, BAR?

In the below program, when we have 4 consecutive spaces, the following comparison will not be equal: (x / tabstop != (x + spaces) / tabstop). If we have, let's say, only 2 consecutive spaces, then the comparison will be equal. So we know to print a tab with 4 consecutive spaces and not print a tab otherwise. How do we know this kind of division comparison would work in every case?
#include <stdio.h>
#define TABSTOP 4
int main(void) {
size_t spaces = 0;
int ch;
size_t x = 0; /* position in the line */
size_t tabstop = TABSTOP; /* get this from the command-line

I developed this simple sample program to test cos():
Code:
#include <cmath>
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
int main() {
const float radiansToDegrees = 180.0f / 3.141592653589793f;
float c = sqrt(2.0f);
float a = 1;
float angleRadians = cos(a/c);
float angle = radiansToDegrees*angleRadians;
}
I expected angle to be 45 exactly, but it's value is: angle = 43.558804
Why is the angle not 45 degrees? What did I do wrong?

I'm working on a project that's got a lot of moving parts, from feedback from a position sensor to real-time video editing. The script that runs the sensor is in C++, and the API for the video editing software (vMIX) is executed with HTTP protocol. I'm hoping to use that C++ script to control the video software (as some of the editing is dependent on particular feedback from the sensor), and wanted to see how to execute a HTTP command from a C++ script.

I'm working on collision detection for a game in SFML. I successfully designed a Spatial Partition grid to speed up the collision test, in the following of this tutorial: [URL] ....
But now I have an issue with one aspect of it: Going through a vector of objects and testing all the OTHER objects in the vector against said object. The author puts it into psueudocode here:
For each tick of the clock
For every object in the game
Get all the other objects in the same grid square
For each other object in the same grid square
I have trouble with the last line, because in iterating through a vector I am not sure how to skip over the current object. Here is my own code (a couple of sysntax errors but this is a c++ question not an SFML question):
//for every moveable object
for(int i = 0; i < rects_.size(); i++){
std::vector<sf::RectangleShape> posibleObjects_; //this will be a vector of WorldObjects in a real game
//for every object in that object's gridsquare
for(int j = 0; j < rects_.size(); j++){
if(rects_[i].intersects(rects_[j])){
//collision
} } }
The problem is, a collision will always be reported because somewhere in the vector the object will eventually check against itself which is always a true collision. What is the correct way to do this?

I am checking to see if two references are bound to the same object. My instincts tell Me, "Check their addresses. If they match, they are bound to the same." At the same time, I have not found anything in the C++ standard which would support this approach. Am I missing something? Is there wording which backs up My instincts? Is there a standard function to do this?

I have a text file with state names, and state abbreviations, thusly:
ALASKA
AK
ARKANSAS
AR
..and so on.
I have to load the abbreviations ONLY from the file into an array of char[ - (already done and tested).
I have to get a 2 char abbreviation as a string,then test it against the state array to make sure it is a valid abbreviation. As it stands, my test is never finding an invalid abbreviation..
Here is where I get the input:
void getState() {
char state[10];
getString("Please enter the state as a 2 char abbreviation:",state,10);
printf("State Entered:%s", state);
validState(state);

I make a simple c++ http post request using socket and it is working fine. But how to get only the message of the response. Here is my receive code:
char buffer[1028];
recv(socket, buffer, sizeof(buffer), 0);
printf("%s", buffer);
Then here is the response that the http send back.
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Data: Mon, 19 May 2014 12:46:36 GMT
Server: Apache/2.4.9 (Win32) OpenSSL/0.9.8y PHP/5.4.27
X-Powered-By: PHP/5.4.27
Coneten-Length: 28
Content-Type: text/html
All done! Do some stuff now. So what I want to try is get 3 things in this response and put them to string vector but how to do this. What I need is to parse the response and the 200 OK, 28 and All done! Do some stuff now. then put them to string vector.
expected result
response[0] = 200 OK;
response[1] = 28
response[2] = All done! Do some stuff now

But Now i am facing a problem where one Side is in WindowsFormApplication and other is in ASP.NET and i want to communicate in save way. (creating a Listeners on both application and send envelops) here is my code, i have confusions that how to make a receiver and secondly should i add a web service (asmx) in my asp.net project or not? and i want to communicate using HTTP
here is my code.
SoapEnvalopeReceiver receiver = new SoapEnvalopeReceiver();
receiver.throwEnvalopeEvent += receiver_throwEnvalopeEvent;
Uri listeningURL = new Uri(textBoxReceiveAt.Text);
EndpointReference erpReceive = new EndpointReference(listeningURL);
SoapReceivers.Add(erpReceive, receiver);
labelStatus.Text = "Connected";
labelStatus.Visible = true;
or I don't know how can make Asp.net application a listener and form Application too .....

I was wondering what function was the C++ equivalent for testing to see if a user input is numeric.
I have equivalents in Ruby, Java, Python, VB, VBA, php, but being a novice in C++, I have yet to find one - even with Google.
And I know C++ is such a wonderful language, that its extensive library must have one somewhere - considering it's already 2013!
