C++ :: Stringstream - Split User Input Into Words Separated By Space

Apr 20, 2014

I trying to get input from the user and split into words that separated by a space.

string s = "1 2 3";
istringstream iss(s);
int n;
while (iss >> n) {
cout << "* " << n << endl;
}

The code above works fine but i want to get the string from user. the code below only prints the first word and trashes rest of the words in the sentence.

string s ;
cin>>s;
istringstream iss(s);
string n;
while (iss >> n) {
cout << "* " << n << endl;
}

#include <iostream>
#include <string>
#include <fstream>

int main() {
string filename = "Question 1.cpp"; // File name goes in here

C++ :: Reading In Space Separated Versus Comma Separated Files

Jul 30, 2014

I just wrote a code that reads in a text file called "policies.txt" which looks like this:

Pol1 M N 20 100000 1 .04 99
Pol2 F S 30 100000 1 .05 99
Pol3 M S 72 750000 1 .03 99
Pol4 F N 45 1000000 1 .05 99

This works perfectly fine, but what if I want each element of the table to be separated by commas. For example:

Pol1,M,N,20,100000,1,.04,99
Pol2,F,S,30,100000,1,.05,99
Pol3,M,S,72,750000,1,.03,99
Pol4,F,N,45,1000000,1,.05,99

or better yet, what if I want it to not matter whether the columns are separated by commas or spaces? is there any way to do this? If there is no way to read in both comma-separated and space-separated elements simultaneously then I would prefer just comma, rather than the space separated which my code is able to read now. What modifications would I have to make to my code to make this work? This is my code to reference.

double ratesmn[86] = {
#include "MaleNonSmoker.txt"
- 1
};
double ratesms[86] = {
#include "MaleSmoker.txt"

C++ :: Stringstream Consecutive White Space

Oct 1, 2013

So I have a text file named test.txt on the root of my c:/drive.

I finally managed to arrays working and reading into them, but when I started looking at the data in the array I noticed that stringstream was not "grabbing" a specified space. LINES 83-88

The text file contains the following (note that there is an intentional space after the first word):

I ' m s o r 0 y 4 D a v e , 5 12 12 12 3 7 f 11 2 i d 5 8 1 c 5 n 10 t 5 7 17 2 3 h 7 2 .

I need that space to be caught in the steam, there will always be only one space after a various first word, but I need it in my array and stringstream doesn't catch it.

if you need to run it, just copy the text to a file named c:/test.txt

When you run the code, you will see after the 3rd iteration it skips the space, is there a way to change this, so I can focus on the decryption algorithm??

#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <vector>
#include <string>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <sstream>
#include <cctype>
bool is_number(const std::string& s){
std::string::const_iterator it = s.begin();

/*Write a program that will generate a word based on a randomly generated, seven-digit number. there should be 2187 possible words. Avoid "phone numbers" that begin with 0 or 1*/

Problem is, I'm only allowed to use stdio.h and stdlib.h. How can I accomplish this? Also, how would I check if any of the characters which were entered aren't either a number, letter, or '-'?

The output in my code shows like this:

[e]Encipher
[d]decipher
[x] Exit
Enter choice: e
Enter message to Encrypted:
i love you
Enter Key:

The encrypted message is: tzjzpmjy

Back to main menu? (y/n):

However , I want the output to display the spaces as the user's input.

ex. The encrypted message is: t zjzp mjy.

This is the same as i love you in the user's input.

I have been trying to make a small program that I will be using in a larger program that will make the user press space to see the next line of output.

For example if I put it:

"Howdy howdy whoop Whoop" - it only outputs that it counted 3 words

now if I were to do:

"Hello Howdy howdy whoop Whoop" - it would count 4.

Code:

#include "std_lib_facilities_4.h"
int main(){
cout << "Please enter desired words, when you have entered all words, please type CTRL+d (EOF Command)

Write a program to print a histogram of the lengths of words in its input. It is easy to draw the histogram with the bars horizontal; a vertical orientation is more challenging.

C++ :: How To Make A Program That Converts Input Numbers Into Equivalent Words

Nov 16, 2013

I've reached a point in "Jumping into C++" where I need to make a program that converts input numbers into their word equivalent.

So far I've made it work for numbers 0-9999. I've tried implementing 10000-99999 but there are problems with the order of the words printed (57865 would print fifty thousand seven thousand eight hundred sixty five). But besides that, the program is absolutely enormous (for me) and I'm wondering if it can be shortened. Keep in mind I can only use loops and if statements so far. Here it is:

Code:

#include <iostream>

void extras(int e);
void digits(int x);
void tens(int xx);
void hundreds(int xxx);
void thousands(int xxxx);

C++ :: Read Text File To Stringstream But Keep Line Feed

My question is when I add lines from text file (reading one line at a time) in UNIX, how do I maintain CRLF ( ) in the stringstream variable so that it will display on HTML in Windows properly, all the lines as it is in unix.

I am aware UNIX uses for line end.
