How to measure a NAS (NTFS) free space/total space and used space? Few more details: I have the needed code to map the NAS location (serverNameshared_folderfoldersub_folder) into the local server where I am running my applciation but I can only get the needed statistics above for the whole NAS, I need to know the statistics for a specified folder on the NAS, how can I do that?

but this function seem to just copy from the beginning of a buffer to another, not from the ith element.Is there such a function?

Buff1&buff2 are char[10000] and i is declared int, holding the interesting element's position.

I'm trying to add more student information to the specific txt file. I did struct my student information and separated it with an array with max size of 200.

The inside of my current file looks like

Toshi
Aka
Nonal
Donald

The first one represent student[0] and next one is student[1] and so on till student[199]. Right now, only 4 space is occupied, which means the array has information till student[3] but not from student[4] (I guess it has null condition).

What I want to do is, I want to add a new student information to student[4] and till student[199] once at each time.

So, my prompt will look like
Would like to add a new student? Y/N
(if yes goes to below statement and exit if NO)
Hi. Please enter the information of new student. ___________
Student added. Please press any key to continue.

If the key is pressed, it goes back to my initial prompt and continues till I press N.

I sure I'm not using for loop to do this thing, because I'm adding student name one by one.

However, the array is already occupied by other student name till student[3] so, I want to add a new student information to student[4] (I don't want to overwrite the current information). And if student[4] is occupied, then [5] and so on.

Do you know about tinyurl.com and baidu.com? Baidu.com is a search engine that tries to discourage people from using their web site to make metasearch engines by hiding their links in a way that is a lot like how tinyurl.com works. TinyUrl.com is a web site where, if you want to present someone with a link to something and that link is long, you can use tinyurl to produce a tiny url for presentation purposes.

Anyway, what I want to do is to find a way to programmatically take the link [URL] (the first link in a search for Jessica Alba using baidu.com) and have it return the actual link, [URL] . That is just one example. What I want to do is not specific to Jessica but for using Baidu.com as part of my group of search engines in my meta search eneing project.

Maybe there is a way of using the WebBrowser class but I did not see a member that was the URL.

Maybe there is a way of using WebRequest and WebResponse.

The code above loops through a string and for each character checks to see if it is a lower case character, then checks to see if it an upper case. It then removes it if it is. Leaving only the numbers.

However, it reuses the same string the entire time, never updating the string so it always finds the same (first) character.

I have a string - a whole sentence that I want to assign a number to each letter, space, comma and period etc. So all "A's" will have the same number, all "B's" will have another number etc. I don't want to use the ASCII numbers because they all need to be sequential and some of the punctuation isn't. I have put the string into a char array to separate each character out and was thinking about running it through a loop with if statements for each letter and assigning numbers there and then saving the numbers in the order they appear into a list as a string but I keep coming up with errors so I don't know how to do it or if there is a better way to accomplish what I'm trying to do.

I am having difficulty with arrays because of the limitation of the size of the arrays that I can declare. I need sizes that are very large and windows or C# does not allow me to create bigger than the following for example:

public static int[] gaPoints = new int[20000000000000000000 + 1];

I get an error message saying that "integral size is too large".

I need to be able to declare sizes that are even much larger than the abovementioned size.

How can I circumvent this problem?

Do I have to use something other than arrays?

I have a problem with implementing Shadow Mapping into a project I am working on. I am very much new to shaders and I have been given a Shadow Mapping shader to implement and understand. I have mostly got my head round the concept and the code but I can't figure out why its not working.

As I understand it the main steps to follow are;

1) Render the scene from the POV of the light - this is done in ShadowMap::SetUpDepthRender where the view and projection matrices are passed to the shader.

2) Render all objects in the scene - this creates a shadowmap (depth map) via the shader.

3) Reset the view and projection matrices to that of the camera - done in ShadowMap::SetUpSceneRender.

4) Render the scene objects once more appling the depth map to them via the second pass of the shader.

The problem Im having is that I have a stripe of light running diagonally across the screen. It passes through the point of the spotlight that I am mapping for. I believe this is the shadowmap being applied to the scene however I could be wrong?

Below is the code in the ShadowMap class used for setting the fx file.

I've created a solution who exported Access reports (graphics/tables) to a Word- and a PDF-format. Therefor I use PDFSharp and PDFFocus.

The PDF document is okay. But the Word-document looks good. Only the size of the Word-document, it has to send by e-mail, is much too big (17MB).

I have to open the Word document again to change the PageSettings to be sure, that the page-margins and the print orientation are correct.

I don't know how it works in the Word-library source. But I've tried WdOrientation.wdOrientPortrait and once I was surprised. I saw this page in Landscape-format.

So my next question is: How can I shrink the size of this Word document?

And what do I have to do to limit the amount of format-settings in this word-document?

I'm very very new to maps and am really just trying to hash them out by myself.

If you're mapping strings to integers:

map <string, int> myMap;
myMap[ "zero" ] = 0;
myMap[ "one" ] = 1;

How do I print the string "zero", for instance, from myMap?

cout << myMap.at(0) << endl;

doesn't work. Nor does:

cout << static_cast<string>( myMap.at(0) ) << endl;

I need access to the string using the int and the int using the string. Or just direct access to one or the other. . . It's just confusing that they're technically mapped to one another but I can't really access either of them.

So I'm rewriting an old project of mine, and I'm trying to determine if there's truly any better way to map the data taken from a text file "dictionary" into the correct class fields for further processing. For example:

FNAME=MY_FIRST_NAME
ADDR=123 SOMEWHERE LN, NOWHERESVILLE, TX 01234
LNAME=MY_LAST_NAME
TOTCALLS=47

In each of these, I'd need the "value" (MY_FIRST_NAME, MY_LAST_NAME, etc) from the "keys" (FNAME, LNAME, etc) to be mapped to the proper class fields. Say, for example, I had this:

Class DataProcessing {
public string Address;
public string FirstName;
public string LastName;
public int TotalCalls;
...
}

I would need DataProcessing.Address to be set to the value in the ADDR key/value pair. The same would be true for each other field. The problem is that based on the text file's source (which isn't under my control, and won't be changed anytime soon), the key/value pairs are not always in the same place...so a second file could have the data as such:

TOTCALLS=47
ADDR=123 SOMEWHERE LN, NOWHERESVILLE, TX 01234
LNAME=DARKPOETCC'S LAST NAME
FNAME=DARKPOETCC'S FIRST NAME

Any smarter way to do this than looping through each line that was read in from the file, and determining where it belongs, such as (pseudo code follows):

IF FieldName == "TOTCALLS" THEN
//Assign to TotalCalls field
ELSEIF FieldName == "ADDR" THEN
//Assign to Address field

I must take an old MFC project in VC++ 6.0 and make changes.

The problem is text size in screen is different from size in print preview.

for example with this font

comparing with screen size the height is bigger but lenght is smaller. I don't understand.

I can understand that different printers process the fonts in different way and then to have different lenghts. That's not the problem. The problem is I need to simulate in screen the same behaviour i will have on printer because these texts are being aligned in the document, and I don't want to see that the text si aligned different in text than in paper.

What can I do to render the text on screen with the same size I will have on the printer? Print preview is doing it. Should I change the font parameters? is something related with pixels per inch?

I was wondering why, in C, the sizeof of a struct is larger than the the sum of all the sizeofs of it's members. It only seems to be by a few bytes, but as a bit of a perfectionist I fine this a bit annoying.
