My question is that i need each input to be a number.
if a character is entered i want it to output something like..

This program adds fractions. ‘Y’ continues, any other key exits program

C Sharp :: How To Shrink Size Of Word Documents By Changing Format Settings

Jul 31, 2012

I've created a solution who exported Access reports (graphics/tables) to a Word- and a PDF-format. Therefor I use PDFSharp and PDFFocus.

The PDF document is okay. But the Word-document looks good. Only the size of the Word-document, it has to send by e-mail, is much too big (17MB).

I have to open the Word document again to change the PageSettings to be sure, that the page-margins and the print orientation are correct.

using System;
using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word;
namespace PageSetup {
    class TestPageOrientation {
        static void Main(string[] args)

[Code] .....

I don't know how it works in the Word-library source. But I've tried WdOrientation.wdOrientPortrait and once I was surprised. I saw this page in Landscape-format.

I think there is something wrong with my document sections, because the documents (with a lot of tables, graphics and a image) is much too big. And that's only after using this method.

So my next question is: How can I shrink the size of this Word document?

And what do I have to do to limit the amount of format-settings in this word-document?

C++ :: Fscanf And Verifying Correct Input Length

Jan 24, 2012

I am trying to make a program that will read in input in the following format:

| ...text... || ...more text... || ...still more text...|

i.e. every bit of "text" that gets read in is bracketed on either side by the "|" character.

The buffer that i read them into can be of a maximum length of 101 (100 characters plus a terminating null character); this is how I am currently reading in the input:

char readString [100 + 1];
while ( fscanf(infile, "|%1000[^|]|", readString) ){
/*... manipulate readString ...*/
}

How might I design this program so that, should any of the text appearing between the "|" characters exceed 100 in length, it exits and returns a warning?

C++ :: Getting User Input In Date Format

Oct 26, 2014

So I have a programming assignment which is for getting a user input in the format of m/d/yyyy. This is stored as d/m/yyyy. I have been able to code all the rest of the requirements of the program but the thing that is giving me trouble is this. The year is allowed to go from 1-3000. The format of the displayed date is:

a zero-filled, two-digit day number, a dash, full name of month, a dash, zero-filled, four-digit year.

I am able to use a switch statement in order to get my name of the month. What I am struggling to figure out is the whole zero filled two digit day and zero filled four digit year. From the way the input is store it appears to me that it will be stored as yyyy which means if you were to enter 0001 for year 1 then it should output it as that (this is an assumption based on format). What I don't get is that the day is entered and stored as d which means if you put in 12 how would it be stored. However if you put in 6 to print the output I would need to add a zero and I dont know how to do that either.

Here is the code for getting the input. The function must stay formated this way as per the instructor. The / is stored but ignored hence the char for second and fourth since / is a char

Code:
void getDate (int& day, int& month, int& year){
char second;
char fourth;
cout << "Please enter a date in the format of m/d/yyyy" << endl;
cin >> month >> second >> day >>fourth >> year;
}

C/C++ :: Making A Date Format Input?

Dec 16, 2014

how my code should work is a console screen in which the user enters a date using format dd/mm/yyyy

Regardless of logical errors (checking days if bigger than 31 or negative values or.. etc) My code should be able to validate the following:

- if the user enters a letter, the program should output an error message

- if the user typed the date as 8/2/2014 the program should convert it to 08/02/2014 without returning an error message

Here's my code so far, I really can't find the bugs in it

#include<iostream>
using namespace std;
main(){
 char d[2], m[2], y[4], br1, br2, dx, mx;
 bool end, nobr1, nobr2;

[code]....

as you notice, I tried two different validating formats in the days and months, unfortunately they both failed..

Here's how my program is outputting so far:

C++ :: Correct Answer From File - Cin Getting Wrong User Input

May 31, 2014

So I'm writing a program that will read a text file and it will do certain "functions" the text file will be like a game, and the program will be able to run many different games. The problem i'm having is in one of the "functions" i believe it's the one meant to get a correct choice from a file and a user input and put them into strings, it gets the wrong input. I know this because i tested both strings the "function" writes too. it gets the correct file answer but the user input is always "c" for some reason.

#include "stdafx.h"
#include <iostream>
#include <iomanip>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
#include <stdlib.h>
using namespace std;
int progfiles() {

[Code] ....

This is the code, most likely the section that is surrounded with "///" contains the problematic "functions." This is the command Line output...investigate why they're dieing or continue on your journey?(i-investigate/c-continue) got input and answer

i
c
i
Press any key to continue . . .

The got input and answer are tests to make sure it got both, the first 'i' is my input, the 'c' is what it says my input is, and the 'i' is the correct answer from the file. this is the part of the file that the program reads to get that output

"1 Do you want to go investigate why they're dieing or continue on your journey?(i-investigate/c-continue) 2 8 i 7 3 4 You continue on picking up speed to get to the egg first.. and.. Oh No, You accidentally bumped into the walls! 2 12 5 1 You go over, and as you realize the walls are acidic and that's why the other sperm are dieing.. 2 6"

Problem 1: Convert a string into a mathematical calculation
Problem 2: Calculate in the correct order

How would I do that (I dont expect perfecly precoded calculators from you, just the way how to do it)

Google search just delivers primitive calculations with entry methods like

Enter first number 1
Enter operator +
Enter second number 2

C :: Strcpy - How To Update Old String In Stars Array With New That Includes Correct Letters

Apr 25, 2013

This for loop replaces the stars ******** in an array that contains a word to be guessed with the correct letter (c) that the user inputs if the word contains that letter.

Problem: After every guess the same hidden string of stars ******* is displayed instead of ex: ***W**** (assuming W was entered by the user)

How can I update the old ******** string in the Stars array with the new string that includes the correct letters chosen, so after every correct guess at a letter in the word a new string is displayed including the correct letters chosen?

I'm pretty sure I have to use strcpy but not sure how to implement it using a loop.

Code:
for(i = 0; i < strlen(unscrambledWord); i++) {
if(unscrambledWord [i] == c) {
Stars[i] = c;

C++ ::  handling And Comparing Large Number Initially In String Format

Feb 16, 2014

Suppose i have a very large number stored as a string, say

std::string str = "1000000000000000000000000000000000001";

And i use std::stringstream to convert it to int like this

std::stringstream ss(str);
uint64_t i;
ss >> i;

Then I would be maxed out right. so how would one practically handle things like comparison of two such numbers.

I could think of 2 approaches :

1) I can compare the numbers character by character.
2) I can put the results of ss >> i; into an array then compare each element of array

would there be any other methods??

C/C++ :: Comparing Input String To Type String Vector

May 29, 2014

I wrote a program that reads a list from a file and stores it in a string type vector. Now, I want the user to input a word so that the program can search the vector to see if that word already exists. I have used every possible way of reading input from the console and storing it in order to compare with the vector but it never results in a match. When I print the input string and the vector string they are exactly the same thing (or at least print to the console as if they were). I've tried using getline; using cin direct to a string var; using cin to a char array and then casting to string using string str(arr); I even added a newline at the end just in case and STILL I cannot get a match.

vector <string> currentSet; //read a list in from a file and has 9 items in it
cin.ignore();
string line;
getline(cin, line);
if(line == vector[0]){//if printed to console line is HEAT and vector[0] is HEAT
cout<<"match"<<endl;
}
