Code:
do {
printf("Edit the entry's cellphone number:");
scanf("%s", addressbook[4][num]);
length = strlen(addressbook[4][num]); //gets the length of the input (should be 10)
//checks if the input is composed of 11 elements wherein the first 2 are 0 and 9 respectively
for(i=0; i<11; i++){
[Code] ....
why do I get an error here?
Code:
if ((addressbook[4][num][0] == '0') && (addressbook[4][num][1] == '9') || (addressbook[4][num][i]>='0') && (addressbook[4][num][i]<='9') && (length=='11'))
And how do I fix this?
The error message is: comparison is always false due to limited data type

I have a working lab project with a loop error. Code posted in second post. Here's the requirements:
*
- program has to be able to handle file failure
- must loop (prefer to use a while loop here), read in the data, calculates values, etc. and then output the results.
*
The input data file includes
1. a 1 or a 0 indicating that there is a set of employee data following
2. the hourly rate of the employee
3. the humber of hours worked
4. the number of dependents
5. a 1 or a 0 indicating whether the employee is full time (1=full time).
Problem: At first I wouldn't loop back... so I moved the curly brace above the return0;

I am trying to code a program that takes in user inputted data about percentages and using it to later on calculate a final grade. 4 percents are inputted, for Assignments, Midterm1, Midterm2, and Finals. If the percents dont add up to 1 (i tell the user to enter the decimal value) I set up and if statement to catch it and end the program. Except that if i type in
Assignments = .3
Midterm1 = .3
Midterm2 = .3
Finals = .1
the program doesn't recognize that they add up to 1. Heres the relevant portion of my code [URL] ....
Here's some examples of how it works [URL] ....
And heres what i dont understand [URL] ....
Why is it saying .3 + .3 + .3 + .1 != 1 when .1 + .3 + .3 + .3 == 1?

a) Write a C-program that creates a chain of 10 processes and prints out their process ids and relationships. For example, process 1 is the parent of process 2, process 2 is the parent of process 3, process 3 is the parent of 4 and so on. Each child has to print out all her ancestors identified by the process ids.
b) Write a C-program that creates a fan of 10 processes. That is, process 1 is the parent of prcocesses 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and so on.
I'm assuming that he means c++ since that's what we've been using. how to start this and what it means? Or where I can learn how to do this.

I have to make a prgrama using the C programming language that is able to read several lines of commands entered by the user and interpret it as a command to run.
I have to implement the following command:
a) Command generic - program should be able to read any one command and execute the same command on the operating system through primitives for implementing generic processes (eg "ls-l/etc").
