C :: How To Store All Random Generated Numbers In Array

Feb 27, 2013

So we're having an assignment for school where you code a Roulette game which simulates you playing and you can choose how many times you "play" to check how many times you'd win (if that makes any sense, im german :P)

Anyways, the problem is how do i store all the random generated numbers in an array while NOT doing this (it's just a snip):

Code:

void randomzahl(void){
int i;
int zahl5[5];
int zahl10[10];
int zahl100[100];
int zahl1000[1000];
int zahl10000[10000];

C++ :: How To Get Rid Of Negative Number From Randomly Generated Numbers

Oct 21, 2013

I have a error with one of my programs. I'm supposed to get rid of negative numbers when there are numbers that are randomly generated. Here is the middle part of the code.

{
int vectorLength = 10;
vector<int> bothSigns(vectorLength);
cout << " Input vector: ";
for (int i = 0; i < vectorLength; i = i + 1)
{ bothSigns[i] = rand()%201 - 100;

The part where i'm supposed to start is after the /////'s. However, whenever I input a number for the random numbers(not put in part of code), i keep getting a segmentation error.

C++ :: Function With 3 Arguments - Bring Back New Number Generated With Replacement

Oct 26, 2014

Write a function that takes 3 arguments. The function has to bring back a new number that has been generated with the replacement of the figure that is on a given position in the number with a figure that is been transferred as an argument(have in mind that the position of the figure is being counted from right to left,starting from one). Write a main program in which the newly formed numbers will be printed for numbers of a range written by the user.

Example: if you wrote the numbers 2276,3 and 5 the function should bring back the number 2576

If you didn't understand the text, the example shows that in the number 2276, the number has been counted from right to left by the second argument "3" and in the place of the figure "2" has been put the figure "5".

This is where I got stuck, I can't figure out how to make the replacement.

int argument(int x,int y,int z) {
return 0;
} int main() {
int a,b,c;
printf("Enter a value for a(100-999):");
scanf("%d",&a);

C :: Functions To Prove Variables Not Changing By Another Function

C :: Display Histogram Of 1000 Gaussian Distributed Numbers

Mar 5, 2013

I'm writing a program to display a histogram of 1000 Gaussian distributed numbers. I've generated the numbers using rand and now need to transform them. I have found the following formula to use

f(x) = exp(-x^2 / (2*sigma^2)) / sqrt(2*pi*sigma)

And I am unsure how to implement this into a function.

C++ :: How To Linearize A Complex Non-uniform Tree

Oct 25, 2013

I have a tree structure that works likes this.

Each node (if its a 'normal' node) can have 2, 3 or 4 children. I know how to linearize a normal quadtree though it is not memory efficient in this case as the linearization only works for full trees. I'm okay with holes though.

But my tree is slightly odd in that it has non-normal nodes. For example, two leaves will point to a 'dead' node and that dead node has 3 children. Sometimes, 3 leaves will point to a dead node and that dead node will have 2 children. Sometimes, 4 leaves will point to a dead node and that dead node will have 4 children.

So normally, a node will only have one parent and multiple children or it'll just be a leaf. But there are dead nodes that can have 2, 3, or 4 parents and will subsequently have 3, 2 or 4 children respectively.

This is for point location within a Delaunay triangulation and operates off of the idea of volume spanning.

What I abstracted in my code is a 2-to-3, 3-to-2 and 4-to-4 flip. The idea is ,we take 2 tetrahedra and replace them with 3 good tetrahedra but they span the same volume which is good for point location.

As of now, the code that I have works fine. It triangulates tetrahedra and repairs them accordingly but for certain inserts, the search algorithm takes incredibly long and I'm trying to fix that.

I figured a linear structure would be a good attempt so how to linearize a tree that behaves almost polymorphically.

C++ :: Random Number Generator - Count How Many Times Each Number Shows Up

Sep 26, 2012

I'm running a game online and designing a program to generate Enemy Stats. Basically, it's supposed to generate 25 numbers between 0 and 7(to represent 8 Attributes on a 25 Point Buy system) and count how many times each number shows up.

Here's what the code looks like:

Code:
#include <iostream>
#include <ctime>
#include <cstdlib>
using namespace std;
int Generate() {
int r= rand();
int s= r%7;
[Code] ....

And here's two outputs.

C++ :: Random Number Generator Stuck On 1 Number?

Nov 21, 2013

I am working with C++ in Visual Studio. It's my first semester doing anything like this ever. Still, I am embarrassed that I am having trouble with this simple "coin flipping" program. The user tells the program how many times to "flip the coin" & then the program tells the user the results of each flip. You'll see I am randomly generating a 1 or a 2 within the function coinFlip to represent heads or tails. However, the problem is that if the user wants more than one coin flip, the "random" number stays the same for all of them, resulting in all heads or all tails. I am thinking this is an issue with the for loop that I have within the function coinFlip.

#include <iostream>
#include <iomanip>

C/C++ :: Random Number Conundrum

Nov 3, 2014

I've been having 3 days worth of difficulties with a part of my code for a moving-a-robot-around-blocks problem.

No error messages; it runs, it just, sadly, isn't doing what I want it to do.

When I isolate the random-number generating part of the code, it works just fine and give me numbers 0-7. However, when I put those random numbers into another functions to use them as x and y coordinates in the matrix (in order to randomly position 10 blocks, represented by the number 10), and then go to print the matrix (which should be all zeros except for 10 100s), I get a large random number in each position.

#include <time.h>
