C++ :: Program Works In Release Mode Not In Debug?

Feb 20, 2013

i've got an assigment that requires me to overload some operators and add some objects together.

I will show the code and explain as good as I can.

void SArray::operator+= (const SArray &obj)
{
Sphere * tmp_arr;
tmp_arr = new Sphere[obj.antalobjekt+this->antalobjekt]; //antalobjekt = //Gets amount of elements in the arrays.

[Code]......

m_arr is the inner array for storing elements, do ask if something is not clear enough. The copy constructor works, so i have not included it.

I have put some library paths in every project's properties ( i.e ,Config properties - > C/C++ - > Additional Include Directories and Linker - > Additional Include directories ).I developed in debug mode, if i change to release mode, all library settings gone.Is there any possibility to retain all settings when change to debug to release mode and vice versa ?

C++ :: Vector Iterators Incompatible In Debug Mode

Jul 11, 2013

I get this error when i try to run this code for an inventory in debug mode in VS. But for some reason it works just fine in release mode.

void Push_Back_Item(Item *item){
for(int y = 0; y < InvSizeY; y ++)
for(int x = 0; x < InvSizeX; x ++){
auto Iter = ItemList.find(std::make_pair(x,y));
if(Iter != ItemList.end()){
item->SetDead(); // ERROR
}
}
}

This isnt the full code though but it still gives me the same error.

The only thing "item->SetDead()" does is to set a bool to true.

This is the map i get the iterator from
std::map<std::pair<int,int>,Item*> ItemList;

This have been bugging me for quite some time now.

C :: Program Works Primarily By Receiving User Input

Jun 24, 2013

My program works primarily by receiving user input however; using 'char' and 'fgets' i have to stipulate how many characters i want assigned, and this isn't practical for what I am after. Example below.

Code:

char example[50];
printf("What colour is the sky?
");
fgets(example, 50, stdin); Is it possible that the assigned number (in this case '50') is determined strictly by the user input?

for example, user input is Blue then 50 is then 5?

C/C++ :: Calculating Median And Mode In Movie Statistics Program

May 5, 2014

I am having trouble calculating the median and mode in a program that I am writing. When I run the program, lets say there are 5 students being surveyed. The input is as follows, Student #1 sees 2 movies, student #2 sees 6,student #3 sees 5 movies, student #4 sees 2 movies, and student #5 sees 1 movie. However, for the median, I get 5, because that is at element 2, and thus midway through the count, so the program interprets that number as the median. For the mode, even though 5 is repeated twice, the program displays that there was no mode, or displays "-1" (indicating no mode). Here is my code:

Write a program that can be used to gather statistical data about the number of movies college students see in a month. The program should perform the following steps:

A) Ask the user how many students were surveyed. An array of integers with this many elements then be dynamically allocated.

B)/> Allow the user to enter the number of movies each student saw into the array.

C) Calculate and display the average, median, and mode of the values entered.

Input Validation: Do not accept negative numbers for input.

#include <iostream>
#include <iomanip>
using namespace std;
// Function prototypes
double calculateMean(int *, int);
double calculateMedian(int *, int);
int calculateMode(int *, int);

C++ :: Application Release Doesn't Work On Other PC

Dec 9, 2013

I am trying to release my C++ app to run on desktops that dont have VS installed and have created an install shield app to install on the desired computer. my issue is even after packaging it, it still requires certain DLL's...I read online that I had to copy 'msvcr120.dll' and a few others to syswow64 and sys32 folders but now when I try run my app it just crashes before starting.

I think it sucks that Microsoft no longer packages required DLL's like it used to in 2010.

My character goes behind and in front of the last tile and gets printed correctly. Strangely its really exclusive to the last tiles I print. Here is a small sample of my main function. This is how I do my rendering.

C :: Way Recursive Calls Actually Works

This is simple recursive solution of Fibonacci number:

Code:

int fibo(int n)
{
if(n<=1)
return 1;
else
return fibo(n-1)+fibo(n-2);
}

Now the recursion will generate a large recursion tree, like if n=5, 5 will call (5-1), (5-2) or 4,3 . What I want to know is, will fibo(n-1) will be called 1st go all the way to the base case 1, then do the summation or fibo(n-2) will be called right after fibo(n-1) ?

C :: Global Variable - Only Printf Works

Apr 20, 2013

Okay so I am programming an 8051 variant to interact with an SD card. In a separate initialization routine in SD_CARD.c I pull out the vital information of the card into global variables. I then call Menu() which is in another source file but includes a header file with all of the variables declared as extern. Now here is the weird, part this is from my Menu.c

printf("%u" , VOLUME_1_SECTOR);
if(VOLUME_1_SECTOR==16384)
printf("Correct");
else
printf("Incorrect");

Now the output of the first printf is 16384 but the conditional evaluates to false. If I put this code in SD_CARD.c (Where VOLUME_1_SECTOR is defined) the conditional evaluates to true. I am confused why the printf works correctly in Menu.c but not the conditional.

C++ :: Coding And Debug Time Per LOC

Mar 23, 2013

I just spent 3 hours writing and debugging 37 lines of code. Is this normal or am I "below average" in coding abilities. I come from a C background and decided to write C++ code that I finally got right as shown below for the specific example:

Code: #include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
#define SPACE_SEARCH 10
using namespace std;

[code].....

I think it was more the learning along the way that consumed atleast 75% of my time for this specific case. But then again, I read that programming always entails learning along the way and so its somehow no excuse for the long time taken in this specific case.

So as a matter of interest, what pace do all of you operate on, on average? i.e. LOC/day, Debugs per day or any other indicator of productivity?
