C :: Menu For A Project That Takes String Input And Does Whatever Option Specified
Feb 13, 2014
I have a menu for a project that takes a string input and does whatever option you specify. It works perfectly EXCEPT when it goes through the while-loop (while you didn't say quit the menu reloads). It will spew out all the text in the menu like a bulimic teenager. Then it reloads properly and asks you for an input like nothing happened. While this is not a fatal error (code still functions)...
I'm creating a program that is based on a menu system. Basically each menu is its own user-defined function. The problem is at each menu you can input 'b' to go to the previous menu. I just have it call the function of that menu.
However, do the functions need to complete themselves eventually? If I just keep calling functions will I just keep going further and further deeper into ever running functions?
If so how do I avoid this and yet keep the option to go back to a previous menu/function?
I'm writing an addition and subtraction calculator that takes input as: 5+6-3+2. You should be able to add or sub as many numbers as you want. I want the while loop to stop when the user hits enter. I put the getchar() function to catch the and break the loop but it is also swallowing the '-' sign, which I want to use to subtract and is instead adding the numbers with "sum+=number". How can I get around that?
Code:
#include <stdio.h> int main(int argc, char *argv[]){ int number, sum = 0;
I have to make a program that takes a number input from the user and prints the corresponding fibonacci sequence number. For example, for the input of 3, it should print 2 since the third term in the fibonacci sequence is 2.
I am not sure how to do this so for my attempt, I used the formula found in this website. A Formula for the nth Fibonacci number
Here is the program so far. It doesn't produce the correct output.
I am writing a C++ program which takes date & time input from the user. This is then parsed into a struct such as:
struct time { short year; short month; short day; short hour; short min; };
My question is: how can I convert such a struct into a time_t object, which is an unsigned long giving the time as the number of seconds elapsed since the epoch Jan 1st 1970, 00:00, as set out in time.h.
I am wondering if this can be achieved using the standard library, or whether I just need to write a function to perform the appropriate arithmetic.
A program which takes input from user and write it to a file then it reads data from that file then it should search for specific data such as email adresses or url etc.
Write a function that takes two input arguments and provides two separate results to the caller, one that is the result of multiplying the two arguments, the other the result of adding them.Since you can directly return only one value from a function, you'll need the second value to be returned through a pointer or reference parameter.
How do I Write a function that takes two linked list as input arguments these linked list contain numbers like this:
num1->3->5->2->NULL (assuming that number 1 is 352) num2->4->3->9->1->NULL (assuming that number 2 is 4391)
The function should return 1 if num1 points to a linked list which represents a smaller number than the number pointed to by num2 linked list. Otherwise, it returns -1. If both linked list point to exactly the same number, returns a 0.
I just recently finished up a program that implements Dijkstra's Algorithm and I thought I would make a nice little menu for the user.
so the user can input their locations, I use Getline just in case their location contains spaces. However, when the user selects 2, It skips over the first input for the "Source" location and only lets the user input for the "Destination".
Any reason why this would happen? Am I missing something with Getline? Anyway, here's the code...
where to start and how it should be structured. how I should go about writing this program, like should i make functions, pointers, etc. And to display the menu, is it easiest to just use printf statements or is there something more efficient.
I want create menu button to change font of CString displyed in main window. We can see string "SAMPLE",and when i press menu button that i created i want to string "SAMPLE" to display with different font,i already created CFont object and added italic style with CreateFont;
This is my menu function:and CString m_text and CFont font1 are declared in FesbDoc.h
I am trying to write a menu program that will be broken down into a series of calls to function for each of the menu items. Two of the menu items will be simple programs which I wrote.
I want two of the functions to run one of the two programs I am trying to include as items in the menu.
So far I am only familiar with variables, loops, if statements, and I just learned how to write functions.
The problem I am have is that I don't quite understand how to write a function that will run one of the two programs. Also I am having a hard time writing the program in away that would allow the user to select the menu items.
This is what I have so far, it gives me a nice menu to select from and it all works but after I make a selection it closes the program. I tried to return to it but it won't work for me
#include <stdio.h> int main() { int choice; int deposit; int balance = 500; { printf(" CHOOSE FROM THE FOLLOWING
I have a project which does a specific thing, like an open file dialog.
I would like to open it in a different project on a click of a button.
Also, It has a different namespace.
I'm guessing that it would involve a "using" statement to add the namespace And I will have to add reference to an *.exe or *.dll -> I'll have to look up how to make a *.dll, I know where the *.exe file is.
I have searched for a different things on Google, but I don't think that I am looking for the correct phrase (which is always frustrating...)
I just started on a project on c++ and I was wondering if it is possible to add a select option (where the c++ program requires the user to select an option) . I couldn't find this anywhere.
I have two menu items. When item 1 is disabled, I want item 2 to be disabled as well. In the OnUpdate handler of menu item 1, I have tried to use "t_pMenu = pCmdUI->m_pMenu;", "t_pMenu = pCmdUI->m_pSubMenu;" and "t_pMenu = pCmdUI->m_pParentMenu;" but I always get NULL t_pMenu. How can I achieve this purpose?
Very new to programming, and I know that there must be another way on inputting a string into each array cells not by just inputting it one by one, but as a whole. My code at the meantime is: [URL]
I've been having problems with my loop that asks if the user wishes to continue or not. The required input should either be 'y' or 'Y', or 'n' or 'N'. Anything else should be counted as invalid, and repeat the prompt for input. The first few times I ran my program, the compiler does not read it as a loop. The next few times just won't work properly.
Here is the prompt: Code: void question() { char option; printf(" Do you want to continue? {Y|N) "); scanf("%c", &option);
[Code] ......
As it is, it immediately runs the else option, but otherwise runs just fine. I suspect it could be because I have not specified a size for the option variable, but I try doing that, and the prompt relegates everything to the else.
(And also, here's the rest of the code. Basically, it just assigns a value to the letters of the word (a/A = 1, b/B = 2, etc.), adds these values, and determines if a word is prime or not based on the sum.)
Code: #include <stdio.h> #include <string.h> #define size 30 int main() { char letter, word[size], lower, upper, option; int i, value, ans = 0, a, choice = 1;
I have problem with string compare. I want to compare the string user input with a string in binary. And I don't know how to do it. Problem in function login();Here is the code: And you also can download file in attachment too..
I wrote a program that reads a list from a file and stores it in a string type vector. Now, I want the user to input a word so that the program can search the vector to see if that word already exists. I have used every possible way of reading input from the console and storing it in order to compare with the vector but it never results in a match. When I print the input string and the vector string they are exactly the same thing (or at least print to the console as if they were). I've tried using getline; using cin direct to a string var; using cin to a char array and then casting to string using string str(arr); I even added a newline at the end just in case and STILL I cannot get a match.
vector <string> currentSet; //read a list in from a file and has 9 items in it cin.ignore(); string line; getline(cin, line); if(line == vector[0]){//if printed to console line is HEAT and vector[0] is HEAT cout<<"match"<<endl; }
write a program that prompts the user to input a string and outputs the string in uppercase letters. (Use a character array to store the string.) Does this follow the criteria? This program is very similar to one I found on these forums but I have one problem, it outputs everything backwards! EX: dogs will output to SGOD. What I need to do to make it output correctly, I think it may have to do with getline?
#include <iostream> #include <cctype> #include <cstring> using namespace std; int main() { char let[100]; cout << "Enter what you would like to be UPPERCASE: ";
So , i had to make an rock paper scissors game . After lot of hard work and struggle ,I completed it but my professor rejected it since I didnot add option where it says "Would you like to play again .Y/N " . The code has too many brackets ! Here is my code
#include <iostream> #include <ctime> #include <cstdlib> using namespace std;
// for displaying the outputs to the user; passing string to functions void user_win() {
