C++ :: Generating Poisson Arrivals - Size Of Packets

Jan 30, 2015

There is something I didn't understand. I use the sample given from the cpp reference to generate numbers:

const int nrolls = 10; // number of experiments

std::default_random_engine generator;
std::poisson_distribution<int> distribution(4.1);

for (int i=0; i<nrolls; ++i){
int number = distribution(generator);
cout<<number<<" "<<endl;
}

(original code: [URL] ... )

This outputs: 2 3 1 4 3 4 4 3 2 3 and so on... First of all what those numbers mean? I mean do I have to sum them to create timing? For example: 2, (2+3)=5, (5+1)=6, (6+4)=10,..., and so on..

Secondly, my real question is, I need to produce both random arrivals for network packets and the size of packets. I mean, when the packets come and if packets come, what are the size of packets? How can I do that? I need something like that: [URL] ...

C++ :: Accessing Poisson Distribution Template?

Jun 21, 2013

I am using QT Creator 2.4.1 based on 4.7.4.

I wanted to generate a standard normal poisson distribution. So I used the template poisson distribution included in the header <random> by setting the value of mean to 0 and variance to 1.

I copied the entire example code for testing it but I get an error like "This file requires compiler and library support for the upcoming ISO C++ standard, C++0x. This support is currently experimental, and must be enabled with the -std=c++0x or -std=gnu++0x compiler options."

I just keep getting a log showing that my recvfrom timed out. I'm pretty sure I'm setting everything up correctly.

struct sockaddr_in si_me;
int sock_fd;
struct ifaddrs * ifAddrStruct=NULL;

C++ :: Packets And Tcp Simulation?

Nov 24, 2014

I have to write a program to take packets of information destined for certain ports then provide the current message using the packets I've gotten so far. Packets can come out of order, so when asked for the message, packets that haven't arrived yet are skipped and the next packet is appended. After giving the message, I have to delete all the current packets as well as ones that are received late, after the packets that were supposed come after the late packet were already provided in the message.

Data:Up to 1000 ports, numbered 0-64000, and each message can contain up to 1000 packets.

C# :: Sending X-AMF Type Packets

Jan 10, 2015

create BOT that adds friends on one of Chat websites.

Im using C#

On website there is a button that adds user to friends

<li class="friend"><a href="javascript:void(0)">Add Friend</a></li>

I captured packet that is sended to server then that button is clicked

POST (info hided)/amfgateway.php HTTP/1.1Host: (info hided)
Connection: keep-alive
Content-Length: 52

[Code].....

It apears that this is AMF(Action Message Format) type packet Content-Type: application/x-amf it is in binary and this complicates things a little because I cannot send it with regular httpwebreqeuest class(Or I think so)

I used Fiddler4 with AMF plugin to check what data was passed with that packet

It apears that these numbers under content / 0 are User-id that is needed to add user to friends

I did a research with little success finding any usefull examples. I just found that there is a library for FLEX/FLASH remoting called fluorinefx and this should do the job but when I opened documentation it seems little too complex for me.

C++ :: Saving Packets Of Data To A Vector?

Jul 18, 2014

I am receiving packets of data from an ethernet cable. This is the line of code that is streaming in data from the ethernet cable:

size_t num_rx_samps = rx_stream->recv(&buff.front(), buff.size(), md, 3.0, enable_size_map);[code]

Here are the segments of me trying to push the packets onto a vector:

[code]
std::vector<size_t> processing_queue; //HERE IS WHERE I'M TRYING TO PUSH THE PACKETS ONTO A VECTOR
processing_queue.push_back(num_rx_samps);

I previously had my program saving to a .dat file (the commented out lines), but I need to change it to pushing values onto a vector so I can stream the data packets from the ethernet cable to be processed. However, the packets aren't being pushed onto the stack as I suspected. What do I need to change to push the data packets onto a vector? The following is the code:

#include <uhd/utils/safe_main.hpp>

C :: Parsing Char Array To Array Of Struct To Process Packets

May 28, 2013

I wrote this simplified version of a program i am writing that parses data in UDP packets. In the process of doing so i pretty much answered all my questions and fix all the problems i was having.

decodeSystemMap function will be in loop, and will proccess packets that have mostly the same data, only a few items will be added or changed or deleted.

whats the best way to check if there are any new, deleted, or removed items in the packet and only modify those?
Is there anything unsafe / dangrous about the way the code is now?

Visual C++ :: Text Size In Screen Is Different From Size In Print Preview?

Feb 1, 2013

I must take an old MFC project in VC++ 6.0 and make changes.

The problem is text size in screen is different from size in print preview.

for example with this font

Code:
CFont f50;
f50.CreateFont(100,0,0,0,FW_BOLD,0,0,0,DEFAULT_CHARSET,OUT_DEFAULT_PRECIS,
CLIP_DEFAULT_PRECIS,DEFAULT_QUALITY,FF_DONTCARE,"Frutiger LT Std 45 Light");

And this text

Code:
s=_T("Let's try to calculate the size of this text");

and with MM_LOMETRIC map mode

GetTextExtent() returns me:

On screen: (1595,99)
Ink printer + print preview: (1589,100)
PDFCreator + print preview: (1580,100)

comparing with screen size the height is bigger but lenght is smaller. I don't understand.

I can understand that different printers process the fonts in different way and then to have different lenghts. That's not the problem. The problem is I need to simulate in screen the same behaviour i will have on printer because these texts are being aligned in the document, and I don't want to see that the text si aligned different in text than in paper.

What can I do to render the text on screen with the same size I will have on the printer? Print preview is doing it. Should I change the font parameters? is something related with pixels per inch?

C++ :: Generating Big Random Numbers In C

Feb 16, 2013

I want to generate big random numbers in C(not C++ please).By "big" I mean integers much bigger than srand(time(NULL)) and rand() functions' limit(32767).

I tried writing: (note:I am not able to see "code" tag button in this editor,so I am not using it)

//****
int randomnumber;
srand( time(NULL) );
randomnumber = (( rand() % 33 ) * ( rand() % 33 ) * ( rand() % 33) * ( rand() * 33) * (rand() % 33 )) + 1
//****

But I have doubts about it's randomness quality.Also there is another problem,the program can't know the maximum random number it should use before user input,so maximum random number may need to use much smaller maximum random number according to user input.

Is there a better algorithm to create big random numbers in C?

C++ :: Generating Random Integers?

Jun 9, 2013

I'm creating a game in C++ and need to generate random numbers. I know about

int main()
{
srand(time(NULL)); //Initialises randomiser or sum' like that
int x=rand%10; //Generates from 0-9
cout<<x;
}

Now, I need the best way to generate random numbers. Do I call "srand(time(NULL));" every time I want to randomise? What is the best method to generate a nearly perfect random number?

I may need to call a randomiser more than once a second, so taking second as seed (I believe that's what srand(time(NULL)); does).

C++ :: Generating Random Numbers In Parallel

Nov 8, 2013

I generate a series of random numbers in parallel (using OpenMP), but depending on what number of threads I invoke, I get a different result. From that I conclude that I have made an error somewhere!

Here is the MWE, which generates a number between 0..1 and increments a variable if the generated variable is larger than 0.5:

Code:
#include <random>
typedef std::uniform_real_distribution<double> distr_uni;
#define max_threads 1
using namespace std;

[Code] ....

When I set max_threads=1 I get 50027, but when max_threads=60 (on a machine that supports it....) I get 50440.

The sensitive RNG and its engine I have declared within the parallelized area, so it's not really clear to me where the error can possibly be.

Looking for error that is apparently there?

C++ :: Program That Keeps Generating Two Random Numbers Between 1 And 10

May 6, 2013

#include <ctime>
#include <iostream>
#include <cstdlib>
using namespace std;
int main() {

[Code] ....

Write a program that keeps generating two random numbers between 1 and 10 and asks the user for the product of the two numbers, e.g.: "What is 4 x 6?". If the user answers correctly, the program responds with "Right!"; otherwise, it displays: Wrong! 4 x 6 = 24.

Generate as many pairs of numbers as specified and get the answers from the user for each. If at any time, both numbers are the same as last time, generate two new numbers before asking for the answer. Continue generating 2 new numbers until at least one is different from last time.

After presenting the number of pairs of numbers specified and getting the answers, display how many the user got right; e.g.: You got 4 of 5 right. Then, ask if he or she wants to play again, like so: "Do you want to play again? [y/n]". If the user answers with 'y' or 'Y', it again reads the number of questions to ask and generates that many pairs of numbers and reads the answers like before. If the answer is n or N, it quits generating numbers. If the answer is anything but y, Y, n or N, it tells the user to enter one of those letters until it is.

When the user decides to quit and has got less than 75% of all the questions right, the program displays the multiplication table (1x1 through 10x10) before terminating.

After displaying the table, randomly generate two numbers between 1 and 10, display their product and first number and ask the user to guess the second as more practice. For example, the program will generate 7 and 9 and will display 63 and 7 and the user must guess the second number (i.e.: 9). Do this 3 times. Do not repeat code. Use a loop to do this 3 times.

Use a nested for loop to display the table; a bunch of cout statements will not be acceptable. You must also use a loop for any part that calls for repetition such as generating 5 pairs of numbers.

The following is a sample interaction between the user and the program:

Enter the number of questions to ask: 5

1. What is 3 x 9? 27
Right!

2. What is 2 x 7? 14
Right!

3. What is 8 x 9? 63
Wrong! 8 x 9 = 72

4. What is 6 x 3? 21
Wrong! 6 x 3 = 18

5. What is 2 x 9? 18
Right!

You got 3 out of 5 right which is 60%.

Play agian? [y/n] n
