C# :: File Gets Locked For Editing When Use Openfiledialog

Oct 30, 2014

I have a button that opens a file dialog box so that a user can pick a file. I only need it for the path and file name to be passed to another program. I do not want to open the file or care about its contents. I just want the name and path.

private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
OpenFileDialog dialog = new OpenFileDialog();

[Code].....

The problem is that as long as the program is running the file that the user picked is locked for editing. Adding the Dispose() had no affect. Multiselect and ReadOnlyChecked have no affect. Only closing the application frees the file.

C++ :: Reading And Editing A File Bit By Bit

Basically what I am looking for is a way to get a block memory, copy it into ram in a format along the line of bit[#], replace the original with a new code that may or may not be the same size(they will be something to ensure does not try to save a fraction of a byte).

Is there an easy way to do this or do I just need to read work from a bin file?

C++ :: Inventory Control Application - Editing Text File

Nov 14, 2014

You are requested to create an inventory control application for a drink stall (give a name to the stall). The application is used to show the list of drinks the stall sells, how many of each item on‐hand and the cost of each item. The records are to be saved and retrieved to/from a binary file called “drinks.txt”. For each drink in the stall, your program is to keep the information as a Record Structure called DrinkRecord. The structure should at least consist of the following:

(1) Item Number
(2) Item Name
(3) Quantity
(4) Unit Price

Your application should have the following features:
(a) Display a drink information
(b) Add a new drink information
(c) Update a new drink information
(d) Delete a drink information
(e) Display all drink information

#include <string>
#include <fstream>
#include <vector>
#include <iterator>
#include <algorithm>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <iomanip>

[code].....

Everything works fine with minor issues, but I'm having trouble with the editing function. I need to be able to search for a specific drink then be able to edit its contents and print the new contents to the file. I have not created a structure yet. I will do that as soon as possible.

Visual C++ :: How To Log Off A User When Workstation Is Locked

Nov 30, 2013

I wrote a Windows application that comes with two modules: service and user-mode exes. The service implements its own scheduler and may log-off a user at a predefined time. For that I was using the following call that is triggered from my user-mode module exe in a logged-on user session that has to be logged off:

Code : BOOL result = ExitWindowsEx(EWX_LOGOFF, reason);

This works fine, except of the situation when a user's account is locked. In that case that API doesn't seem to do anything at all even through I get 1 returned from it.

So I was curious, is there any other way to log off a user when their account is locked? (One condition I have in this case is that if that user had any unsaved documents then the log-off should not be forced.)

C/C++ :: Editing Vec3 Variables?

This is one of the functions that is called when creating the particle,void Particles_Create(i32 iID, Vec3 &vecPos, i32 ProjectileType, i32 iNumberOfParticles, float fSpread, float fGrowSpeed, float fMaxSpeed, float fMaxSize, float fParticleTime);

I want to be able to change the "Vec3 &vecPos" variable, when I define the variable that goes into the function I've defined it as: "Vec3 vecPos;" if I define it as "Vec3 vecPos(float fvx,float fvy,float fvz);" the variable cant be fed into the function.

I cant change my function because its used elsewhere but I want to be able to change the x,y and z elements inside the Vec3 vecPos variable. How without redefining it as Vec3 vecPos(float fvx,float fvy,float fvz);

C# :: Microsoft Word Editing With Toolbars?

Dec 6, 2014

I'm trying to create a program for my wife to be able to browser through and edit folders and specifically word documents- really just a shiny organization tool without having to open up Word. I'll be integrating other functions into this program but Word is what I'm worried about.

At the moment I've been able to create a file browser with the ability to add and remove files within the main directory of the program. Basically just C:Users\%user%mainDirdata*

Within the data folder I have the main folders which will be displayed as tabs across the top and then any subfolders of the main folders will be displayed on the left side after you click on the main tab.

[URL]

I'd need the toolbars to be integrated into the program across the top and then a window that changes depending on the document selected on the left side based on the content of the word document located in that folder. I haven't been able to find anything online and I'm not really able to spend $800 on the alternates that look like they just do automation as well.

C++ :: For Loop Theory For Tile Map Editing Program

Jul 10, 2013

Basically I have an tile class with the following variables: x, y, texture, and solid. I have created an array called tile MAP[map_tiles_x][map_tiles_y]. The object of the following snip-it of code is to loop through all of the tiles in the map placing their default values in each. For some reason this code does not work as planned, but in theory shouldn't it? I cannot see why it doesn't work. (BTW I do plan on open sourcing this map editor.

void init_map(){
for (int tile_y; tile_y < map_tiles_y; tile_y++){
for (int tile_x; tile_x < map_tiles_x; tile_x++){
MAP[tile_x][tile_y].x = tile_x * tile_size;
MAP[tile_x][tile_y].y = tile_y * tile_size;
MAP[tile_x][tile_y].solid = false;
std::cout << MAP[tile_x][tile_y].x << ", " << MAP[tile_x][tile_y].y;
} }

I should also add the effect of the code. Basically it only sets the default coordinates for the first object :/.

Now my question is, how do I get the text to appear without closing the child? I hit a button to send the info to the text box, but it still doesn't appear until the child closes. I also need to set up a button to suspend the child so that the user can click/copy/etc the parent.

Visual C++ :: CFileDialog Saves File In Project File - Not Specified File

Apr 12, 2013

I'm very new to MFC & VisualC++. I'm using MSVS2010 Pro. I am trying to write/debug a simple form that saves and restores the content of some edit controls. It seems to work as expected, except the file saves only to the Project Folder, regardless of where I browse and select to save the file.

Code:
void CMFC_FileDialogDlg::OnBnClickedbtnsave() {
this->UpdateData();
CFile f;
//Kinda Correct, Works but still saves in Project Folder
BOOL b_OpenFileDialog = FALSE;//this doesn't act as bool in CFileDialog?

My only experience is a little simple VB programming in Excel, so any specific examples??? Also, rules seem to change from version to version? I have to "update" a number of undocumented programs.

C :: Program To Calculate Students Grades From Input File And Write To Output File

Aug 29, 2014

One of my class assignments is to create a program that receive a .txt file containing a students name and their grades as follows:

John K. 99, 87, 57, 89, 90, 95
Amanda B. Jones 100, 88, 76, 99, 86, 92
etc..

The number of students is unknown until run time. You have to take those grades and average them weighing the first (4) at 10% a piece and the last (2) at 30% each.

Then return an output file with the students name and their letter grade A,B,C,D,F based on their computed score. In addition, on screen it needs to display the average scores for each Q1, Q2, etc. as well as the minimum and maximum for each test on the screen. I am having a hard time in assigning the scores to a variable so that they can then be computed as an average and then used to determine a letter grade. I have begun to write the code and am a bit stuck..here's what I have so far:

Code:

#include <stdio.h>

C :: Create File To Write Text And Read Back The File Content

Mar 15, 2013

The Objective Of This Program Is To Create A File To Write Text And Read Back The File Content. To Do That I Have Made Two Function writeFile() To Write And readFile() To Read.The readFile() function works just fine but writeFile() doesn't.

How writeFile() function Works? when writeFile() function Execute It Takes Characters User Type And When Hit Enter(ASC|| 10) It Ask "More?(Y/N)" That Means What User Want? Want To Go Next Line Or End Input?

If "Y" Than Inputs Are Taken From Next Line Else Input Ends.

But The Problem Is When Program Encounters ch==10 It Shows "More?(Y/N)" And Takes Input In cmd variable.If cmd=='Y' I Mean More From Next Line Than It Should Execute Scanf Again To Take ch I Mean User Input.But Its Not!!! Its Always Showing "More?(Y/N)" Again And Again Like A Loop.

Code:
#include <stdio.h>
void writeFile(void);
void readFile(void);
int main(){

C :: Printing Contents Of A File - Prints One Extra Character Not Present In The File

Feb 12, 2013

I'm writing a program that stores records into a file and then these records can be printed out. A last name, first name, and score is stored to be exactly 36 characters long (using leading spaces to pad) making it easier to retrieve specific records. For example, three records stored in the file would like like this: (the underscores are simply to illustrate the distance, they are not in the file itself)

_______lastname_______firstname__90__________lname __________fname_100___________last___________first __60

When printed out, the names are formatted as follows:

lastname, firstname: 90
lname, fname: 100
last, first: 60

However, when I print them out this is what I get:

lastname, firstname: 90
lname, fname: 100$
last, first: 60H

For some reason, for any record after the first, an extra character is added to the end. These characters are not in the file, so I was thinking that the array for some reason wasn't being filled completely, (the array is initialized to size 36 and 36 characters are read from the file using fread) so it was printing out a random character assigned to the 36th array position. Except the character never changes, (always a $ for record 2, H for record 3, l for record 4 if i remember) and I've tried reducing the array size or the number of character read and it's the string that gets altered, the random character always remains. I figure the problem must be in the print_records function (appending seems to work no problem). Anyway here is my print records and appending records code.

Code: /*
- Prints a single record stored in the file pointed to by ifp.
*/
void print_record(FILE *ifp, int record) {
