I'm trying to make my 1v1 game playable online and I would like to have the 2 players connected directly rather than trough a server.
The problem I'm having is that I don't have any experience with server client communication or internet libraries in c++
My SDL app which i made in visual c++ works properly on my pc, but it does not even starts on other computers. I have pasted all the required .dll files in my debug folder along with the pictures and sounds.

I have a Blackjack game that allows users to create a login account and it keeps track of their bet amount, and total bank,etc. How can I connect the program on 2 or more computers so that people can play together?
(A) How would I code it? (B) Can I just connect a USB or HDMI and use the appropriate code? (C) Do they need to be executables instead of just running out of Visual Studio? (D) Can this maybe done over Wi-fi? (E) Or is this something more complicated like over a VPN?
I'm currently making something with C++ for a computer at my house. I have a program in which I let run minimized and hidden on my home computer which will save any application that is opened. It will log it so I know if my kids are on my office computer (they shouldn't be.).
I'm curious as to if I can make the program linked to a program I make on my work computer (at my workplace) and execute a command. I'm interested in making it so I can always be connected from the Workplace app to the Home Office App.
My idea for the program is to have a sort of administrative way of shutting the computer down or locking it remotely. If I see they are using the PC in my office, I want to be able to simply type a phrase and shut the computer off or lock them out.
I need to transfer files(mainly images) between 2 computers using their RAM with some kind of FTP. I'm using C++. I guess it's pretty a lot to explain so if you have a clear and detailed articles/videos

I succeeded in adding NetFrameWork 4.5 installer into the setup (it runs it after installation, and before running my software (named GOFINDER).
Now, i remember that this happened to me, but after three months of programming, mine used to start and still does. But I know it sometimes doesn't start, and I don't know why exactly.
I checked to make sure that I needed only FrameWork 4.5.
But maybe it is because of Visual C++ Runtime wich is not added upon setup.
I will try to check this after posting cause this has just popped up in my mind.
I'm asking you how can I Make sure, that distributing my software won't do that anymore.
Is it because my application file is not set on Run as Administrator?
Cause normally, it opens without this necesity, except as a Shell (well I have to check back but I think it does if I check on the run as administrator checkbox.
The problem is not really with InnoSetup, but I also would like to know how I can check that box automatically upon setup.

And... why would it start on my computer, and not on my beta-testers's one?

I have a mobile application for android coded in javascript and a windows form coded in c#. I want my mobile app to send some data to the c# program. It is fine if the transmission is not secure. I searched the net. I found a site called pastebin.com. Unfortunately it provides api for posting and reading data. However I want something, where I can store,read as well as EDIT the data.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I have my GUI far along enough to start incorporating my program, but I am hesitant to start because I want to be careful to do it in an effective and easy to manage way.
The code so far for the GUI alone is about 2100 lines, and I estimate it will be about 8000-10000 lines long when the program is complete. The code for the actual program (without GUI), is about 6000 lines long so far, and will probably get up to about 10,000 when I've added most of what I intend.
Is it a good idea to have the GUI portion, or at least some of it in a separate source file? If you were to do this, how would you? Obviously you can only have one main function. Would you have a file just for the main function, a header file with all the necessary includes and global variables, and put different portions of the rest in separate files.
Concerning the GUI; In my main function, if you click a button, a function connected to that button is called. Inside that function, I may have code to hide many other buttons while this button is selected; Also to manage effects which see visually which button is selected. My program so far has like 70 different GUI objects which all get modified, hidden, shown, etc in different circumstances, and multiple menus.
My question; what's the most reasonable way to do this? Right now all my buttons, and their associated objects are all global. Is this reasonable? Is there an exception to the globals are bad rule in cases like this?
I need to create a client and server program. The client will have a GUI that will display all the available servers (since more than one will be running) in a list box.
I’m guessing a TCP connection will be the best method here, but how will the client find the servers to connect to? I won’t know the IP address of the server because anyone could take the server program and run it on their computer and the client would have to find it.
Is there some way to make the server send some kind of signal that only the client application will be to connect to? So the server will be sending out a signal, the client finds the signal and connects to the server. Is this possible?
i also need to be able to store the IP address the client selects so when the client application is run again it will automatically connect to the server that was stored.

The only issue I have is trying to find out how to force the app to reconnect if the internet drops out without the app crashing. From what I have read I could use "try and catch" but I am not sure how to do this.

I have added sql browser & sql server in fire wall, and also enabled tcp port 1433 and udp port 1434. the above connection string works perfect when i run it in the server machine, but whenIi try to run it on other machines I am getting an error that server is not available or cannot find the specified server.. I'm making a small MFC module that should generate a report (formatted using HTML) and then display it for a user on schedule at 8:30 AM every day. Pretty straightforward stuff.
I compose my report and then save it as a local HTML file in the CSIDL_APPDATA folder. I then use the following calls to display it using the default web browser (Internet Explorer in this case):

This module is run on schedule from the Task Scheduler. (The task is set up to run when a user is logged on, which is all the time for that PC. It is never turned off, put to sleep, etc. That computer has only one user that is never logged off either.)
This works perfectly fine when I test it by setting the task a minute or so in the future. But when the actual task is supposed to run at 8:30 AM, when the user wakes the screen all they see is a blank Internet Explorer page. (Note that if someone refreshes that page by hitting F5, only then my report is shown on the screen.)
So I started looking into it:
1) I checked that the file is properly saved (before calling ShellExecute) by reading it back and by comparing it with the original HTML markup that I saved earlier. It's all correct there.
2) I then checked the power saving options. That computer is set up to show screensaver after 5 minutes and to turn off screen after 25 minutes.
3) The web browser that causes this issue is IE version 11, with the latest updates installed. The operating system is Windows 7 Professional.
And why is IE showing a blank page only when computer is running unattended?
