C/C++ :: Keep Getting Error C2536 When Write Array

Apr 6, 2014

I have this problem when I write this string array of months. I've tried making it a const, static, even const char * but nothing seems to work. I was wondering if I had to make a constructor for it but I'm not sure how to do that.

const int NUMBER_OF_MONTHS = 12;
class Date
{
public:

[Code]....

This is the error i get: error C2536: 'Date::Date::n_month' : cannot specify explicit initializer for arrays

C :: Write Text And Find Frequency Of 1 Chosen Character In It - Input Error Handling

Dec 20, 2014

I'm new in programming, and trying to write a code in C. The requirement is following - to write a text, and to find frequency of 1 chosen character in it. The main thing is that program should check user input (for example, I want to check if user entered "char" --> then correct, or if entered "int" --> not correct). But the program still doesn't check. So I have:

Code:
#include <stdio.h>
int main(){
char c[1000], ch;
char i, count=0;
printf("Enter a text: ");
gets(c);

[Code] ....

Am I on my right way using if/else?

C :: Read And Write Datatypes To Memory Array

Oct 5, 2014

I'm not sure if I should do this with malloc or a char array. What I need to do is create 4 methods to read and 4 to write to memory like this (and it has to be fast):

Code:

char GetByte(char* memory, int offset);
uint16 GetInt16(char* memory, int offset);
uint32 GetInt32(char* memory, int offset);
char[] GetString(char* memory, int offset);

So basically memory is the malloced memory and the offset is the position I want to read at.

I'm not sure if there's already a way to do this and maybe I'm overlooking something.

C/C++ :: Write A Program That Adds Numbers To Array

Jan 18, 2015

I am trying to write a program that adds numbers to an array. The array capacity starts out at 2, then doubles whenever the size reaches capacity. The program works perfectly fine when the array needs to be expanded. So I have narrowed down the issues into this one function (_dynArrSetCapacity)

Creates original array
DynArr* createDynArr(int cap) {
assert(cap > 0);
DynArr *r = (DynArr *)malloc(sizeof( DynArr));
assert(r != 0);
initDynArr(r,cap);

[Code]...

If i do createDynArr(10) for instance in the main, the program works perfectly, as it never gets expanded

C/C++ :: Read And Write Datatypes To Memory Array

Oct 5, 2014

I decided I wanted to make a proper programming language with a virtual machine and bytecode. I used this tutorial: [URL] .....

As a starting point for my project. So far I have modified it to allow for 32-bit addressing so that I can theoretically use 4GB in my programs. Now the problem I'm having is creating the memory.

Question:

I'm not sure if I should do this with malloc or a char array. What I need to do is create 4 methods to read and 4 to write to memory like this (and it has to be fast):

char GetByte(char* memory, int offset);

C++ :: How To Write Undetermined Size Array To TXT File

Oct 22, 2013

I'm doing a Text-based RPG game and it will include some checkpoints, on those checkpoints the game will save the progress, so I need to write all my variables to a text file and then read them all when the player loads the game.

Some of my variables, like enemyNames, dont have any determined size, they're like this: "int enemyNames[];"

So how do I write an array to a text file without determining a size?

And how do I read them when the player loads the game?

C++ :: Write A Function That Return Maximum Value Of Array Of Doubles?

Oct 9, 2014

I'm trying to get correct answers from my exam to study for a midterm:

Write a function that returns the maximum value of an array of doubles.

Declaration:

double maximum(array[],int a_size);

So far I've done:

double maximum(array[], int a_size) {
double maxVal;
maxVal = array[0];
for(int i=1; i < size; i++) {
if(array[i] > max
maxVal=array[i]
}
return maxVal;
}

I just need any corrections.

Second, I need to write a function definition that merges two vectors containing integers, alternating elements from both vectors.

Prototype:

vector<int> merge(const vector<int> a, const vector<int> b);

This is my definition so far:

vector<int>merge(const vector<int> a, const vector<int> b){
vector<int> merged;
for(int i=0; i<a.size+b.size; i++) {
if(flag == true)
merged.push_back(a);
flag = false;
else
merged.push_back(b)
flag = true;}

I think I'm lost in the second part...

C :: Write A Function That Finds Integer In Array And Returns Its Corresponding Index

Mar 20, 2013

I have an assignment which requires me to do the following:

Required to write a function that finds an integer in an array and returns its corresponding index. The function must be called findNumber. It must have FOUR parameters:

- The first parameter is the array to be searched
- The second parameter is the integer to be found within the array
- The third parameter is the size of the array
- The fourth parameter is an integer that indicates whether the array is sorted. A value of 1 means the array is sorted; a value of zero means the array is not sorted.

Since a function can only return one value(To return the position of a required integer in an array in this instance) I have tried to make use of pointers to try and return a value stating whether the array is sorted or not.This is my code : (It compiles perfectly but it does not produce any outputs)

Code:

#include <stdio.h>
#define SIZE 10
size_t findNumber(int *sort, const int array[],int key,size_t size);
int main(void){
int a[SIZE];
size_t x;
