C/C++ :: Finding Highest Frequency From Array Of Characters

Jan 27, 2015

I have been working on a project that deals with an array of characters and finding there frequencies. I was able to determine the frequencies that where greater than 1, but I need to find the HIGHEST frequency.

Here is my full code:

#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
void input(char unlisted[80], int& n);
void bubblesort(char unlisted[80], char sortedlist[80], int n);

[Code].....

As you can see this will print out all frequencies that are bigger than 1, but I only want the highest frequency. Basically I want to print out all frequencies when count is greater than 1 less than count, but because its in a loop count will always be greater than count-1 so it prints out all frequencies.

C :: Write Text And Find Frequency Of 1 Chosen Character In It - Input Error Handling

Dec 20, 2014

I'm new in programming, and trying to write a code in C. The requirement is following - to write a text, and to find frequency of 1 chosen character in it. The main thing is that program should check user input (for example, I want to check if user entered "char" --> then correct, or if entered "int" --> not correct). But the program still doesn't check. So I have:

Code:
#include <stdio.h>
int main(){
char c[1000], ch;
char i, count=0;
printf("Enter a text: ");
gets(c);

[Code] ....

Am I on my right way using if/else?

Code:

#include <ctime>
#include <iostream>

int find_highest(int array[]);
int find_highest (int array[], int size) {
int highest_num;

C++ :: Finding Lowest / Highest In Multi-dimensional Array

Mar 25, 2013

I have this multi-dimensional array. There are 12 rows, each represents the months, and 2 columns, the 1st column represents the lowest temperature and the 2nd column represents the highest temperature.

I need to find the lowest temperature in only the first column and the highest in only the 2nd column.

This takes in the temperatures. LOHI = 2, MONTHS = 12, LOW = 0, HIGH = 1

void PopulateTemp(int temp[][LOHI])
{
for(int month = 0; month < MONTHS; month++)
{
cout << "Month " << month+1 << endl;

[Code]......

My professor said we only needed 1 for loop as you only need to read the data from one column in each?

I'm trying to figure out the word frequency of a user inserted string. I've tried doing it via getline of the struct array and via the getline of the string word but neither either the former crashes or the latter just prints out the whole string.

Here is the latter.

#include "stdafx.h"
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
#define MAX_WORDS 200

C/C++ :: Replacing Character In String With Another Character

Sep 13, 2014

So I'm trying to create a function that replaces any instance of a character in a string with another. So first I tried the replace() string member function:

In my implementation file

void NewString::ReplaceChar(const char& target,const char& entry)
{
this->replace(this->begin(),this->end(), target, entry);
};

Main program

#include "NewString.h"
using namespace ...;
int main()

[Code].....

Instead of replacing the the l's with y's it outputted a long string of y's. Also, NewString is derived from the string class (it's for the assignment). the header and whole implementation file, already tested.

I've also tried, instead, to use a for loop in ReplaceChar() but I need to overload the == operator and I don't know how I should exactly:

bool NewString::operator ==(const char& target)const {
if(*this == target)
return true;

[Code]....

I want the == operator to test if the value in the char array is equal to target but I'm not sure how to pass in the position. I'm guessing the this pointer in ReplaceChar() is not the same as the one dereferenced in ==() because target is never replaced by entry in the string.

And I need to find something like "target sting" inside another sting.

I used .IndexOf() but noticed it ignores leading spaces.

So then I went with .Substring() but that doesn't seem like that's the best solution either.

C++ :: Finding A String Within Array?

Jan 14, 2013

i just want to check to see if one word (string) or one sentance is equal to any others within an array. My code

so basically i want to check if a is equal to either "sleep", "in", or "bed". Or even if the string within a is equal to "sleep in bed" as one string.

I have used the following but even if i get it correct and it says correct it says incorrect another 2 times because it is saying yeah you have gotten one right out of the possible 3. Even if I type "sleep in bed" it still does it (prints out incorrect another 2 times. Also are there any good books to start off with c++?

string a;
string aa[3] = {"sleep", "in", "bed"};
for(int i = 0; i < 3; i++) {
if(a == aa[i]) {
cout << "CORRECT!" << endl;
} else {
cout << "INCORRECT!" << endl;
}
}

C# :: How To Get Int Value Of Each Character In A String And Then Add Them All Together

Aug 20, 2012

I'm trying to get the int value of each character in a string and then add them all together so I can do a 1's complement of the total value. I'm trying to do simple checkum kinda of thing for verification of data.

For example: string DPacket = "Hello World!";

I would like to have each character added and do the ones complement. Will it be easier to convert first to int and then add or any other easier way? So my result should be the decimal value addition of each character and then do the ones complement to that.

C++ :: Finding Location Of Double In String

May 19, 2014

I know how to find the occurrences of a character in a string, but I have a more specific problem.

For example, consider the string:
" C 1.3825 4.0000 12.0000 1.9133 0.1853 0.9000 -1.1359 4.0000 "

I want to extract a vector that contains the positions of every first character for each number.

For the example above, the output should be a vector with elements [6 15 23 33 etc...]. These are the positions of the first character for every number.

I need to be able to do this for any arbitrary string with any arbitrary amount of numbers and characters in it (I also need to account for negative numbers).

i couldnt solve the algorithm exactly. The program asks the user for a string. "Bugun h@v@ cok g'uzel" for example. then the program asks for another string. If that string doesnt exists in the main string program should say there isnt any substring. If it exist then the program should print the remaining part of main string. For example:

Write the first string: Tod@y weather is be'@utiful
write the substring : ug
>>ugun h@v@ cok guzel
write the substring :wldnqwbdbj
>>there isnt any substring

if(char_set[val])
{
return false;
}
char_set[val] = true;

I take each character in the sting and traverse the whole string .and if count is 2 i use break and conclude that its not unique and not otherwise...can i use this method or this is not efficient????
