C/C++ :: Drivers License Exam (Read Results From File)

Apr 14, 2015

How to get this code to compile and build. It gives me a really strange error saying:

"1>Project 7 Code.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "void __cdecl checkAnswers(char * const,char * const,int,int)" (?checkAnswers@@YAXQAD0HH@Z) referenced in function _main
1>C:UsersHaruha Raharu HarukoDesktopSpring 2015 Class WorkIntro to ProgrammingProject 7Project 7DebugProject 7.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 1 unresolved externals"

Here is the specifics on the assignment:

"Complete Programming Challenge #12 (Driver's License Exam) with file modification

The State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has asked you to write a program that grades the written portion of the driver's license exam, which has 20 multiple choice questions.

Here are the correct answers:

1. B 5. C 9. C 13. D 17. C
2. D 6. A 10. D 14. A 18. B
3. A 7. B 11. B 15. D 19. D
4. A 8. A 12. C 16. C 20. A

Create a TestGrader class. The class will have an answers array of 20 characters, which holds the correct test answers. It will also have a student array of 20 characters to hold the student's answers. It will have three public member functions that enable user programs to interact with the class: setKey, setStudent, and grade. The setkey function receives a 20-character string holding the correct answers and copies this information into the answers array. The setStudent function will read in the student's answers from the file student.txt and will store the answers in a 20-character array named student. The grade method will compare each student answer to the correct answer in the key.

An applicant must correctly answer 15 or more of the 20 questions to pass the exam. After grading the exam, the program should display the following items:

-the number of right answers and the number of wrong answers
-a list of the question numbers for all incorrectly answered questions
-a message indicating whether the applicant passed or failed the exam"

C/C++ :: Windows File Filter Drivers?

Apr 14, 2014

I am starting a project in a few weeks that needs to be able to prevent an executable from running until it has been checked for various criteria (think of it as a DIY anti virus).

My main idea is to build a file filter driver in C to hook into file system reads and writes and prevent executables that I don't like from executing off the disk.

C++ :: Making Programs To Work With Custom Hardware / Drivers?

Dec 1, 2014

Recently I got a drawing tablet. One valued feature of this tablet is that it is pressure sensitive (2048 levels). No matter what the model, almost every company's tablet's features (like pressure) are compatible with well-known commercial products like Photoshop, and this is precisely what I'm wondering about:

If well-known graphic products can do it, how do I make my own program to recognize this device's features? How can I access/extract real-time data from a device. Assuming I have all driver stuff correctly installed.

I've been trying to google keywords like "[company] header files" or "[company] developing programs" or stuff like that to no avail... not really sure what to search for.

If you need specific information about the actual device, I will post it, but I'm also just looking for general knowledge about how to this type of thing, with any device.

(I'm not talking about a GUI or how to actually code graphics to respond to the pressure, just about receiving information from it.)

C :: How To Send Results Of Code To Output File And Then View It

Jan 18, 2015

In this one program (3 body problem), there are 6 inputs that are scanned (mass, velocity and position of the 2 bodies) and these inputs are computed to arrive at values for x, y and time for the third body. There is a working code that for of extremely small time steps, i.e over 5000 iterations, it produces values for x and y positions of the third body.

I believe this info is sent to an output file since there is a:

FILE* output=fopen("results.out", "w");

I want to play around with the code, insert different values for mass and velocity of the two bodies, but I don't know how to view the results? Im guessing I need to create a results.out file somewhere, but how do I go about doing this?

Do I need to assign memory to the results and then forward that to the output file somehow?

Here is the code : 3body.c

I have a compiler and what not, I'm just unsure how i can get these results out is all.

C++ :: Program To Merge Numbers In Two Files And Write Results To Third File

Apr 9, 2013

I need to write a program that merges the numbers in two files and writes the results to a third file. The program reads input from two different files and writes the output to a third file. Each input file contains a list of integers in ascending order. After the program is executed, the output file contains the numbers from the two input files in one longer list, also in ascending order. Your program should define a function with three arguments: one for each of the two input file streams and one for the output file stream. The input files should be named numbers1.txt and numbers2.txt, and the output file should be named output.txt.

Visual C++ :: Throttle Binary File Download Via WinHTTP Gives Unexpected Results

Nov 11, 2014

My Windows service may download a binary update in the background using WinHTTP APIs. I'm using code similar to the one from the bottom of this MSDN page. For ease of access I'll copy if below:

Code:
DWORD dwSize = 0;
DWORD dwDownloaded = 0;
LPSTR pszOutBuffer;
BOOL bResults = FALSE;
HINTERNET hSession = NULL,
hConnect = NULL,
hRequest = NULL;

[Code] ....

The issue I'm experiencing is that while downloading, the code above "hogs" most of the bandwidth available on the client computer. My goal is to make it "throttle" itself on a configurable "bps" level, say at 50 kbps and not use any more bandwidth.

Someone suggested measuring my current download speed (in bps) and depending on the value make the thread "sleep" before calling WinHttpReadData again.

So the formula I'd use to calculate BPS is this:

BPS = (BytesDownloaded * 1000 * 8) / TimePassedInMilliseconds;

Then to convert to Mbps:

Mbps = BPS / (1024 * 1024);

And the waiting/sleep would be done as such:

Code:
DWORD DesiredBitsPerSec = 50 * 1000;//for 50 kbps
if(fBps > DesiredBitsPerSec) {
DWORD dwW = (DWORD)((fBps - DesiredBitsPerSec) * 1000) / DesiredBitsPerSec;
if(dwW > 0)
::Sleep(dwW);//Sleep to throttle the download speed to the one we need
}

So I implemented it into the code above but it didn't work -- the Sleep API would produce very strange delays. So I decided to add a little bit more tracking code to actually be able to see what BPS values I'm getting.

I created a small test project that is attached to this post to illustrate the issue. (It's hard to explain without running an example.)

For a test I began downloading a large binary file (Windows 10 MSI, off Microsoft's server) and at the same time had the Task Manager open on a Performance tab that was showing me the current network throughput. I made a screenshot:

But as you can see, the reading on the test program and the actual network BPS values differ greatly.

C :: Read Contents Of A File Using Low I/O Read Statements

May 15, 2013

I want to read the contents of a file block (512 bytes) by block using low I/O read statements. Each record is 64 bytes long and has a pre-defined structure. The first 4 bytes are an unsigned integer; the next 20 bytes are ascii text, etc.

I have a buffer which I can access with buf[0] to buf[63] to read the first record and then buf[64] to buf[127] for the second, etc. However, I was wondering how to map a record so that I can refer to an integer as an integer and a float as float, etc. I can't create a struct and move the 64 bytes to it, as I will have alllignment/padding problems.

What is the standard way to deal with records in C?

C :: Create File To Write Text And Read Back The File Content

The Objective Of This Program Is To Create A File To Write Text And Read Back The File Content. To Do That I Have Made Two Function writeFile() To Write And readFile() To Read.The readFile() function works just fine but writeFile() doesn't.

How writeFile() function Works? when writeFile() function Execute It Takes Characters User Type And When Hit Enter(ASC|| 10) It Ask "More?(Y/N)" That Means What User Want? Want To Go Next Line Or End Input?

If "Y" Than Inputs Are Taken From Next Line Else Input Ends.

But The Problem Is When Program Encounters ch==10 It Shows "More?(Y/N)" And Takes Input In cmd variable.If cmd=='Y' I Mean More From Next Line Than It Should Execute Scanf Again To Take ch I Mean User Input.But Its Not!!! Its Always Showing "More?(Y/N)" Again And Again Like A Loop.

Code:
#include <stdio.h>
void writeFile(void);
void readFile(void);
int main(){

C :: Writing A Simple File / Text Parser To Read A Config File

Feb 6, 2014

I am writing a simple file/text parser to read a config file for some code I am working on. It's dead simple and not particularly smart but it should get the job done. The code reads a config file:

Code:

readlength=2500000
start=0
finish=25000000
cutoff=20000
samplingfreq=250000
poles=10
filterpadding=500
}

[code]....

Here is where it gets wierd. You'll notice that there is an unused variable (filepath) in the config struct. This variable is not referenced or used anywhere in the code, ever. Yet if I comment out the declaration of char filepath[1024], the code segfaults partway through the read_config() function.

My best guess is that there is a buffer overflow elsewhere and it just so happens that the memory allocated for filepath happened to be there to catch it up until now, but I can't work out where it might be happening. With the declaration commented out, the read_config() function gets as far as reading the "padding" variable before it crashes. Yet when the declaration is there, then all the variabled are read correctly and everything seems to work.

C++ :: Read From A Txt File And Then Write A New Text File With Sorted Line

Jun 11, 2014

I have a .txt file which I want to read from and then write a new text file, this time with sorted lines. It is easy to sort one value, but what about sorting entire lines based on one value?

I want to sort the lines based on the FIRST value.

Example text file contents:

values;data
5.01 100
2.9 342
2.69 43534
10.1 43
6.8 45324

Output: Text file containing

2.69 43534
2.9 342
5.01 100
6.8 45324
10.1 43

It's easy to do this if there was only 1 number on each line, but I do I sort all the lines based on the first number in each line?

loser
Winner char1 char2 char3
char1 3 2 5
char2 2 5 4
char3 8 1 2

the numbers are the amounts of wins a given character has over another character. I'm looking for code to open the .txt file and add 1 to the respective win total so I can do balance changes and such.
