C++ :: Read Input File (XML) And Generate Output File
Mar 25, 2013
I have code that reads an input file and generates an output file .For reading the input file we have a xml file.If there is an error while reading or writing the output file the an errored file is generated. But in the errrored file the fields are not coming as in accordance with the reader xml .they are coming randomly . In the module for reading and writing the errored file list is being used . What should be done to write in the errored file as the reader xml fields.

I have program that is supposed to read in a story from an input file and separate the words and output the lines on which the word occurs. It needs to read in another input file that has a list of words (1 per line) to ignore. i.e. skip them when running through the story. This is what I have so far, I've changed multiple things trying to get it running....
#include<iostream>
#include<fstream>
#include<map>
#include<set>
#include<vector>
#include<string>
#include"split.h"

I have written a C++ program I have multiple of CSV file used as input, which I open one at a time and close it after extracting data to a output file which is the only file.
I run getline(inFile,line);
outFile << line << endl;
I run this code, and only part of it is goes to the output file I got, also have spacing randomly to specific file and inconsistent
But when I slower the code, like system("Pause") in the loop, I can get extract what I want perfectly....
Is my program running to fast, why getline would be skipping part of what things I want?

One of my class assignments is to create a program that receive a .txt file containing a students name and their grades as follows:
John K. 99, 87, 57, 89, 90, 95
Amanda B. Jones 100, 88, 76, 99, 86, 92
etc..
The number of students is unknown until run time. You have to take those grades and average them weighing the first (4) at 10% a piece and the last (2) at 30% each.
Then return an output file with the students name and their letter grade A,B,C,D,F based on their computed score. In addition, on screen it needs to display the average scores for each Q1, Q2, etc. as well as the minimum and maximum for each test on the screen. I am having a hard time in assigning the scores to a variable so that they can then be computed as an average and then used to determine a letter grade. I have begun to write the code and am a bit stuck..here's what I have so far:
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <math.h>

I know this is how you read from a file. I also want to print my output to the same name of the file plus ".txt". So if my file is called "text" I want to print it to a file called "text.txt".
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <stdbool.h>
[Code]....
Would it be something like this? Is it better to use "a" or "w" in the fopen? I want to write to it several times.
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <stdbool.h>

I have a program where I will read in a certain .txt file, such as "financial_data.txt" and I will be doing some sorting with this data.
I want my program to write out the sorted data to an output file and I want the name of the output file to be based off of the input name. For example, since my input file is "financial_data.txt", I want the output file name to be "financial_data_out.txt".
I am having a hard time finding examples online and in my reference manuals...

I have written this code to remove the comments from an input file and then put it into an output file. The program compiles and runs but it removes the whole line of code when it encounters a /* */ type comment. I believe the problem is in the while loop but I just don't know where.

I need to create a list of all members of a struct using the sturct definition as input. The struct is NOT part of the program, but is the input to the program.
The struct that I am using changes over time as features are added. I need the complete, fully qualified field names to then generate a table with all names with their offsets, type and length.
This information then allows me to create readers of the data that will run on different architectures, compilers and operating systems.
The struct currently has 800+ lines and uses typedef and embedded structs.
Perhaps this could be done creating LEX, YACC, Perl, SED, AWK or other language system.

Here is the assignment... Write a program to generate a report based on input received from a text file. Suppose the input text file student_status.txt contains the student’s name (lastName, firstName middleName), id, number of credits earned as follows :
Doe, John K.
3460 25
Andrews, Susan S.
3987 72
Monroe, Marylin
2298 87
Gaston, Arthur C.
2894 110
Generate the output in the following format :
John K. Doe 3460 25 Freshman
Susan S. Andrews 3987 40 Sophomore
Marylin Monroe 2298 87 Junior
Arthur C. Gaston 2894 110 Senior
The program must be written to use the enum class_level :
enum class_level {FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR, SENIOR } ;
and define two namespace globalTypes (tys and fys) for the function :
class_level deriveClassLevel(int num_of_credits) ;
The function deriveClassLevel should derive the class_level of the student based on the number of credits earned.
The first namespace globalType tys should derive the class level based on a two year school policy. And the second namespace globalType fys should derive the class level based on a four year school policy.
Four Year School Policy:
Freshman 0-29 creditsSophomore 30-59 credits
Junior 60-89 creditsSenior 90 or more credits
Two Year School Policy:
Freshman 0-29 creditsSophomore 30 or more credits
and this is the code I have so far...
#include <cstdlib>
#include <iostream>
#include <cctype>
#include <fstream>
using namespace std;
enum class_level {FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORE,JUNIOR,SENIOR};
class_level classLevel;
[Code] .....
My main question is did I use the namespaces and enum correctly? And my second question is whats the best way to input the data from the text file? This is really where I get stuck.

Marylin Monroe 2298 87 Junior
Arthur C. Gaston 2894 110 Senior
The program must be written to use the enum class_level :
enum class_level {FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR, SENIOR } ;
and define two namespace globalTypes (tys and fys) for the function :

The first namespace globalType tys should derive the class level based on a two year school policy.
The second namespace globalType fys should derive the class level based on a four year school policy.
So I basically did it in parts and got everything working and then had to make the namespace so I had this:
#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
using namespace std;
enum class_level { FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR, SENIOR };
[Code] ......
I know I have to clean it up and change it but it ran like it was suppose to. Then I tried adding the global namespaces and I this:
#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
using namespace std;
enum class_level { FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR, SENIOR };
class_level classLevel;
[Code] ....
with this i keep getting an error saying tys::deriveClassLevel: must return a value and tys::fys::deriveClassLevel: must return a value. I have been messing around with this part and struggling I thought I used the namespace to run the if statements with the criteria for the years of school. Basically I have been stuck for awhile and trying to change things around but I cant seem to get it to work.

Two Year School Policy:

NOTE : use ignore() function with ifstream objects whenever you want to ignore the newline character.
For example :
ifstream transferSchoolFile ;
transferSchoolFile.open("student_status.txt", ios::in);
while( !transferSchoolFile.eof()) {
getline(transferSchoolFile,name) ;
transferSchoolFile >> id >> credits;
transferSchoolFile.ignore(); //Used here to ignore the newline character.
….
}
I did this in parts so I got it working with a four year criteria without the user defined name spaces.
include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
using namespace std;
enum class_level { FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR, SENIOR };
[Code] ....
So that worked fine then I tried with name spaces -
#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
using namespace std;
enum class_level { FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR, SENIOR };
class_level classLevel;
[Code] ....
I know I have some stuff to mess around with but I am currently stuck with two errors, first -

I'm supposed to read a text file and display it in the output. I have it down except my formatting. I just cannot get it to just skip one line rather than multiple. I know why though because my char has a max of 11 and if I put a character lets say mango, it is going to fill in the rest with white spaces. It's supposed to display like this:
Mango
Strawberry
Grapes
But instead I get something like this
Mango
Melon
Grapes
I am using isspace but it's not working.
//source code
#include <iostream>
#include <iomanip>

How to structure the input of one .dat file and outputting into another one. I have to loop through a file structured "doe, john, 1500", check for errors and then increase the mp by 50. You also have to do this through using a person class too. I think I need to use a while loop to go to eof and use getline to input correctly, but im not sure how to structure it.

So I am trying to create a program that reads a series of files and creates a graph plotting points from the file. So far my code looks a little something like this -
include <iostream>
include "ccc_x11.h"
include "ccc_shap.h"
include "ccc_win.h"
include <fstream>
using namespace std ;
int ccc_win_main() {
cwin.coord(-10, -10, 10, 10);
[Code] ....
However when I run the program nothing happens. I think it has to do with the way I set up my files, which looks a little something like this-
-9 -9 -9 -9 -9 -9 -7 -7 -6 -6 -5 -5 -4 6 3 1 -1 -3 -6 5 -5 4 -4 2 -2 0
The first thirteen numbers are the x values of the points, and the last thirteen are the y values of the points. Is there any other way to have my program read the file and display the given points?? I would use getline() however that would make my point into a string, and I dont really know how to convert a string to a double before putting the variable into a point.

How would i get the 987 for the highest and the 19 as the lowest? Those numbers are not fixed numbers, i need to be able to input any combination of numbers and still be able to get the highest and lowest numbers from the list of 7 numbers.
