View 4 RepliesI have screen scrolling working but i want to have text scroll with the screen. because at the moment my player moves and the screen scrolls but the text doesn't.
View 15 Replies View RelatedYou are programming a sideways scrolling shooter. This used 2D cell based maps that are very long (over 100,000 characters per row long, 24 rows of 40 characters on screen), and the only way you can get them to fit in memory is to compress each row of the map using run length encoding and to decompress each new column of the map on the right of the screen as the background moves from right to left. You maintain a list of pointers into the RLE data for each row of the screen. Columns that are scrolled off the left are discarded. This works very well and the game only just fits in the available memory. Suddenly the game designer decides that the game should also be able to scroll from left to right at any point, and for any duration. Stunned and dismayed, you explain to him that RLE compression only works in one direction, but he’s adamant. Figure out a way of doing what he wants without using much (no more that 1K of) extra memory. Explain the algorithm used for decompressing in both directions. (assume the RLE algorithm used is: a positive byte N followed by a byte B, indicates a run of N copies of B, a negative byte -N followed by N bytes indicates that those bytes should be copied directly. For example, the sequence 2,2,2,2,5,1,2,9,9,9,9,9 would be coded 4,2, -3,5,1,2, 5,9.)
how can I compress the information? My first thought was making a change to the RLE compression but i gave up on that thinking it wasn't possible.
The situation is , I have a ball which should move on a flat horizontal surface which i have created in a display of 800 x 400 . Right now!I am able to make it move left or right in direction using key inputs at a fixed speed.
But I want to make it move horizontally at a constant velocity without using keys. Like in copter game.
It should be able to move automatically , towards the right side.
Increment x position by speed variable does the trick but When I used it with keys I used to limit the movement like.
ball.x += ball.speed;
if(ball.x > 750)
ball.x = 750; // because my screen width is 800.
[URL] .... < this video will show what I really want to do with the ball
If you saw the game video in the link i gave, the ball kept moving with constant velocity. But it never went out of bound. What is keeping it from not getting out of display screen. Instead! its moving continuously... but stays almost at the center of screen. How?
I'm doing error checks in C and I'd like to know how to restrict the input of a string to 2 letters and if it is exceeded, i'd like to loop and ask for the code to be re-entered.
Code:
for (i = 0; i < code7; i++)
{
printf("Enter number of items: ");
scanf("%d", &item_qty[i]);
[Code].....
I want to give a try to "restrict" type-qualifier. I have looked for examples on google and I see the format is used: "int * restrict p";
However when I write this I get an error: "p is undeclared"
I am using GNU GCC Compiler with Code::Blocks.
How can I solve this problem. Is it possible me to adapt the compiler to C99 standarts, if I can, will it solve my problem?
I would like the coded ASCII image to scroll horizontally 3 times and then end with the message:
"Hit Enter to continue or Esc to end"
If Enter is pressed, the program should then continue to scroll another 3 times and then display the same message above.
If Esc is hit then the program loop should stop similar to an escape sequence.
Here is my code that partially accomplishes my objective:
Code:
// Professor.cpp : The entry point for the console application.
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
#include <windows.h>
#include <stdlib.h>

My requirement is,
Read *.bmp image and displaying bitmap image with scrollbar in a MFC dialog application.
I was done using this
I was read the *.bmp image as a pixel data and stored by 2D Array,
Now i want to Display this 2D array as bitmap image with scrollbar separately in the same dialog. How can i display bitmap with scrollbar using 2D array?
I am trying to write up something to have a user to enter a four digit number. Only four digits, Ex: 0001, 0116, or 9999. There is no getting around the selection 0001 or 0002. I understand if not done correctly, the first three 0's will be ignored.
I've been just playing around with what I have below but I just don't remember how to do it nor can I find a good example online to figure it out. I know it is not correct just typing to try to remember. I am aware that it is gibberish right now, this is just me brainstorming.
int number;
cout<<("Please enter the four digit number(Ex: 0001):
");
cin>> setw(2) >> number;
cout<<)"Please enter four digit date. Two digits for month and two digits for year:
");
cin>> date;
if (number< || number > 30)
cout << "Invalid choice. Try again." << endl;
cin.clear();
I was creating a template and I realized that certain data-types/structs/classes would not be applicable to my template.This would cause bugs and errors if used incorrectly. Is there a way to restrict a template-capture to certain types/classes?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have one requirement. I have a project lets Say baseProject.vcxproj. It has some header files. Another project lets say dependentProject.vcxproj loads baseProjects's dll and uses some of its header files.
When some other project lets say unrelatedProejct includes the header file from e dependentproject which includes baseproject's header file. It makes to change the include driectory setting of unrelatedproject. How to avoid this.?
baseproject

I have to write a program for class in which users will be inputting:
start time = startTime
number of minutes = callDuration
so first off, teacher wants us to input time as a floating point number such as 09.00
How do I validate the time so that users cant input i.e. 09.61 for every hour? In other words, so the user cant input minutes 60-99 for every hour.
then, when calculating:
endTime = startTime + callDuration
how would I make endTime display a correct time in such a situation: endTime = 09.45 + 00.30
so that it displays 10.15 not 09.75
I have turbo c++ on windows xp SP2.....whenever i compile my code in turbo c++ i am getting output outside the screen.....but when i used code::block....i get the correct output...fits to screen ...
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo i am struggling for days to get this done and all i need is to get the sum of the areas and get them printed on the screen my code is this:
Code:
#include<stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include<conio.h> //Not needed in Dev C++//
#define PI 3.1415
float Area_of_Rectangular(float length,float width);
float Area_of_Circle(float radius);
int main()
[Code]...
why I can't output ounces on the screen in c#...here's the code:
Code:
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Linq;
using System.Text;
namespace Chapter7Problem12
{
class Program
}
[code]....
My problem is :
Code: numbers[10]={25,27,17,19,47,3,98,5,124,10};
You write a program at do below processes for above array.
You want a number 1 between 10 at user.
if user enter N value,program write to screen lowest N. number at array. For example user enter 2,program write to screen lowest secondary number of 5 value at array or user enter 10 value,program write to screen maximum number of 124 value at array.
But write the program with don't use sorting algorithm.
I have a one simple question :D. I want to output to the console some symbols. Let's say that i have a loop.
for(int i = 0; i < 10; i++) cou << "* ";
Then I want to output other symbols but I want to overwrite the previous symbols. I know I can use system("cls"); but it blinks if I try to output the same characters. For example if I have:
for(int i = 0; i < 10; i++) cou << "* ";
system("cls");
for(int i = 0; i < 10; i++) cou << "* ";
After I run this code the first loop outputs ten "*". Then there is a blink and there are again ten "*" shown. How can I avoid this blink?
#include <cstdlib>
#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
#include <vector>
using namespace std;
int main()
[code]....
I do not know how to output on the screen, I believe that i have written it to the file correctly but i dont know how to output it.
For my class we have to take a screenshot of the program and put it in a word document. How can I accomplish this?
View 2 Replies View Relatedso im trying to make a background for a menu, but it is only so big. its not the kind of picture where i can just reapply it. is there a function to make it fill to the screen?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got most of the program to work but its printing to the screen 5 times and I only want it to print once.
Eg:
cos1512: 57.00%
mat1512: 86.50%
inf1520: 65.10%
cos1521: 78.40%
inf1505: 89.10%
but I get:
Semester Marks:

cos1512: 57.00%
mat1512: 57.00%
inf1520: 57.00%
cos1521: 57.00%

My code:
#include <iostream>

I want to have my program only clear a section of the lines displayed on screen. For example if:
Welcome. Enter : (cin)
Choose a mode: (cin)
(etc...)
Clear above lines (for example) 1 and 2?: (cin)
//now I want the program to do that. How?
Overall, I want to be able to system ("cls") only certain lines.
Is there any way I can clear only a selected part of the screen? (I'm aware of system("cls"))
For example, when you enter a date, and is wrong, could it just errase that input and only say "Wrong try again" without errasing everything else you where doing?
In this case, a function that only errases what is in the while
while(not wrong)
{
cout<<"DIA: ";
cin>>obj.dia;
cout<<"MES: ";
cin>>obj.mes;
cout<<"ANIO: ";
cin>>obj.anio;
}
PS: Also, is there any whay in which you can ask the user to enter the date DD/MM/YYY?
I want to write a program that makes this output to appear on screen using for-loop :
0 0

4

1 0

4
5
2 0

3 0

I can't seem to make the correct logic/engine of this nested loop.
I had a program (on console) that uses a third-part software to draw some graphs. In order to hold the graphs on the screen, I used cin.get(); and that worked.
Now I created a GUI with Qt. The code remains generally the same. The code continues to call the software to draw graphs (during drawing graphs, there is a console opened automatically). Butcin.get(); in the code cannot hold the graphs on screen anymore. The graphs appear and disappear immediately.
Screen Splitter will allow main screen to be split into two or more sections. It will be useful for the active program's window to be resized properly to one part of the screen. Using this utility, User will be able to do a split system desktop into two or more areas....
