C :: Program To Append Text To TXT File

Mar 16, 2013

I am trying to understand how to append some code to a text file. I have run a simple program like the one below. Basically it opens a text file and then it appends the string aaaaaaaaaa

Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <io.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
char s[10] = {"
aaaaaaaaaa"};

[Code] .....

Now that I know how to append the above string, I now would like to extend the experiment to append the following snipped of code in my test.txt file:

Code:
<Placemark>
<name>12:01</name>
<Snippet maxLines="0"></Snippet>
<description>&nbsp;</description>

[Code] ....

How do I go about doing this? The problem I am experiencing is that all the / and " characters in the above snippet of code seems to get the C compiler confused. One thought I had was to create a string like the one below but as I mentioned, the number 0 in the code is surrpunded by " " and this confuses the compiler:

Code:
char s[250] = {"<Placemark>
<name>12:01</name>
<Snippet maxLines="0"></Snippet>

[Code] ....

C :: Append Data To Array Of Structures In Memory Then Put In File When Program Ends

Dec 4, 2013

I have a program that stores health information the user inputs, one person at a time. The program works perfectly with the exception of storing the data...I need to open a file and read what health data it has in it already, if any, but store the new changes, and appended data to the array of structures, to the data in memory. All of the information is only saved back in the file once the program terminates. I'm not sure how to go about doing this, so I am also not sure what to put in the function for "Save and Exit" that the user can choose in order to exit the program.

Code:

#include "stdio.h"
#include "stdlib.h"
#include "string.h"
struct strdatabase
{
char first[20];
char last[20];
char gender[2];

[Code]...

I tried playing around with this bit of code, but I'm not sure if I'm even on the right track.

Code:

FILE *fp;
fp = fopen ("students.txt","rb"); fseek(fp, 0, SEEK_END);
long pos = ftell(fp);
fseek(fp, 0, SEEK_SET);
char *bytes = malloc(pos);
fread(bytes, pos, 1, fp);
fclose(fp);

Visual C++ :: Unable To Append Data To CFile Using FILE

I'm trying to append data to a CFile using FILE* But when execute the application, it always give error saying "No such file or directory". I can actually see the file created but it just keep giving error "No such file or directory".

Is the file being lock or the file just created so it can not be find by fstream(FILE*)? or the file mode is wrong?

Below is the code:

[QUOTE]
void SaveDocument(CString strFile) {
CFile file;
if( !file.Open(strFile, CFile::modeCreate | CFile::modeWrite | CFile::shareDenyNone)) {
CArchive ar(&file, CArchive::store);
// save now.
MyClass.Serialise(ar);

[Code]...

Attached is the printscreen of the FILE* pointer. the pointer is evaluated as bad pointer. Why the FILE* pointer not able point to the file being created?

C :: Program With Integers And A Text File

Oct 6, 2014

I created a program in C that opens a text file and read integers.

File `numbers.txt`:
> 5 6 4 6 3 4 1

I use some restrictions with the `fscanf()` library and read the file, just for the record, and if everything goes fine I proceed to the next part of code (I know I could use `fget()`, but this is how I done it).The next part of the code will be this:

- First, I want the program to read the numbers from right to left. I look for an answer in google and many C courses, but I couldn't find a working solution. I think that the code is pretty simple, though I can't find it. **To be clear for the next part, we read the numbers from right to left.**

- Then, this is the hard part for me: I want the program to read the numbers and if the next number is higher (**not equal**) than the last one to keep it in memory, **only if it's higher than the last.** This can be continue for **1 through 500.000 numbers.**

- Then when the procedure done, I want to print how many numbers are greater than the last one and save it to a file, which I can do it if I solve the last problem.

We have the below numbers:
5 6 4 6 3 4 1

The program starts to read the numbers from right to left.Now which and how many numbers are greater than the last one?

The answer is 3 numbers:
5 6 4 [6] 3 [4] [1]

Then the program will print the number 3 with a message and save it to a file called `xxx.txt`. I am posting the `main` code, not all the code just what you need to solve the problem:

Code:

#include <errno.h> // macros for reporting and retrieving error conditions
#include <stdio.h> // load main C library function
#include <stdlib.h> // need that for many reasons ;)
#include <string.h> // loads various of characters functions
}

[code]....

In conclusion, I want 2 pieces of code:

- One to read the numbers from right to left
- One to make the above procedure

C :: Program Count Number Of Lines Of Read Text File

Jan 25, 2013

I have a .txt file that contains, together with a few characters, columns of values that I want to save in different files like is written in the program (file 1, file2, file3 - a with x, b with y, c with z). The pattern of the source text file is like this:

known_vector frame1 151 65 0 frame2 151.000763 64.538582 0.563737
known_vector frame1 152 65 0 frame2 152.000702 64.542488 0.560822
known_vector frame1 153 65 0 frame2 153.000671 64.546150 0.558089

Until now I could manage to split the files, but the output gives me only zeros. First the program count the number of lines of the read text file, then it should display the desired columns of double values in three other .txt files.I've got for the three .txt files columns like this:

0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000
0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000
0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000

C/C++ :: Dating Service Program Using Text File And Linked Lists

Jun 16, 2013

I'm new to programming, and I'm working on my second c++ program right now. Its a dating service where you read data from an input .txt file and store into a linked list, so then you can search, and modify the data. The text file is in this format:

M Dr.Gregory House,237-8732 7 Vicodin,Guitar,Piano,Motorcycles,Television,Food,W hiteboards.endl; (all on a single line).

First, is the sex (M or F), then the person's name, phone number, number of interests, then a list of their interests (with commas between each one, and a period at the end.) and then if they have a match you put their name there and put endl; after.

The main problem I'm having is setting up the link list, how to get it to read those as variables in the text, I know you have to use delimiters, but I can't quite figure out how to use them. You also have to keep two lists, one for males, and one for females in the output file. How do I do this? Is that a double linked list?

Here is the code so far (I know it isn't much..)

#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
#include <limits>
#include <cstring>
using namespace std;

C :: Program That Grades A True / False Quiz - Data Available In Text File

Oct 14, 2014

You are to write a C program that grades a true-false quiz. The quiz data will be available in a text file; here is an example:

Quiz #8 (09/22/14) (corrected version)
TTFTTFTFTF
0080 TTFTTFTFTF
0340 TTFTFFTFTF

The first line in the data file is a comment that you may assume can be up to 80 charac- ters long; it cannot be blank. The second line contains the answer key for the 10-question true-false quiz. The following lines in the data file contain a student's id number in column 1 followed by their answers for the quiz in column 2. A 0 (zero) on a line by itself indicates that there are no more students to process.

Write a program that first reads in (from standard input; more on this in a moment) the comment line and answer key as strings followed by each student's data. Store the student's id numbers in an array. You are to "grade" each student's quiz using the key provided fol- lowed by recording their scores (in a second array) in order to be able to print them out later. You do not need to use an array of strings or characters in your program. Write your program allowing for up to 100 students, and you may assume that at least 1 student will have taken the quiz.

You should create test data text files and provide the data to your program using redirection from the command line (see the sample run below). Your program should output the number of students who took the quiz, the average score, the best score, and a table showing each student's id, score, and grade. The formatting, spacing, and labels in your output should 1 match the sample run below exactly.

Your program should determine each student's grade as follows: if the score is equal to the best score b or b−1, give an A. If it is b−2, award a B. Give C's for any score that is equal to b−3 or b−4, a D for b−5 and an F for all others.

Alright So I'm just stuck at comparing the key answer with student answer here is my code comparing one student's answer with the answer key . is that right ?? One more thing for some reason when i try to print answer[0] the result is nothing why is that

Code:
#include<stdio.h>
int main(void) {
char comment[80];
char answer [10];
char studentans [10];
int n=0,i=0,x=0;
int ID[10];
