C++ :: How To Make A Program That Opens Unknown Files Extensions

Apr 6, 2013

Okay, so I think I have just passed the intermediate line in my skill of c++ and my question is how do I make a program that opens unknown files extensions. for example like .plr. Because I see a bunch of files for game modifications like that, that was a good reason I started c++ too.

C :: How To Test Program That Opens Files In Command Line

Mar 10, 2014

The below program is supposed to display the contents of all files listed in the command line. When I try to run the program I get the fatal error "Debug Assertion Failed" Expression: file != NULL. I've done some researching on the matter and I gather it might be because I don't have any files listed in the command line?

How to enter files in the command line! I opened the Command Window in Windows XP and tried typing in "C> argc" and "% argc" (argc being the name of the file containing the below program) without any luck.

Code:

#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
int main (int argc, char * argv[]) {
int ch; // int to hold EOF
int count;
FILE *fp;
for(count = 1; count <= argc; count++) // agrc loop

This is the fourth line in input1.txt.

Visual C++ :: Windows Explorer - Open Files With Different Extensions For Viewing Purposes Only

Feb 16, 2013

I have an application that Opens files with different extensions for viewing purposes only. I use MFC with Multi-Document template.

When I go to Windows Explorer in Windows 7 and right-click on Libraries - Documents, and scroll down to New, Explorer shows multiple links for creating new files with these different extensions.

My application does not create New documents. It just opens them for viewing purposes. In fact, I have disabled the New portion of the mainframe window.

My code includes:
EnableShellOpen();
RegisterShellFileTypes(TRUE);

I am at a loss as to what portion of my code would have placed these links into Windows Explorer!

Is there any way to prevent them from being created in the first place?

C :: Reading Files Of Unknown Size

Jan 23, 2013

I want my program to be able to read text files in the format:

number number
number number
number number...

and so on, so there are two columns of values. The problem I'm having is, there are a lot of numbers in the file, and it can vary. The program needs to read the numbers, put one column into one array, and the other in another, perform some operations on it all, and eventually pop out two different arrays. In other words, after I've got these arrays, I don't need them for much longer. I was hoping I could dynamically allocated some arrays to store the numbers and just free them as soon as I'm done with them.

If the file wasn't of such variable size or if it was guaranteed to be under a certain number of variables, I would have used:

Code:

while ( fscanf(input, "%lf %lf
", &col_1[], &col_2[]) == 2 )
{
no_rows++;
}

The problem is I want to allocate "no_rows" as the array size, which I don't have until after I have read the file.

C :: How To Make Custom Program For Packaging Multiple Files In One

Nov 5, 2014

I want to make a custom program for packaging multiple files in one. Not as complicated as ZLIB or others. Consider few files, XML, txt, JPG, OGG, I want them to be added in 1 file. Not visible not readable. Just a datafile. I have some ideas about creating some kind of indexing of the start byte, end byte of each file. But I am still way too far. Can you point me some direction at what should I stress in creating this software. It will be portable since I am planning to use stdlib, stdio only, maybe and string to recreate the filenames from the large chunk datafile.

C++ :: Passing Unknown Arguments To Unknown Function

May 1, 2013

So I'm making setTimeout and setInterval functions.

I have this remember function (that is part of Timing class) which takes a function pointer and a void pointer, which are remembered in that object.

Another (timing) function of that object is called in every loop of the program and when specific time passes that function calls the remembered function whit the remembered void pointer as argument.

The problem is that the functions that need to be called require unknown multiple parameters, so what I need to do is make a new class that will store the needed arguments. I make the function that needs to be called and that storage object and pass pointers to them to my remember function, when the remembered function is called it stores the data from storage object in new variables and dose it's thing.

C++ :: Installing SDL Extensions To CodeBlocks

Aug 30, 2013

how to use SDL just today, installed the standard SDL library on the compiler. But when i got to the point where I needed to install the SDL image extension library I thought I had everything correct but when I tried running a program using it I got errors. The non-extension SDL apps work just fine but when I try using SDL_image functions in my code I get problems, although when I begin typing the function the name shows up and i do not get issues with the .h, I feel its a link issue because I get errors such as:

ld.exe||cannot find -lSDL_image|
ld.exe||cannot find -lSDL_image|
||=== Build finished: 2 errors, 0 warnings (0 minutes, 0 seconds) ===|

I'm confident I have my /includes installed correctly. Also I was unable to find the 1.2 version for the Img extension so i reluctantly went ahead with 2.0 if that is perhaps causing issues.

C :: How To Emulate Object Orientation With Multiple Files And Make File

Feb 13, 2013

how to structure my classes so that they all "wire together" and inherit the proper functions and data that I want them to. I want to have a Car.c and car.h which are "wired" with body.c/body.h, which in turn is wired with a frame.c/frame.h, wheel.c/wheel.h, and driver.c/driver.h.

Each part of the car holds some type of data, mostly ints: The car has a (total) mass and car_name. The body has a mass and color. The frame has a mass. The wheel(s) have a mass and force. [There will be 4 instances of wheel] The driver has a mass and driver_name. Each of these functionalities must come from their respective .c and .h files, and be amalgamated in the car.c and car.h (which should contain all the functionality of its parts). Then, in my main test program, I am to make an instance of car and hardcode in its values of: mass (which comes from the total mass of all of its parts, this is where i start to lose it.

How will I access its parts' masses in the test program?), color (a character array), current position (an integer), current velocity (an integer), and current acceleration (which comes from the total newton force of the 4 wheels, again this is where I start to get very confused). (Then in the test program I am to print out a simulation of this car over a period of 100 seconds, and show its position, velocity, and acceleration at each point (based on the mass, total newton force, and starting position). This part is of course a simple while loop, and is somewhat trivial.)

From what I understand, I will need to allocate memory for all of the data each class holds. Then, using function pointers, as well as #include "X.h" , I will need to somehow link up all of the classes together so that car has access to all of the parts' functions which set, for example, the newton force of each wheel.

We have learned a slight bit about structs, malloc, sizeof, and pointers, but I have not used them to link functionality or data from separate classes together.

Visual C++ :: Calling ATL COM DLL Method (that Opens A Dialog) From Browser?

Oct 11, 2013

I have a COM Object created using ATL (without MFC Support)

The Object has 1 method that opens a Dialog (that does all the rest) and when finish - returns 2 values back (1 is enough)

Currently I call it from another EXE:

hr = CoCreateInstance(
CLSID_MyControl,
NULL,
CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER,
IID_IMyControl,
(void**) &pMyControl
);

and then:

hr = pMyControl->MyMethod (ATL::CComBSTR(InputString1), ATL::CComBSTR(InputString2), &IntReturned, &IntReturned);

Is it possible to call it as is from a browser ?

How can I Instantiate the object and invoke my method (with params) from the browser ?

will it open the dialog ?
