C++ :: Create A Program Using Nested Looping?

Nov 5, 2013

You are to create a program using nested looping. Your program is to have a menu asking the user to select which pattern to create and how many rows to use (it should accept 1 to 10 rows and keep the aspect ratio of the pattern). The patterns are 1 - Box, 2 - V, 3 - Inverted V. Note, if I select pattern 1 with 10 rows, the box will have 10 asterisks in the first row.

Okay so i came up with the box but i have been getting stuck at getting the V or inverted V.

C++ :: Nested Looping To Create A Pattern

Jul 15, 2012

I am working on some coursework for university at the moment, and one of the questions asks me to 'write a function that will generate the following pattern using nested looping techniques.'

Pattern:

- . . . . . . .
. - . . . . . .
. . - . . . . .
. . . - . . . .
. . . . - . . .
. . . . . - . .
. . . . . . - .
. . . . . . . -

So far I have the following code, but when I compile it I get a host of different errors.

#include <iostream>
int main() {
int A[8][8],i,j;
for(i=0;i<8;i++) {
for(j=0;j<8;j++) {

[Code] ....

How to add code tags on this?

C++ :: Looping Activity - Program That Accepts Positive Integer

Aug 10, 2014

You pros are once newbies like us. Hoped you might take a little time sharing your expertise. Got freaked out when our teacher gave us this activity, where she haven't taught this to us yet. So this is the activity (LOOPING) :

Write a program that accepts a positive integer. The program should be the same from the given output. Use do while to allow the user to continue or not.

OUTPUT must be:

n = 5
0
1==0
2==1==0
3==2==1==0
4==3==2==1==0
5==4==3==2==1==0

if n = 6

1==0
2==1==0
3==2==1==0
4==3==2==1==0
5==4==3==2==1==0

C :: Program For Infinitely Looping After And Testing For Active Process

Mar 23, 2013

What I have: A basic program for infinitely looping after and testing for an active process. It has a delay system built in to make it so it is not constantly iterating.

What I need: A way to get process IDs from other Processes other than my program. With a way to use that ID to detect if that process is active on the computer or not.

Parts of my code that need changing:

/* Code for handling the process would go here */

/* Code for detecting the target would go here */

What the goal of my program is: Perform operations to terminate the process of cmd.exe when it is active on the user's computer. Then output the status of the process and the time it took to find that process to the user.

It contained functions that I needed, but I need more information on how to apply them to other processes instead of the parent of my program and its' children.

Here is the code I prewrote for this so far:

Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <time.h>
#define ZERO 0
#define INFINITE 1000000000000000

C++ :: Decipher Program - Nested Loop

Feb 17, 2013

I'm writing a series of basic decipher programs and I have run into an issue where I get the correct answer when I start the loops at the iteration that contains the correct answer.

Code:
// generate key "words" with length of 3
for (int x = 0; x < 26; x++){
for (int y = 0; y < 26; y++){
for (int z = 0; z < 26; z++){

[Code] ....

This is the essence of the loop, I've attached the program in its entirety if necessary. Basically what happens is if I start the loops at x = 17, y = 7, z = 12, then I get the correct decipher shifts but if I start at 0,0,0 whenever it gets to that iteration (12,000 ish) the shifts are off by 2 or 3. "koq" should translate to "the" but im getting "dcz". Is this a simple bug in the or is something moving to fast for something else to keep up?

C :: Program That Prints Multiplication Table Using Nested Loops

Mar 9, 2013

Write a program that prints a multiplication table using nested loops. In main ask the user for the smallest column number , the largest column number and the size of the increment. Ask the user for the same information for the row values.

In the example the column values entered are: 5, 15 and 2 and the row values 3, 6 and 1.

Given those numbers you would generate the following table.

Multiplication Table
| 5 7 9 11 13 15 ___|___________________________________ | 3 |
15 21 27 33 39 45 4 | 20 28 36 44 52 60 5 | 25 35 45 55 65 75 6 | 30 42 54 66 78 90
Print the 24 values with the grey background. The other numbers show the values to be multiplied.

Code:
#include<stdio.h>
main() {
int a,b,c,d,e,f;
int i,j,total;
printf("Please enter smallest column number: ");
scanf("%i",&a);
printf("

[Code] ....

Challenge:
As an added challenge try to print out the column
headings (5 7 9 11 13 15) and the row headings (3 4 5 6)

C++ :: Place Nested Loop Where Nested Not Necessary?

Apr 3, 2014

I wrote this code, and everything was working well, but part of the assignment is that it must include nested loops. Once I added the nested while loop, which is basically an if statement, my life was ruined. I am trying to nest a loop in the code that will basically tell the compiler that if the value "loopVol" were to exceed the value of "final" after adding an increment, to run the program for the "final". How can I do that?

Example:

initial = 10
final = 123
increment = 10

as of now, the program would stop at 120, but I want to nest a loop that will tell the compiler to calculate at the final if this happens.

#include <iostream>
#include <iomanip>
#include <stdio.h>

C++ :: Tell A Program To Continue Executing Next Line Of Code Within Nested IF Statement?

Nov 25, 2013

Is there a way to tell the program to continue reading the next line of code within a nested IF statement?

The reason I want to do this is because the two "else" statements in the following sample (the main and the nested else) will contain the same exact code and I don't want to repeat it twice. I know I can do this by creating a function and calling it from each else statement but I was just wondering if what I'm asking is even possible without using a function.

if(1 < 2) {
// yes 1 is less than 2
if(5 > 10) {
// do something
} else {
// no, 5 in not greater than 10
// here is where I want to tell the program to continue reading the next else statement

C# :: Looping Through A Range Of IP Addresses

Feb 6, 2014

I want to take a starting IP on a local network, and loop through to an ending IP on a local network, pinging all the IP addresses in between. For instance, ping all IP addresses between 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.255 (user enters desired starting IP and ending IP in text boxes).

I have the ping functionality working, and i can make it all work with lots of messy string parsing.. but it seems sloppy to me.

I have to split the strings (start and end IP) to get the last octet, then subtract to get the range of IPs. Then loop through, adding 1 to the last octet, and converting back to a string each time.

The C# Ping class can use either a string or an IPaddress for its Send method. If I use IPAddress, I just have to convert it from the text box it originates in, but the adding 1 to the last octet in the loop is a hassle.

Anyway, I guess the only question I have is, if you had to loop through a range of IP addresses, how would YOU do it?

public Job(string ipStartIn, string ipEndIn) {
long ip1 = Convert.ToInt64(ipStartIn);
long ip2 = Convert.ToInt64(ipEndIn);
IPStart = new IPAddress(ip1);
IPEnd = new IPAddress (ip2);
this.deviceAlive = false;

C/C++ :: Looping Recursive Functions?

Feb 10, 2014

how to recursively modify my program. The problem I'm hacing is the the program is not looping correctly and also not printing the correct number. I've calculated the payoff correctly, also I've only been able to print the first section of R3. I can't figure out how to loop it to get R2 to stay at 2 then go to 3 after all possiblities of R2 at 2. Enventually, R1 will change to 2 then 3; 3 being the highest number earned. To be mentioned that will be three recursive function loopR1, loopR2, and loopR3 for each column.

The result of the program should look like:

R1 R2 R3
1 1 1 payoff is 1
1 1 2 .......... 1
1 1 3 .......... 1
1 2 1 .......... 1
1 2 2 .......... 1
...
...
...
3 3 2 .............. 5
this is what I have so far:

#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
int payOff(int r1, int r2, int r3);
void loopR3(int R3, int upto);
void loopR2(int R2, int upto);

C/C++ :: Won't Stop Looping If Statement

Jan 22, 2015

My program is designed to take a reading from a glucometer and light an LED if the reading is too high or too low. I used this code:

#include <eHealth.h>
void setup(){
pinMode(13, OUTPUT); //first alert
pinMode(12, OUTPUT); //green LED

[Code]....

The glucometer stores the tests and the code just pulls the most recent one, however even if I unplug the glucometer the first if statement keeps repeating and the LED in pin 12 keeps shining. Is it the if statement itself malfunctioning, or is the Arduino storing the data it pulled and just repeatedly plugging that into the if loop?

C :: How To Create A Program That Take AVI File

Jan 26, 2015

I want to create a program that would take an AVI file, alter each frame (ex: change contrast, invert colors, etc.) and dump a new AVI. I've wrote a simple program for this experiment that loads up the header information from the video and dumps it. It also dumps a list of the frame data chunks within the 'movi' chunk.

The info I've gathered from coding this:

1. The recommended buffer size for each type of stream (vids, auds, etc.) is the size of the largest frame of corresponding type, plus 1 or two extra bytes.

2. numFrames in main header is the total number of frames for all types of data (video,audio,etc.) The 'length' value within stream header of type 'vids' is the number of video frames. The sizeImage value within BITMAPINFOHEADER is 921600 (==640*480*3) and the specification states that, quoth, "This can be set to 0 for uncompressed RGB bitmaps."

3. This video uses DIVX encoding.

Now my problem is this: How do I get the data within each video frame in a simple BMP like format? Even the uncompressed frames (with chunk id 'nndb') have variable sizes...let alone the compressed ones.

Information about a software that converts AVIs to a format with fixed sized uncompressed frames. Or at least some information about the frame decompression techniques.

Here's a dump made by the program for a 9 sec, 640x480 video I recorded from Pokemon. (Without the frame dump that is, it'd have made the post too long.)

Code:

AviMainHeader
-------------
size = 56
usecPerFrame = 66666
maxBytesPerSec = 7680000
padSize = 0
flags = 0x00000810
numFrames = 162
initialFrames = 0
numStreams = 2
