C++ :: Calculate Simple Interest Using Functions
Jan 17, 2013
I was trying to make a program of calculating simple intrest using functions. I don't know whats wrong with the program but it always shows a wrong output.
#include<iostream.h>
#include<conio.h>
float si(int p,int r,int t) {
return ((p*t*r)/100.0);
[Code] ....

Your objective is to write a program that calculates the simple interest for a given loan amount and duration (in years).
Formula:
Simple interest = loan amount X interest rate X number of years
Assume interest rate is a constant 6% per year.
Specifically, your program will:
1. Output descriptive header
2. Prompt and read any customer’s first name, middle initial, and last name individually
3. Prompt and read the principal/loan amount
4. Prompt and read the duration of the loan in years
5. Calculate the interest
6. Output:
a. Customer full name
b. Principal/loan amount
c. Duration of loan
d. Interest rate
e. Interest on loan
f. Principal and interest due at end of term
OK SO THIS IS MY PROGRAM SO FAR. As you can see i got it all but i am so confused with as to for loan amount and duration of year, if i should use float or double to declare it?
i need to finish this assignment by calculating the simple interest and i dont know how or where to begin.
int main(){
system("color f0");
string firstName;
string middleInitial;
string lastName;
cout<<"Please enter your First Name: ";

I need to convert the output of simple interest to float which is $5184.90 instead of $5180. how to go about it?

I am programming a simple spell checker which checks if words match in a given dictionary.
The user first enters the words from the dictionary and then the words to check. I have comments in my code that explain how this is done.
The catch for the checking is: I cannot use functions like strcmp or even functions I made myself. For input and output I will also only use getchar and putchar.
Where I am stuck: I have a concept of how to check and compare the words with the dictionary, but this way the looping is extremely confusing (at least in my mind) and I cannot make a functioning one. The concept for this is in the comments of the code.
Here is what I've got so far.
The user enters aaa bb bbaa;abc aaa aa.
The output should be: *abc* aaa *aa*.
Since abc and aa does not match the dictionary on the left, but aaa does.
Also, words can have a max length of 4.
#include <stdio.h>
int main() {
char dictionary[40];
char words[40];
char both[80];

What I'm trying to accomplish is to ask the user what their floor plan is (in square feet), have them pick what kind of material they want and give them a general price.
Which is working out great so far, but I would also like to add a loop at the end that cycles back if they want to re-do the estimate with a different material selection and if not exit out the program.
I've been trying do while and if/else loops but i can't get them to work right.
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
using namespace std;
int main() {
string custName, selection;
int custNumber, floorSize, material, contactSystem;
[Code] ....
That's basically what I've come up with so far minus all the erroneous attempts. Though as is I technically complete the assignment, I would like the extra credit from making the last part loop.

I already wrote a program that will calculate the gross pay for a set of employees.
I want modify the code by adding multiple functions.
I want to create a separate function whenever possible to break up the program.
For example, I would like have a function for obtaining the hours from the user, another function for calculating overtime hours, another for calculating gross pay and another function for producing the output.
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#define STD_HOURS 40.0
#define OT hour>STD_HOURS
#define SIZE 5
int main() {
int clockNumber[SIZE] = {98401, 526488, 765349, 34645, 127615}; /* employee ID */

This program in not completed. I am creating a large program in order to calculate a company's weekly payroll. For now I am filling in the separate functions piece by piece before the rest of the program is completed.
Right now I am trying to use separate functions to call other functions. I need to ask the user for the file name and then open the file. I am no longer getting any compiler errors however when I run the program all it displays is "Welcome."
So it's not actually calling the NameTheFile function and the OpenTheFile function. It just says "Welcome" and then closes down. Why is it doing this?
/*Program to determine company's weekly payroll*/
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
#include <fstream>
using namespace std;
void NametheFile() {
ifstream inputFile;

This is an assignment which the purpose is to calculate an angle value in form of trigonometric functions. These are the codes that I've wrote so far.
#include <iostream>
#include <cstdlib>
using namespace std;
void menu(double &value) {
system("cls");
cout<<"*****Trigonometry Program*****"<<endl;
[Code] ....
I have completed the codes for the interface part. Before I proceed with the formula for the trigonometric functions, I would like to make sure the program is Error-free, which if there is accidental invalid input from the user, the program would the user to enter another input until it is a valid response.
The only problem I have encountered for this matter was in menu(value)
If I enter an integer, the program will proceed without error. However, If I enter a character, the program will slip into an endless loop which constantly shows this
*****Trigonometry Program*****
Please enter an angle value => Is the angle in Degree or Radian?
Type D if it is in Degree
Type R if it is in Radian
Your response=> 0 //my initial input for value
Do you want to continue?
Type Y to continue
Type any other key to stop
Your response =>
Where is the source of the problem? I'm pretty sure it's the loop, but I don't know what to do.

I'm writing a program that calculate the carbon footprint for car, building, and bicycle. i have three classes building, car, bicycle. class called carbonfootprint have the pure virtual and should have the formula, but i didn't find it. having a little bit hard understanding some requests. like,
• Write an abstract class CarbonFootprint with only a pure virtual getCarbonFootprint method. Have each of your classes inherit from that abstract class and implement the getCarbonFootprint method to calculate an appropriate carbon footprint for that class.
• The main() function in the given program creates objects of each of the three classes, places pointers to those objects in a vector of CarbonFootprint pointers. You need to iterate through the vector, polymorphically invoking each object’s getCarbonFootprint method.
// Test program for CarbonFootprint and implementing classes.
#include <iostream>
#include <vector>
using namespace std;
int main() {
vector< CarbonFootprint* > list;
// add elements to list

Equation for compound interest. The interest is supposed to be $43.34 according to the book, I am ending up with around $35. math part.
The equation I need to use is: payment = [(rate * (1 + rate)^number payments ) / ((1 + rate)^number of payments -1)] * loan
Also, the value of rate in the above equation is (interest/12)/100. So 12% annual interest would be 1% monthly interest.
heres my code:
#include<iostream>
#include<cstdio>
#include<cmath>

This exercise should familiarise you with loops, if-then-else statements, and recursion. You will have to design and implement a program that calculates the interest earned on a bank-account. Deadline is the end of Tuesday in week 4.
Interests are compounded; that is, you earn interest on interest. Given a yearly interest rate of say, 6%, you can calculate the total sum available when an initial sum of 4000 pounds is put away for 13 years as follows:
4000 * ( (1 + [6/100])^13 ) = 8531.71 pounds
where the caret symbol denotes 'to the power of'. One way to calculate the power is by repeatedly mulitplying. Ie, you can mulitply 1.06 with 1.06 12 times to calculate 1.06^13.
PART 1
Design and implement a function that raises X to the power Y for a real number X and a positive integer Y. The function must use a while loop.
Design and implement a main program that calculates the sum availble when 1000 pounds has been put away for 25 years with 5 percent interest.
Change the while-loop in the function to a for-loop.

For each quarter, calculate and display the beginning principal balance, the interest earned, and the final principal balance for the quarter.For example: The user entered 1000.00 for the beginning principal balance, 5.25 for the interest rate, and 8 for the number of quarters. The output from this part of the program should be similar to the following:
Q| Beginning Principle| Interest Earned| End Principle
1| $1,000.00 | $13.13 | $1,013.13
2| $1,013.13 | $13.30 | $1,026.42
3| $1,026.42 | $13.47 | $1,039.89
etc
Here is the code I have so far, and I just am not quite sure where to go next.
Code:
{
cout << "Quarters" << " " << "Beginning Principles" << " " <<"Interest Earned" << " " <<"End Principal" << endl;
endprin = balance + (quarter * interest);
interest = quarter * interest;
cout << endprin << endl;
}

I'm a little confused by my programming assignment this week. I've been working at it Wednesday and I've made progress but I'm still confused as to how I'm supposed to do this. The class I made is called Stack, and it's derived from a template class called StackADT. We also utilize a class called unorderedLinkedList, which is derived from a class called linkedList.
We're supposed to implement all of the virtual functions from stackADT in the Stack class. The Stack data is stored in a an unorderedLinkedList, so what I'm confused by is how to implement a few of the Stack functions because there are no functions in unorderedLinkedList which we could call to manipulate the data.
As you can see from my attached code, I'm really confused by how I'm supposed to implement the pop() and top() functions, and I also think my initializeList() function is wrong. We don't have any similar functions in unorderedLinkedList to call, so I'm at a loss of how i'd access my unorderedLinkedList. My initial thought was to call the similar functions in the class that unorderedLinkedList was derived from, linkedList, but I'm unsure of this is what we're supposed to do, or if theres actually a way to access my unorderedLinkedList without having to use the functions from the base class.
NOTE: We're not allowed to modify stackADT, unorderedLinkedList, and linkedList.
Stack.h
#include "stackADT.h"
#include "unorderedLinkedList.h"
template<class Type>
class Stack: public stackADT<Type>{
template <class T>
struct nodeType

At the moment im trying out with pointing to an array of functions. I got this working as following:
typedef void (* functionPtr) ();
functionPtr functions[2][2]={{do11,do12}, {do21,do22}};
void do11(){DEBUG_PRINTLN("11");}
void do12(){DEBUG_PRINTLN("12");}
void do21(){DEBUG_PRINTLN("21");}
void do22(){DEBUG_PRINTLN("22");}
void loop(){
A=0;
B=1;
functions[A][b]();
}
But now I'm trying to use this to point to a function inside a class so instead of do11, i want to be able to point to Basic.Do11. Somehow this doesnt work and I keep on getting this message:
error: argument of type 'void (Basic::)()' does not match 'void (*)()'

I'm having some problems with implementing an AI. It should be just a simple AI that follows player. Here is the code that I got so far:
(float)DirectionX = Circle->GetX() - AI->GetX();
(float)DirectionY = Circle->GetY() - AI->GetY();
(float)Hyp = sqrt(DirectionX * DirectionX + DirectionY * DirectionY);
DirectionX /= Hyp;
DirectionY /= Hyp;
x += DirectionX * 3;
y += DirectionY * 3;
This is what I got so far. It creates a vector in a direction I want to move, then just normalizes the vector. Simple as that. But I'm having 2 problems..
AI moves towards player only when Im at like the end of screen and the AI is on the other side, I must keep a certain distance for it to be able to move towards me. Basically, its not constantly moving towards the player. I also tried it with trig, using atan2 for angle and sin / cos for speed. Also didn't work, same result.
The other problem is when I want to add i.e 5 more AIs. For each new AI it creates, it makes a new update.. So, to kinda clear it up. If I'm in middle of the screen and an AI is spawned above me, it will move towards me. But when after that one, 2nd AI spawns beneath me, both 1st and 2nd AI move up. Basically, previous AIs take the update from last one that is created. For updating I'm using lists, objects and iters.
