I want to sort a vector int in ascending order, but when I test, the output isn't correct - the vector is still unsorted. Am I calling it incorrectly?

This compiles fine but when I run the .exe for the first time an error message comes up saying program has stopped working. If I run the program again without recompiling it seems to work as expected.
The code is supposed to take either an int or a string (and their respective vectors) and insert a given int or string into the vector in ascending order. My code works properly for ints, but it's having a problem with strings.
The order I get with the strings given is
penguin
banana
great
jungle
For some reason comparing penguin to banana/great doesn't give the expected result. The template attached only includes the function and the private vectors needed for the function.

I'm trying to use a priority queue sorting in reverse order to take a vector or 2d array. The problem is that I want to sort by the vector/array cell value but keep the reference to the vector/array index of the value. I don't know quite howto keep them both related so when I pop. I have to put these numbers in ascending and descending order . The interesting point of the function is that sortMe does NOT re-arrange elements in the array; instead, it uses a second array, an array of indexes for the elements in the original array and then sortMe sorts the second array based on the values in the original array. A sorted version of the original array can then be produced with these sorted indexes. I'm not sure why the function is working, even though I called it in main.
