C++ :: String Termination Using The Getline Function?
May 28, 2013I came across a strange problem while writing a program using the getline function. I understand that when using the getline function an input string will terminate when the "enter" key is pressed and in the following program it works as one would suspect.

However when I use it in this next program (below) that I have been working on it will only terminate after pressing the "enter" key if the first character is a number, otherwise it will not terminate. So the question is: How do I get it to terminate the string regardless of the input order?

Additional Info: the purpose of this program is to change a character, which is extracted from a string, into an equivalent numerical value, if the character is an integer, and assign it to an int variable. I plan on eventually adapting it to return the correct value of a multi-character integer such as 123.

Jan 9, 2014so i was trying to find out how to do unbuffered input in linux and came across this class: [URL] . i didnt like how i had to create a new instance of it each time i wanted to use it, so i made the functions static and renamed the class to Buffer. i could then call it like this: Buffer::On(); Buffer::Off();. My question is, when doing something like that where the class consists of two functions that can exist indepently of another, which is better: a class like what i did or wrapping it in a namespace?

My C++03 compiler is giving me the following error:

Is this a compiler issue, or am I missing something here trying to use a friend function? If I don't put the OBJID class in a namespace, everything compiles fine.

Sep 30, 2014I'm using windows forms and I have a parent dialog box that consists of a text box and a drop-down that launches a child dialog box. The child takes user input and then prints dialog to the text box in the parent. However, the output does not appear in the text box until I close the child.
Now my question is, how do I get the text to appear without closing the child? I hit a button to send the info to the text box, but it still doesn't appear until the child closes. I also need to set up a button to suspend the child so that the user can click/copy/etc the parent.

It runs at logon and takes somewhat 5-10 seconds to finish execution. The output is shown on console screen & user can either close the window by clicking on 'x' or pressing 'Ctrl+c' during execution. How do i prevent both of these events?

Oct 11, 2014I've found that with streamwriter(sw) the data isn't displayed with the written to document until you either leave scope or use sw.close I'd prefer to keep sw open as I will be writing to the file in and out, sometimes very frequently, but would also prefer the data to be viewed in real time. Aug 9, 2013I have an C++ application which uses Microsoft Web browser ActiveX control to launch any URL within the application. The browser is embedded in C++ form and It's working fine with all the feature Microsoft has exposed through Interface(IID_IWebBrowser2).But while any url that is using session cookie has been launched, even after closing the browser the session cookies are not getting deleted. For example if user login info is stored as session cookies,the url is using the cookies and getting launched without asking for user log in info.
But if I close the browser, and again relaunch , the cookies should be deleted and the url will not find the cookies to be used for log in . That is not happening here. Although this is session cookies , it's not getting deleted and being used by embedded browser. However, if the url is launched in IE, it is behaving as expected.
So, Do I need to delete the cookies explicitly? If Yes, How to do that?

Mar 22, 2013I'm doing a refresher for C++ and have gotten to operator overloading. I'm trying to perform an operator overload with the insertion (<<) operator, but I have encountered a problem.
Here's my class [In a header file "Shinigami.h"]

If the operator function is a friend of the 'Shinigami' class, why doesn't it recognize any of it's private members? I need it to be in this file because I'm doing a bit of association with the 'Quincy' class.
I thought it was the namespace, but I included that.
