C :: Set Variables Based On File Read?

I am trying to fscanf a file and need to read the variable name 'f9' and 'a2' for example in the sample below and get their corresponding values '8' and '2' and then in my C program set the variables f9 and a2 accordingly (which I can declare as variables). Is this possible?
I making a Sudoku Solver and am thinking I would store the puzzle solution in a 2D array with a1=0, a2=1, etc... where 0, 1 are the array indices... then just print the array as the solution.
Note: The a1, a2, a3, etc... is my own numbering of the indices where the letter corresponds to the row and the number corresponds to the column (starting from 1) which I use when feeding to the solver.
I have a file that has the following format (output of Z3 SMT solver):

So I have to read from a file, and store the information in separate variables. My problem is that for some of the information I need multiple words, and for others I don't, so I cant simply store 1 word into a variable and store the next in another in so on. To demonstrate what I mean let me give an example.
Dog Cat Blue Bird Snake White Horse
I am able to store "Dog","Cat","Blue","Bird"...etc in variables but I don't know how to make it so I can store "Dog" in one variable, "Cat" in a second variable. and "Blue Bird" in a third variable. "Snake" would be the 4th and "White Horse" would be the fifth. How can I read a file and manipulate the pointer to grab what I need?

I am developing a program that will read a function (x^2+2x+4 or other function) and then comparing and start assigning variables. My idea is with an array:

Well this is my basically idea, but when the program detect an ^ this will be associate with the exp(x,n); well in general the user enter a function: x^3+3x^2+4x-8 give a value for x for example 3 and the program will convert in -- exp(3,3)+3*exp(3,2)+4*3-8 --, but I don't know how.

So I have this text file that I am trying to read from and store the values of each line in multiple variables. Let's say my text file contains
AXSYZ3482 Tom 100 112 and my code below here works fine when the lines in the text file is separated by spaces.

It seem to store the entire line in userID including the ":". I want to ignore the ":"'s and store everything in between in respective varibles in the order specified above.
So first string in userID, then ignore the :, then second string in name, and ignore the next :, and so forth.

I have a program where I will read in a certain .txt file, such as "financial_data.txt" and I will be doing some sorting with this data.
I want my program to write out the sorted data to an output file and I want the name of the output file to be based off of the input name. For example, since my input file is "financial_data.txt", I want the output file name to be "financial_data_out.txt".

My issue is now a segmentation fault in my sorting algorithm. In my assignment I was suppose to implement quick and insertion sort for the file, and organised strictly by ASCII values. We were allowed to look up generic algorithms for the sorts, but we have to convert them to comparing char arrays.
I haven't started trying to configure quick sort yet, but I'll supply the generic algorithm as well. keep in mind that the first line in the file contains the number of lines in the file. I'll try not to disappear this time!

The scenario is that I have an XSD schema; I have generated a C# class using the XSD tool in the Visual studio command line.
I have then created a basic console app, which will populate the first partial class in the generated C# class.
The program will then serialize this data and create an XML in a folder as a proof of concept.
The issue I'm having is working out the best way to populate and serialize all the data from the class, as the XSD it was generated from is quite large.
I would like to be able to randomise the data at a later stage once I have the basic populating and serializing working.

I want to read the contents of a file block (512 bytes) by block using low I/O read statements. Each record is 64 bytes long and has a pre-defined structure. The first 4 bytes are an unsigned integer; the next 20 bytes are ascii text, etc.
I have a buffer which I can access with buf[0] to buf[63] to read the first record and then buf[64] to buf[127] for the second, etc. However, I was wondering how to map a record so that I can refer to an integer as an integer and a float as float, etc. I can't create a struct and move the 64 bytes to it, as I will have alllignment/padding problems.
What is the standard way to deal with records in C?

I have two classes, productListType and buyerListType, that are each basically linked lists. To create the linked list for an object of productListType, I successfully wrote a non-class function createProductList to read the product data from a text file. The class definition for buyerListType has a data member productBoughtRecord that is of type productListType to aggregate the details of the products purchased by a particular buyer during transactions. I decided to make productBoughtRecord a pointer since the contents of this data member would wax and wane over the course of several transactions, depending on the amount and frequency of payments made by the buyer. I have provided a rough sketch of the class below:

I'm similarly trying to write a non-class function createBuyerList to load the record of customers from a text file. I'm trying to read a "pointer-based" maze .txt. The first letter in each row corresponds to the room letter...then the letters that follow are North node, East node, South node, and West node respectively. The asterisk indicates an empty room or not a valid option.
Here is what I have come up with, what is happening is after the file is parsed by read_maze it is calling my is_empty function indicating that there is no maze because it doesn't go into the else statement here.
I've attached a sample input file:
maze.txt (130bytes)
Number of downloads: 19
We can't assume the rooms will be in order alphabetically A - Z, We are expecting a maximum of 12 rooms and there is a space between each letter or asterisk.

For a few days now I have been trying to call variables (globes) from another CPP file so I can add/subtract data from them and use them in other places. I have my defines.h file working which contains all my constants but my defines.cpp (which is required to hold all the non constants) are not. Anyways I am getting the error :

I'm trying to split up my game (about 1300 lines) into header files, but I'm coming up with a problem whenever I try and put a function in a header file, when that function was modifying some variables that were defined before int main in the .cpp. For example:
int variable1 (0);
int variable2 (0);
void increasevariables() {
variable 1 = variable1 + 1;
variable2 = variable2 + 1;

If it only modified one variable then I could just pass that variable and the return it:(return variable1 + 1;)But I don't know how to make a function in a header file modify several pre-existing variables. In the actual program, the variables are dependant on each other and the modifying is a lot more complicated, so I'd rather not split it into several functions and run one at a time if there's another way.
