C++ :: Turn Binary File Data Into Unsigned Character Array For Inclusion In Executable

Jul 10, 2013

So I wrote a program to turn a binary file's data into an unsigned character array for inclusion in an executable. It works just super.

I'm wondering how I can write a program that will perform this operation on every file in a directory and all it's sub-directories so that I can I can include everything I need all at ounce.

C :: Read From Stdin (File) Character By Character

Nov 10, 2013

I have to optimize a code for below scenario. I am reading stdin (a file redirected to stdin) character by character. How many chars are going to come is not known. After every few chars there is a seaparator. e.g $ as below

rhhrkkj$hghjhdf$ddfkrjt

While reading, if the separator arrives I'm processing the string stored before that separator and then continue reading stdin in same fashion, till EOF. I am using getc(stdin) to read chars.

Using gprof I can see most of the program time is spent inside main() , for this reading logic. Rest of the program is just some insert and search operations. I am getting time of 0.01 secs at the moment, want to reduce further.

void Doc::setdayinhour ( intdayinHOUR[] ){
for(int i=0;i<7;i++) {

C/C++ :: Writing Array To Binary File

So I'm trying to write an array of integers to a binary file. He's my code:

#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
using namespace std;

[Code].....

I know that it is an array of characters right now, and I will be using the reinterpret_cast when I finish my program. Anyways, when I run the executable, it only writes 1234 to the file. My assumption was that the sizeof() was not being set properly, but even manipulating that won't fix it.

C++ :: How To Read TXT File Character By Character

Oct 6, 2013

In my program, I'm supposed to read a text file (the name of which is given to me as a command line paramater, as long with an integer), and display the text in a specific format (each line can only be as long as the integer). However, I'm having trouble even reading the text file. I don't know the syntax. I'm only allowed to edit the function that does the formatting, and the code in that is

void typeset (int maxWidth, istream& documentIn)

I don't know how to 'read' the file, as most examples online are ifstream, or openFile or something like that. What I want to do is just read the first character of the file, and continuously keep reading characters until the end of the file.

C++ :: Extra Parameter Passing To Overloaded Binary Operator Function

Jun 11, 2013

I have a class matrixType that has some overloaded operators (+, -, *, and <<). With a view to having clearly-delineated, perfectly-formatted, four-sided matrices, as shown below:

A = 1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
or
A + B = 1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9

and NOT this jagged ones shown below:

A = 1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9

or

A + B = 1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
,

I want a scheme in which the string literals (A, A+B, etc.) could be passed as parameters to the overloaded stream insertion (<<) operator function so that I could use the string’s length to determine how much offset from the display screen’s left to apply to each matrix’s row (by using the setw() function). However, I do know that the << operator is a binary operator, meaning the function cannot take more than two parameters: that is what compounds my problem!

C++ :: Fixed Point Int Min Value

May 14, 2013

I am reading about positive and negative infinity in c++ and i am trying to implement them in a fixed point math arthimethic implementation

I can see that max of a int will be equal to std::numeric_limits<int>::max();
and min value of the int will be equal to std::numeric_limits<int>::min();
in c++

Here as i am defining the int max and int min manually in my fixed point math implementation, my doubt is
int min = -int max; or int min = -int max -1; ?

C :: Fixed Point From String

Oct 9, 2013

I have been writing a fixed point library the would handle fixed point numbers with an 8:24 whole/fraction ratio. This has been working quite well but since I have a 24 bit fractional part, it should be able to store 2^(-24).

Code:
long long fraction_part = 0;
long long divisor = 1;

while(*string) {
fraction_part *= 10;
fraction_part += *string - '0';
divisor *= 10;
string++;
}

fraction_part <<= 24;
fraction_part /= divisor;

The issue here is that since the smallest possible fraction is 2^(-24) the divisor could end up needing more than 64 bits and so won't work. I'm not quite sure how else I could do this.
