View 5 RepliesI'm using
CString text;
CString file_name;
text = "My text.";
file_name = "MyFile.txt";
FILE *fp;
fp = fopen(file_name, "w+");
fprintf(fp, text + "
");
fclose(fp);
There will be MyFile.txt in Windows codepage.
How to write to txt file with DOS codepage?
if i have 2 variables for which values are given by the user,then,does the information get stored into the file in the name of the variable,or just like packs of information.....if the former is true,how to extract the information of a particular variable alone from the whole file?

This is what the notepad file looks like

Why does it give me random numbers in the output rather than what the notepad has?
Also, the outfile is completely blank.

I need to make a program which reads multiple lines from a text file and stores that information in a vector of structs(the vector class template also needs to be custom made).
One of my requirements is to have a class dedicated for I/O for the text file. At the moment I can't seem to get a way to input the data from a file into a vector from an InputOutput class. This is my code:
InputOutput.h
#include <ostream>
#include <fstream>
#include "Share.h"
#include <string>
#include "Vector.h"
class InputOutput {
[Code] ....
This is the menu selection function in the menu.cpp where i figured i would call the Input file and store it from case 1. I think I'm doing it wrong though. Is there a better way of doing this because at the moment i am getting some errors such as error LNK2019.
void Menu::UserMenuSelection() {
Vector<Share> shares;
std::ifstream infile;
switch (menuOption) {

I need to a simple example for writing class' objects to a text file using fstream , I tried to search the forums and I found binary examples but not for to a text file.
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo I have a small program which is supposed to write and read multiple objects from a file, but for some reason it doesn't write the information when I use "fstream" to create the object from the fstream class, but it does when I use "ofstream". Also, it doesn't read the information from the file no matter if I use "fstream" or "ifstream". I watched a video where this exact code worked just fine, but it just won't work when I run it. I'm using Dev C++ 4.9.9.2, I don't know if that has anything to do with it, I also tried it with Code::Blocks, didn't work either.
Here's the code.
#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
using namespace std;
class Person

Write a class definition for a Fraction class. Its member fields are num and den, both of type int. The constructor builds the default fraction 1/1. It has the following operations:
void plusEquals(Fraction second);
//Adds the second fraction to this fraction like the operator += void minusEquals (Fraction second);
//Subtracts the second fraction from this fraction void timesEquals (Fraction second);
//Divides this fraction by the second fraction void dividesEquals (Fraction second);
// Divides this fraction by the second fraction void reduce();
// Reduces this fraction to lowest terms double todecimal();
//returns the decimal value of this fraction void scan(istream&);
//scans a fraction written with a slash as in ¾ void print(ostream&);
//prints a fraction using a slash Fraction();
//constructs a default fraction with denominator 1, numerator 0 Fraction(int n, int d); //constructs a fraction given value for num and den
2. Write a menu-driven driver program designed to allow thorough testing of your Fraction class.
I've got an application here which connects over the internet to a webserver and sends some json strings. This is all working already.
Now I want to encode one string via mcrypt (because it seemed the easiest library of all) AES and send it over to the other server where it should get decrypted again and checked for validity.
I'll be using this sample code as "starting base". i've found it on the internet:
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <string.h>
/*
* MCrypt API available online:
[Code] ....
The code works as it is, it encodes my string into a ciphered text and displays the text via the display function to stdout.
From previous projects I know I usually used Base64 for transporting strings via json, but in this example the string is encoded into "%d" - so decimals.. It works too, and I dont care if I send a base64 encoded string or these decimals but how would I calculate back the %d encoded string ? So how would a "undisplay()" class look alike ?
Or maybe there is an easier way to transport the string and re-decode it ?
I'd expect something like:
base64string = base64encode(ciphertext);
...
send base64string to host2
...
at host2:
ciphertext = base64decode(base64string)
...
and then mcrypt_decode that ciphertext...
I am writing a program to zip and unzip files using Huffman Encoding. I have successfully Built my Huffman Tree but I am unable to traverse through it to retrieve code the code for each character in sample files using the GetCode() method.
Here is my zip.cpp file:
#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <algorithm>
#include <cctype>
#include "huffman.h"
using namespace std;
void CountLetters(int frequency[]);
int main(int argc, char *argv[]) {
[Code] ....
Specifically I am having trouble with the following segment in zip.cpp where I want to go through my built tree and print out each character and it's associated ascii value using the GetCode() method in huffman.cpp
cout << " Here are the codes: "<< endl;
for(char ch = char(0); ch <= char(255); ch++)
//for(int i= 1; i < 256; i++ )
{ //int x = (char) i;
if(mytree.inTree('*'))

I'm new to C++ and involving encoding and decoding text from text files. When I enter a file in the program just stalls.
#include <iostream >
#include <iomanip>
#include <string>
#include <cstring>
#include <fstream>
using namespace std;
char getmenuselection (char m);

I'm trying to parse some binary data in the form of an array of bytes and I've come across something that is confusing me related to the representation of data as chars versus ints. It's a bit of a long story, but the byte array contains a mixture of character data and integer data which I' having trouble unravelling. The problem seems to arise from the issue below:
Code:
const char * ch_arr = "abcd";
const unsigned int * ui_arr = (const unsigned int*)ch_arr;
cout << ui_arr[0] << endl;
unsigned int ui = 'a';
ui = ui << 8;
ui |= 'b';
ui = ui << 8;
ui |= 'c';
ui = ui << 8;
ui |= 'd';
cout << ui << endl;
I expected both the output lines to be the same, since they contain the same bytes (I believe), but I get:
Code:
1684234849
1633837924
I am writing a porgram which includes encoding and decoding a message.Now I am doing the encoding part.
The goal is to encode a message using similar approach as Caesar Cipher. But instead of alphabets, I am going to use the entire ASCII code of total 128 codes to be the base.
And it is not a simple shifting, it is a rotation. This means if you want to shift 4 units from char <DEL>, it will come back to the first code in ASCII Code which is at dec 0 char <NUL> and starts the shifting again. It won't jump if the limit of ASCII Code is reached.
Here we've got 7 different malls' names and I am going to encode them with a shift n. I think n is free to set, so here I just set it as 5. This is also called the key.
I have written something and I think it should work, but after all it doesn't. And I don't get what is wrong.
Here is my program:
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
const int NUMBER_OF_MALLS = 7;
const int MALL_NAME_LENGTH = 13;
const int NAME_SIZE = MALL_NAME_LENGTH + 1;
void encode(int key, char plain[], int length, char encoded[]) {
for (int i = 0; i < MALL_NAME_LENGTH; i++)
[code].....
Note that I am not going to use other libraries, just <iostream>.
I'm transferring a unicode string from one program to another with UTF-8 encoding.
Program that is sending:
Code:
// Convert path
std::wstring_convert<std::codecvt_utf8<wchar_t>> utf8_converter;
CString arg = L" /PATH="" + CString(utf8_converter.to_bytes(path).c_str()) + L""";
Program that is retrieving:
Code:
// Restore original path
std::wstring_convert<std::codecvt_utf8<wchar_t>> utf8_converter;
std::wstring path = utf8_converter.from_bytes( argument );
Everything has worked fine, until running on a Japanese edition of Windows.
The "byte path" then looks something like "C:¥Users¥d✝?✝a ,?¥AppData¥Local¥Temp¥file.txt".
"from_bytes()" will throw an std::range_error exception "bad conversion".
The program works fine when working with Japenese writing inside paths in the English edition.
What could be causing the "bad conversion"?
Basically, I am inserting data from an ODBC connection into a PostgreSql database using the COPY query, but the COPY query stops and returns this error...
Quote
ERROR: invalid byte sequence for encoding "UTF8": 0x92
CONTEXT: COPY [TableName], line 1: "189572|1-00-1202|1-|00-|1202||AP||1...

I have a char *pch that points to an integer digit 1 or 2 or ... 9. To get the character that's 1 less, instead of converting to int, minus 1, then converting back to char, I tried (*pch -1) and that seemed to work. I suppose that's because the particular character encoding on my system is such that the digits are encoded in the same order and spacing as the integers they represent. So the question is does this "convenience" feature hold true for all character encoding systems?

So what I'm trying to do is passing a number, which is in the TreeNode Text to the WinForm. On the Winform I have a couple of Labels which I want to fill with Informations. To get those informations I have a class with a method which Needs my number from the User Controller. But I can not Access the Labels in the WinForm Method.
Here my code:

I'm new to coding, and I have to write a program to display a class schedule to the user (the classes are entered into the program in strings like this:
Code:
course Calculus3 = {80934,"MATH",11,"Calculus 3","Edward Turner","M,W",950,1100}; )
in the format of an excel file (the user picks the classes they want to have) that then displays the course title and professor in the correct cell corresponding to the day/time the class meets. I've been googling it, and from what I've read, I think I need to use a csv file, but I don't know how to input the data into the file. I know the general format for how data is entered, but I don't know how to write it into a specific file or if I even have to (we covered txt files very briefly in my class, but never touched csv files).
I need to create a GlobalConfig class. But I want to derive from it in another class.
Here's an example:
public class BaseConfig {
public string GlobalPath {get; set;}
}
public class ConfigA : BaseConfig {
public string pathA {get; set;}
}
public class ConfigB : ConfigA {
public string pathB {get; set;}
}
The idea behind is that I don't want to write the code multiple times and what's more important in class ConfigA I want to set GlobalPath and have access to it in ConfigB.
In other word I want class ConfigB to have a property GlobalPath which was set in class ConfigA.
To clarify I want to have only one object of Config in memory.
When I set BaseConf.GlobalPath to 'A', I want to access it from ConfigB.GlobalPath and also get 'A'.
I always design GlobalConfig as a static class, but static classes can't be inherited. So I tried to implement Singleton Pattern, but ConfigA can't find constructor of class BaseConfig because it's private.
One of my class assignments is to create a program that receive a .txt file containing a students name and their grades as follows:
John K. 99, 87, 57, 89, 90, 95
Amanda B. Jones 100, 88, 76, 99, 86, 92
etc..
The number of students is unknown until run time. You have to take those grades and average them weighing the first (4) at 10% a piece and the last (2) at 30% each.
Then return an output file with the students name and their letter grade A,B,C,D,F based on their computed score. In addition, on screen it needs to display the average scores for each Q1, Q2, etc. as well as the minimum and maximum for each test on the screen. I am having a hard time in assigning the scores to a variable so that they can then be computed as an average and then used to determine a letter grade. I have begun to write the code and am a bit stuck..here's what I have so far:
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <math.h>

The Objective Of This Program Is To Create A File To Write Text And Read Back The File Content. To Do That I Have Made Two Function writeFile() To Write And readFile() To Read.The readFile() function works just fine but writeFile() doesn't.
How writeFile() function Works? when writeFile() function Execute It Takes Characters User Type And When Hit Enter(ASC|| 10) It Ask "More?(Y/N)" That Means What User Want? Want To Go Next Line Or End Input?
If "Y" Than Inputs Are Taken From Next Line Else Input Ends.
But The Problem Is When Program Encounters ch==10 It Shows "More?(Y/N)" And Takes Input In cmd variable.If cmd=='Y' I Mean More From Next Line Than It Should Execute Scanf Again To Take ch I Mean User Input.But Its Not!!! Its Always Showing "More?(Y/N)" Again And Again Like A Loop.
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
void writeFile(void);
void readFile(void);
int main(){
[Code].....
how do i decompress an input file and write the results into an output file?
also my do while loop is supposed to keep going unless the user selects the option to exit the program, instead it exits after finishing ay of the options.
here's my code so far...
#include <iostream>
#include <iomanip>
#include <fstream>
[Code]....
I have a .txt file which I want to read from and then write a new text file, this time with sorted lines. It is easy to sort one value, but what about sorting entire lines based on one value?
I want to sort the lines based on the FIRST value.
Example text file contents:
values;data
5.01 100
2.9 342
2.69 43534
10.1 43
6.8 45324
Output: Text file containing
2.69 43534
2.9 342
5.01 100
6.8 45324
10.1 43
It's easy to do this if there was only 1 number on each line, but I do I sort all the lines based on the first number in each line?
We have to write a program that reads an input file containing data in the form:
Martha J, 80, 90, 90, 100, 89, 99, 85
Anna Smith, 65, 72, 77, 68, 62, 70, 65
Bill Gates, 60, 54, 89, 62, 65, 60, 50
...etc...
and then use that information to determine their letter grade and write that information to a .txt file. I have been able to successfully pass that information to a function to determine their letter grade and have been able to successfully compute their letter grade. However, I can get this information to successfully post within the *computeGrade () function. Yet, I don't know how to pass this information back to the main() on a student by student basis so that I can open a new .txt file and write just their name and letter grade to it.
Another issue I'm having is when it comes to computing the averages of the class. Each score is either a quiz (there are 4), a midterm (there are 2) or a final (there is 1). I'm a little stuck on how to pass say all of the quiz 1 grades as one entity to the function averagesminmax(). Is there a way to compile each of the grades for a specific quiz or midterm as one array and pass that to the function to then do the computation. Also we need the min and max so again from compiling the grades of a particular quiz or exam together as one.
Here's the code that I have so far.
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <math.h>
const char *computeGrade();
int averagesminmax();
int main() {
char fName[20];
char lName[20];
[code]....
Do I need to re-read the input file and assign them to different variables?
Here's a sample of the output so far:
Enter input .txt file name
Graded
Thui Bhu, 91, A
Ariana B. Smith, 96, A
Emily Gonzales, 83, B
Jennifer L, 89, B
Maria Jones, 67, D
Bill Gates, 55, F
Escobar Morris, 78, C
Anne Latner, 88, B
Program ended with exit code: 0
Also in my output file, the only thing that it prints will be the first name of whatever the last student in the input file list is.
I am trying to get the code to read from the txt file one bite at a time and then write this bite into the binary file but i cant seem to get it working.
FILE *fpcust, *fpcustbin; //<<<<<-----point to both sales and customers text files, and the new .bin files for both
char buffer;
int ch;
int ch1;
fpcust = fopen("c:customers.txt", "r"); //<<<<-----pointing to the file
fpcustbin = fopen("c:customers.bin", "wb"); //<<<<<-----pointing to the new binary file, opening in writing binary
