I want to know if there is a function or library that starts counting time when the program starts. Because I'm making a program that is dependent on time.

Pseudo code

C/C++ :: Merging 2 Files Program Starts But Does Not Complete

I'm having an issue with merging two files. Basically, my instructor gave me pseudocode and two files to merge together. Each file (a male client and a female client file) has three names and id numbers inside. The finished MergedClients.rtf should have all six clients in ascending ID order. I wrote the C++ code and after combing through a couple times to fix a few errors, it finally ran. The problem is it starts the process, but it doesn't ever finish.

I tried changing some of the bool expressions thinking I mixed up the true and false parts. After that the program ran and it created the new output file, but the file was empty. So, I don't think I mixed any of those expressions after all.

I am checking out this simple piece of code:

and the results are :

Task1 started in : 2 in milliseconds
Task1 finished in : 4015 in milliseconds.

The problem is, that if i count the time with an external device, just like the timer of my watch or my cellphone s,the total time is 4,8 or 4,9 seconds, which i wouldn t expect that to happen.

The first thing i ve thought, is that it takes the ThreadPool about 800msec or 1 sec to create the thread so as to execute this task, but even if it is so, shouldn t the stopwatch count the time precisely?So , why is there a deviation between an external timer and the stopwatch ?

1.the timer function has to be such that when any key is pressed in between the specified time its has to stop its counting and go to the nest line and functions . i checked sleep function but if any key is pressed its does not break out of the sleep program and execute the next command

2.and if the timer has completely finished running then it has to skip few lines and execute the program .

It works well and I am using ctrl-D as my EOF. Now I understand that C is not really a language for dealing with text, which is why I am learning it more in depth, my degree was in robotics, and I think C is definitely the best place to be for me. So this may just be a quirk, but if I type more than 10 characters, I get the right answer from the program, however, if I type less than 10, for the sake of argument I type Hello and then return, if I at that point do ctrl-D, I get the answer 6D?

The 6 is right 5 letters and a return character, but what is the D?

C++ :: Fractal Starts Zooming Out

I'm trying to zoom into a fractal and to do this I'm using mouse click to calculate where the centre should be and then taking away 1 from the right and top and adding 1 to the left and bottom to make a zoomed in version. This works perfectly... for 15 zooms. When the value of the left and right meet each other the fractal starts zooming out instead of in. Through multiplication maybe?

I've spent some time trying to performance test various methods of loading / accessing a file, either into memory or through a memory mapped file, but I am having some trouble.

I'm have trouble because Windows appears to cache the file, so I am getting very mixed results. Sometimes a huge file (100's MB's) will load quickly, other times almost instantly.

How to stop Windows from doing whatever it's doing, so I can see the real time taken to load/access a file from disk?

I'm challenged to write a program which calculates the time difference between two daytime.

compiler doesn't give an error, yet the warning: "format '%d' expects argument of type 'int *', but argument 3 has type 'int' [- Wformat]" for lines 24 and 26

However, by entering the first time the program crashes anyway. so I assume I do really need some pointer to make it read from the console can you see where my problem is?
