I'm writing a Hotel magmt app. I'm having difficulty on how to implement a hotel attendant selecting/secure multiple rooms(with nos) for a Customer using combobox or listbox or something. How my interface will look like and techniques.
View 1 RepliesI am writing a program in Visual C++ 10 with 2 forms.
In the first form I have a textbox and a button. The button opens the second form.
In the second form, I have a button that changes the text in the textbox in form1 to an item from a listbox in form2.
Here is my problem. When I do the code for the button in form2 to change the textbox in form1 I get the errors:
error C2065: 'textBox1' : undeclared identifier
error C2227: left of '->Text' must point to class/struct/union/generic type
I thought maybe I should just include the "Form1.h" file but I can't do that because I already included "Form2.h" in form1 in order to be able to open the second form. If I try to include form1 in form2, it says that the code to open form2 is an error now.
My question is, how can I access identifiers such as "textbox1" from other forms and other files when I already used the first form to open the second form? I also want to know how to do this for all identifiers between all files.
how to print the selecteditem from a listbox into a textbox because that doesn't work by just setting them equal either.

I have a listbox that retrieves a bunch of values. I'm able to selectAll, Select None and Select Individual items. I'm not able to search the ListBox and select based on String value.
I have tried creating a for and if loop, but it will only select a single item (first item) in my ListBox.

Im working on a script compiler and i need to handle different types of data. Actually different categories of items.
Let's say i have two categories: cat's and bird's. They are different and stored in different lists. And let's say there is a simple command: GIVE_FOOD_TO(animal_type, food_type) Animal type here can be either from birds category or cat's category.
And also let's say user gives command: GIVE_FOOD_TO(cat1, fish)
and also for example: GIVE_FOOD_TO(bird1, birdfood)
Variable names could be anything, but im storing each variable name in std::map so later i can figure out with what animal current command is used.
When im parsing the script then i must know if user supplied either cat or bird. If i just would have cat's or bird's category then i would have only 2 lists and not a big problem to loop through either cats list or birds list and find out in what list the "cat1" is or in what particular list the "bird1" is. It would be in one or another.
But i have a lot of categories and looping through all of these lists (or std::maps) is slow and doesn't seem like a good. Just to find out in what list it's stored. I can't rely on variable names, they could be anything.
Big picture atm:
1) I have one BIG box which stores all of the categories
2) When i need to find out to which category the variable (animal_type) point's to i must get it quickly, dunno, std::map in std::map or something?
What i need basically is: I have different lists (each one is just a category for either birds or cats in this example) And when i have variable name, i must find out quickly in what particular category this item is stored. So i can work with it.
i can write a mfc program to make a Thumbnail view with image but can not this when change image with CDialogBox.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am suppose to make a value to attach to a array and then have it stop on the last one with an error if it were to go past (done more or less).
Problem is I am suppose to use a int to hold the value of the array and then add 1 each time but my question is, if you were to add another number to increase your current array slot, what would that look like as I image that going array[0] + 1 isn't going to make it array[1].
I have a MFC app that has a CDHtmlDialog embedded in it. During run time i update the HTML content from the C++ code. There's a IMAGE tag in the content and the SRC for the tag is updated multiple times in a second to show different images.
Basically i go over a WHILE loop in the C++ and call a JavaScript function to update the "src" for the "img" tag.
The issue am seeing is that, after running this code for a while the application kinda hangs and the system takes up lot's of memory.
How to solve this, as all the code that's in the browser side of app is HTML & JavaScript. I looked through the C++ code plugged all memory leaks there.

I want to select 1 element from each vector without duplication of any combinations.
Essentially only when all combinations are done with 1st element in first vector ,only then it should move to next element in first vector say i have elements :[123] [456] [789]

Also, i need no repetitions and only after all combinations of 1 are done only then the loop has to move to next combination ie 247 combination and so on.
i tried NCK (n choose k) command but it gave me random combinations.how should i go about it with using minimal for loops

fclose(eng); It's a piece of my code. Some explanation: From file, where is full of words under selves. I cut it on word and from word i'm printing:
1) word
2) how many letters in the word
3) word backwards and
4) viz. problem is down
For first: There i have warning: while(feof(eng) == NULL); like (comparison between pointer and integer) i don't get it. For second i have a big problem. I must from every word print the most recurring character.
For example: nondeterministically -> the most are N and I. And if, there is more then one most reccuring char, you choose one of them.

I'm building a simple system management console application. I've abstracted the console "Menu" and derived from it a "WelcomeMenu" class with public inheritance.
The problem is that when instantiating a Menu* object and assigning it a new WelcomeMenu...I'm still not able to use WelcomeMenu's "ShowWelcomeMessage() with the Menu* object. Instead, I get "error: Class 'Menu' has no member function call 'ShowWelcomeMessage().' Which is true, but I thought a pointer-to-Menu object should be able to use the public methods of derived classes without casting in this case. Code follows.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an assignment that wants me to better understand how certain calls like malloc() and free() work. I'm supposed to have one function that allocates a pool of memory for the program to use (this is the only place where I'm allowed to use the malloc function. Anyplace else is off limits, except when allocating space for data structures.) Another function needs to be defined that allocates memory from this large pool of memory that we have already allocated. A third function needs to free a block of memory when a call from function main is made and a fourth does something else (haven't gotten that far yet.) I'm not sure if it's ok or not, but I'll attach the pdf form that describes all the requirements. If that's not ok, I'll delete it.)
Anyways, when thinking of data structures to use for this particular problem, one doesn't jump out at me as being THE data structure that would be most useful. How I would imagine using it is to store the addresses currently being used as well as the block length of those addresses (so basically, each node of the linkedlist would have a pointer that points to an allocated address and another field that told the size of the allocated block of memory.) How to communicate to the large pool of memory that a certain block of memory has been allocated and shouldn't be used until a free is made on that specific block of memory.

Supposing you have a 3 or more overlapping arrays (arrays having elements in common), and you wish to select 2 or more of the arrays with the maximum number of elements but less overlap as compared to the rest of the overlapping arrays.
Eg. A[4],B[6],C[5]. A+B contains 10 elements but say the overlapping element is 3, meaning it has 7 unique element.
Also B+C=11 elements , but supposing it has 5 overlaps, it would mean it has only 6 unique elements. A+B+C=15. Supposing the overlaps are 11 then it means the unique elements are 4. Ect. So per the example, the best array options with most unique element would be A+B .

but when i select a collumn, i recive an error because i'm selecting a cell with the mouse and i dont have code for that selection. My question is how can i put an "if" on the beguining of the event so that he can determine if it's a header or not.
How would I go about selecting a subitem in a listview control with just pure Win32 API? I know it's possible with MFC... but I can't use MFC for this project. The problem that this behavior is not what users of my program expect. Another constraint is that I need to use old CFileDialog dialog, not Common File Dialogs. I've tried to use advises described on StackOverflow and on MSDN. This solution by EllisMiller works perfectly:
Specifying a full path (including filename) in lpstrFile. The filename of course shows up in the filename box which is annoying. I ended up using a filename of "." and adding a bit of code to clear the filename combobox once the dialog is open.
BUT I can't figure how to clear the filename combobox. I've tried to add hook procedure, enumerate windows and clear text, but this didn't work for me. So, my question is: how can I clear text in the filename combobox of CFileDialog?
