C/C++ :: Recursion In Stack To Get Maximum Element And Copying Stacks
Nov 22, 2012
I am still new to stacks and recursion and am trying to implement two functions using recursion to get the maximum element in a stack and copying one stack into the other but it keeps repeating some elements and i dont understand why!!
this is the code for the functions:
void copyStack(MyStack &firstStack, MyStack &secondStack) {
if(!firstStack.empty()) {
string x=firstStack.top();
firstStack.pop();
//secondStack.push(x);

Any example of a graph search algorithm that uses a recursion and linked list based stacks to determine a route from a single point on a graph to another single point on a graph?

I want to convert the following program into a non-recursive code using a stack and a loop:
void write(int n) {
if (n>0) {
write(n-1);
cout << n << " ";
write(n-1);
}
}
And here is the code I am using but that currently does not work, and I do not know why:
stack<int> S;
S.push(n);
while (not S.empty()) {
int k = S.top();
[Code] .....
How to simulate that recursion. I thought it was enough to push into the stack the equivalent recursive call.

I designed one mfc vc++application in which data received from udp is stored in file as well as in stack.I used stl for stack; it stored elements as per receiving order,but i want to return repetitive number from stack,how to use stack as function parameter & retrieve elements of stack as an array? I write code for push elements in stack given below.
<template< typename T > void pushElements( T &stackRef,int value) {
stackRef.push( value);
}/>

I know that if the structure doesn't fit into the stack, it needs to be put onto the heap. But what is maximum size of a win32 stack in usual case?

I just started by defining a stack class (stackDouble). I need to write a program that accepts an infix calculator expression, with the following operators (**, exponentiation, /, division, and, -, subtraction. The operator precedence is exponent, division, and subtraction.I need to use a stack of doubles and a stack of strings, of which I can write two classes, or write a single stack template. The user will input the expression just via cin, and there will be a # before every number, a ! before each operator, and a . at the end of the expression. '#', '!', or '.' can be input into a char variable, numbers into a double variable and operators into a string variable.
For example, the following would output 6:
# 3 ! / # 2 ! / # .5 ! ** # 2 .
As stated above, I already made up a stackDouble class. What would I need to do to create the other class (I don't think I want to do it with a template)?
Code:
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
using namespace std;
class stackDouble{
[code]....

Given a set of different types of paired symbols; determine whether it is balanced or not (the opening and closing version of each type are paired correctly). Any other type of characters may appear in the input will be neglected.
For example:
(**(*[*])****) is balanced, also [{}**[]**()]** is balanced. But ((*{*)*}) is unbalanced as well as [()***[]***{*(*)}.
Write a C++ program that requires a string containing and expression as an input from the user and check for balanced bracket pairs using stack data structure.
Here is my code which give me nothing when I run it.
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
using namespace std;
class CustomStack {
[Code] ....

I have a global list that contains smaller lists of char arrays. I have an issue where when I'm reading back the inner lists the last element of one list seems to point to first element of the next.
So my data looks like the below (values separated by commas with the pairs separated by tabs. The last pair in a line is the same as the first). When I read the first list back instead of seeing "456.678,678.98" as the last element in the list. I see "435.67,234.98" twice: at the end of the first list and start of the other. I have debugged when the list is populated and can see the correct values going in so I can't figure what's happening.
456.678,678.98 123.45,345.56 256.67,789.98 456.678,678.98
435.67,234.98 123.65,342.56 987.78,678.34 435.67,234.98
Code to fill the list:
obstacle_list = op_prg_list_create();
while (fgets(line, sizeof(line), obstaclePositions_traj_file) ) {
token = strtok(line, "
"); //Pull the string apart into tokens using the
input = op_prg_list_create();
[Code] ....

I have an std list of type double.. and the list is always guaranteed to have just 2 elements. I need to get the value of element 2 minus element 1. What is the least amount of code to accomplish that?
I tried this:
Code:
list<double> dList;
dList.push_back(1.0);
dList.push_back(2.0);
list<double>::iterator iter = dList.begin();
list<double>::iterator iter2 = dList.end();
double result = *iter2 - *iter;
But this code does not work. Why not?

The question is to write a recursive boolean function that compares two stacks and returns true if they are identical. This is where I get stuck:
If the top items of both stacks are the same, the recursive call always returns true, because 'true' is saved on top of the return stack.
Here is my code:
template<class Type>
bool identicals(stackType<Type> s1, stackType<Type> s2) {
if(!s1.isEmptyStack() && !s2.isEmptyStack()) {
if(s1.top() != s2.top())

I'm doing a 1Mb memory dump like this:
Code:
for (int i = 0; i < 0x00100000; i++) {
dump[i] = *(chipmemory+i);
} // i
Then I save the 1Mb "dump" array to a file, and the file contains the data I expect.
The problem arises when I try to write data back to the array beginning at the "chipmemory" pointer:
Code:
unsigned char msga[18] = "SOME MODIFIED DATA";
int address = 172378;
for (int i = 0; i < 18; i++) {
*(chipmemory+address) = msga[i];
address++;
} // i
Is this the correct way to write back to an address 172378 bytes from the "chipmemory" pointer? or is my code broken somewhere else?

From: G:ExExF1
To: C:EXAll
I'm using Visual studio express C++ as the IDE. I have tried using this code:
bool copy_functions::CopyAll(string InPath,string OutPath) {
ifstream In(InPath.c_str(),ios::in|ios::binary);
ofstream Out(OutPath.c_str(),ios::out|ios::binary);
[Code] ....
But I always get booth could not be opened for copying messages even thug I use the absolute paths for the folders.

So I'm writing a function isPalindrome() that can accept a string as an argument, and copy from it only the alphabetic characters in the argument (original) string to another string named alpha_array which contains only the alphabetic characters. Then the function should be able to call the isPurePalindrome function to determine if alpha_array is an ordinary palindrome.
The problem is that when I call isPalindrome in main, the program crashes.
Here's the code I have for isPurePalindrome and isPalindrome:
Code:
/* 1 */
int isPurePalindrome( const char * sentence ) // Can accept strings, array and pointer arguments
{
// Declarations
