C++ :: Desktop Application To Utilize Camera And Scanners?
May 5, 2013I plan on creating a desktop application that utilizes external hardware such as cameras and scanners and captures pictures and scans for use within the application. Is using straight C++ the way to go, or would a mixture between C++ and C# be beneficial? (I heard they can be used in conjunction but is it more hassle than benefit?)
Is GUI development any better in one language over the other? I am hoping to be able to choose a language with less installation requirements for the end user.
I understand that certain requirements are placed on the end users computer depending on what you are developing with (I would be using Visual Studio 2012).

Oct 10, 2012I am trying to print a barcode form HClabel printer through my application running on Windows server 2008. The printer is a ntwork printer connected to a Windows 7 Machine.
The code to access the printer and proceed with printing is in VC++. The code has been working fine since years and it still works when I try to print from Windows XP machine(Connect and print on the same printer connected to WIndows 7 machine mentioned above).
The error code I receive when tried to print from windows server 2008 is 2 which says File not found. But when i access the machine from windows server 2008, it is accessible.
Below is the code I use:

Oct 15, 2014I'm in a CIS 143 class which is Introduction to Programming using C++. We've been assigned a lab with little to no detail on how to do the things listed.
The purpose of this lab is to practice the file input and output concepts. For this lab you may assume that the input files exist and contain appropriate data inside of them.
Four separate text files* which contain the following lines, different for each file.
(*: This isn't on the lab, but don't worry about what the name, age, id, and major are. those can be random and I can just change them what they need to be)
Name
Age
Student ID Number
Major
Your program should ask the user which of the four input files they would like to open, and then read the contents from the file. Once the contents have been read in, it should output to both the screen and a file named "output.txt" the four values were read in, arranged as follows:
"Hello <name>! You are a <age> years old <major> student, and your ID number is <ID number>"
Now I am by no means saying "Do it for me". I just need to know how to have a user type file1, file2, file3, or file4, and then have the program open that file, then have the output.txt file arrange the wording into the sentence above.

Jan 27, 2014I found a card shuffling function on a long dead thread.

I do not understand how numbers are not repeated in the function. It seems like it would be possible to get 2 cards with the same number with the above function.
I also am getting incorrect numbers. It seems like I should only get numbers between 1 and 52 (which is what I want). However, I am getting the number 0, and some number between 1 and 52 will be missing, but I will have a total of 52 unique numbers.
I played around with using 51 instead of 52, x > 1, and changed to --x and none of those produced the desired results.

If the answer is zero then it is a valid Visa card and if the answer is zero the answer is a valid MasterCard. My problem is that the I have not separated the validation for MasterCard separate from visa.

C++ :: Function To Randomly Determines Suit And Value Of A Card
Jul 19, 2013I'm writing a card game and I'm having trouble getting the first part of it right, which is picking out a random card from the deck and displaying it to screen. So it's supposed to display a different card every time i run the function in the program. The problem is, I keep getting the same output every time "Nine of Hearts".

Sep 19, 2013My specific request is for retrieving values that are stored to a CompactFlash card. I am able to store values (we call them recipes) to the CompactFlash card as .csv file. I just haven't been able to figure out the code to retrieve this information back to the touchscreen.

Apr 23, 2013I am struggling to finish up my game of War. There are a few problems I have ran in to. My shuffle function seems to work fine. I believe my problem lies within my game rules. When I run my code, the game usually plays all the way through but almost always ends in 'War'. I am struggling to get the game to restart after running once.
