C++ :: Junk Return On Passing Array From A Function

Apr 23, 2014

I passed an array from a function from a class and i am using the object of that class in other file but when i pass it the values of that array are coming ssome junk values (i think) i ll show u the usage :

// randomno.cpp : Defines the entry point for the console application.//

//#include "stdafx.h"
//#include<iostream>
#include<ctime>

Then I used it in my main file like this:

int* Q_Rand = &o_random_gen.generate();
o_SciTech.showQuestion(Q_Rand[i],main_quesfname);

The value of Q_Rand comes out to be some very large value sometimes negative sometimes positive (i.e a junk )....

C++ :: How To Pass Array To Function And Return It As Sorted Vector

Sep 17, 2014

How to pass my array to the function and return it as a sorted vector. I'm kind of lost with the functions part.

Problem: Write a program that performs a sorting routine as discussed in class. Create an array of 10 integers (e.g., 63, 42, 27, 111, 55, 14, 66, 9, 75, 87). Pass this array to a separate function that sorts the integers and returns a vector containing the sorted integers. Use either the SELECTIONSORT algorithm or the INSERTIONSORT.

Code so far:
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
#include <vector>
#include <cmath>
#include <cstdlib>
#include <ctime>
#include <iomanip>

C++ :: Write A Function That Return Maximum Value Of Array Of Doubles?

Oct 9, 2014

I'm trying to get correct answers from my exam to study for a midterm:

Write a function that returns the maximum value of an array of doubles.

Declaration:

double maximum(array[],int a_size);

So far I've done:

double maximum(array[], int a_size) {
double maxVal;
maxVal = array[0];
for(int i=1; i < size; i++) {
if(array[i] > max
maxVal=array[i]
}
return maxVal;
}

I just need any corrections.

Second, I need to write a function definition that merges two vectors containing integers, alternating elements from both vectors.

Prototype:

vector<int> merge(const vector<int> a, const vector<int> b);

This is my definition so far:

vector<int>merge(const vector<int> a, const vector<int> b){
vector<int> merged;
for(int i=0; i<a.size+b.size; i++) {
if(flag == true)
merged.push_back(a);
flag = false;
else
merged.push_back(b)
flag = true;}

I think I'm lost in the second part...

Apr 12, 2014

int main(void)
{int integer = 0, IntArr[1] = {0}, IntP = 0;

Why does the integer with array change after passing trough the function and the normal integer doesn't? (I know why the normal one doesn't, but I dont get the array one)

C :: Create Array Of Integer - Function Call In Main

Feb 2, 2015

I'm writing code to create an array of integer and let user input choice to display, replace, add new element, etc.I created a header file in the header file there's a function:

Code:

int display_one_element(int* array, int num_of_elements, int position) {
if(num_of_elements < position || position < 0) {
printf("Position out of bound.
");
return 1;
}
return array[position-1];
}

in main I write a function call:

Code:

display_one_element(array, *p_num_elements, position);

My code seems to work fine but there's an error message right next to my function call:
1.too many arguments provided to function like macro invocation
2.Expression result unused

I tried to move the function from header file to c source file. but other functions in the header file works fine and this doesn't work with the error message.

C/C++ :: Dividing Two Integers Will Return Integer Value?

Dec 2, 2014

So I have a simple calculator that does a few operations (+ - * / %) Pretty basic stuff

I declared int x, y for the numbers, char operation, and float result.

the code is based on switch(operation)

The program is running alright, but when I divide 8/7 it returns 1 as the result, I tried changing the x and y to float but that won't work because of the case '%'

I also tried making local float variables in the case'/' but it won't compile "E2126 Case bypasses initialization of a local variable"

How can I make the division work and return a float value?

C :: Write A Function That Finds Integer In Array And Returns Its Corresponding Index

Mar 20, 2013

I have an assignment which requires me to do the following:

Required to write a function that finds an integer in an array and returns its corresponding index. The function must be called findNumber. It must have FOUR parameters:

- The first parameter is the array to be searched
- The second parameter is the integer to be found within the array
- The third parameter is the size of the array
- The fourth parameter is an integer that indicates whether the array is sorted. A value of 1 means the array is sorted; a value of zero means the array is not sorted.

Since a function can only return one value(To return the position of a required integer in an array in this instance) I have tried to make use of pointers to try and return a value stating whether the array is sorted or not.This is my code : (It compiles perfectly but it does not produce any outputs)

Code:

#include <stdio.h>
#define SIZE 10
size_t findNumber(int *sort, const int array[],int key,size_t size);
int main(void){
int a[SIZE];
size_t x;

C :: Warning - Return Makes Pointer From Integer Without A Cast

Sep 21, 2013

I have a function that I want to exit gracefully when an "error" occurs in an input file. My function declaration is:

Code: BSTnode *buildTree(FILE *fp)

The few lines that are causing the problems are:

Code: if(regcomp(®ex, to_find, REG_EXTENDED | REG_NEWLINE) != 0) {
fprintf(stderr, "Failed to compile regex '%s'
", to_find);
return EXIT_FAILURE;
}

I know that if I just use "return" by itself the warning goes away but fails to exit when the error occurs. I also believe this may not be the correct use of stderr. But I need the program to exit when an error has occurred.

C++ :: Pass 2 Arrays Into Void Function And Return Values To One Function?

Feb 12, 2014

I'm trying to pass 2 arrays into a void funtion, and return values to one function.

this is the the program I'm working with, after I'm done I have to split it into 3 files, a header, a main, and a separate cpp file for the functions to live in.

#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
void processArrary(int numberCount[], int Numbers[], int intnumberSize, int numberCountSize);
int main() {
int Scores[26] = {76, 89, 150, 135, 200, 76, 12, 100, 150, 28, 178, 189, 167, 200, 175, 150, 87, 99, 129, 149, 176, 200, 87, 35, 157, 189};
int numberCount[8] = { 0 };

[code]...

The goal of this program is to separate and count the groups of numbers then output the amount of numbers in each group. Near as I can tell, everthing should work, but I'm getting all zeros to be displayed in each group.
