C/C++ :: How To Read And Analyze Code
Jan 21, 2014
Am I doing this correctly? My assignment is pretty much to answer certain codes manually.
int i = 0;
while (i < 7 )
{
cout << 2 * i;
++i;
}
Does this code read as
2 * 0 = 0
2 * 1 = 2
2 * 3 = 6
2 * 4 = 8
2 * 5 = 10
2 * 6 = 12
How about the ++i part?

I would like to write a program that can analyze png files to assess whether they have any rotational symmetry.
I am aware that opencv can be used to do certain image recognition tasks, would it be appropriate for what i'm trying to do?
This program must work in linux.

I have to analyze and elaborate datas from particle energy measurements. I have a file txt like this

The first two numbers are the Particle ID and its Energy, the rest of numbers are the loss of energy(different in number for every particle).
I have to elaborate 1000 events like this and to create a function able to read every line and to count the number of the loss energy measurement.
I use ifstream to read a file text, but my problem is: my program how to understand that it's passing to the new line? I have to divided every events in Arrays of different length, so i have to count each data for every particle and then create the array.
The instruction EOF it's not good...

I would like to create program which will analyse bitmap so would need good concept to save data. I am interested about the theory and I realize that i must to think this carefully because bad concept could create insufficient memory or inefficient program. Basically I want my program work with HSV or HSL model so I would need to convert the bitmap to HSL, but I am not sure if I should convert it first and then analyse all pixels or should I start to analyse the bitmap and make the conversion to HSL during it. But my main question is what method to choose to save the data in memory.
Even that I would start with very small, it should work also with bigger image like image having 1200 or even 4200 px on height. So the program should first analyse all columns of pixels in the image so for example 1200x800 px image has 1200 columns. So I would like to know if is it possible to create such object which would have such structure like this
Obj->basicColumnData->black->columns[name]->group
and in the place of columns should be placed data for every column. I would look for groups of pixels in the column, so in the result the column x could bear e.g. 500 groups of information and every group should contain the range of pixels e.g. group 1 should contain y value from 0 to 20, group 2 should contain value from 25-27 and so on. So I would create 1200 columns bear many of groups. This would be contained in "black" or "white" member to contain the data. This is just simplified idea, but the whole object should contain next data not just basicColumnData... So there should be another members bearing information calculated from the selected data.
So my question is what kind of method of saving data use for this? Should I use heap and dynamic allocated memory or should I create custom class, which will define every member, but these members will have to be dynamic memory? With the dynamic memory is there problem that there could be not enough memory to create such big object?

So the premise of my code is to read in a 2d array from a .txt. The array is a game board but the first two lines are what determine the size of the board. After i read it in i want it to find wherever te character "U" is, and then display the array but only showing U and whats around it. Problem is i cant get the array to print the right size and the code for displaying the U is not working either.
ifstream inputFile;
int boardSizeRow;
int boardSizeCol;
inputFile.open("C:UsersMichaelDesktopfileboard2.txt");
inputFile >> boardSizeRow;
inputFile >> boardSizeCol;
inputFile.get();

I am trying to use struct to store variables from a text file and use them in the main program. I have first tried running the program without using struct and declaring the variables within the main program and it runs fine. But after using struct, it gives no compilation error and a segmentation fault as output. Also, if the size of file/variable size is unknown can I declare variables as char string[]??
The code is as below:
Code:
#include<stdio.h>
struct test {
char string1[10000];

I've got some code in C++ that does some basic analysis on price data and I run it from the cmd prompt. One of the functions I had built to read in the data is as follows:
void ReadPricesFromFile(constchar*filename,std::vector<PriceInfo>&prices)
{std::ifstreaminput(filename);
input>>prices;}
How would one merge this type of code into a Qt GUI? Ideally, I'd like to use something like QFileDialog to open up a folder with my data files, select a file, and then read the file that the user selects. Would the main.cpp look something like this?
int main (int argc, char *argv []) {
QApplication prog (argc, argv);
QPushButton *load_button = new QPushbutton ("Load File");
QObject:: connect (load_button, SIGNAL (clicked()), &prog, SLOT ( (ReadPricesfromFile function?);
load_button-> show ();
return prog.exec ();}

I am trying to read data from more than one file at once. The files are different types e.g. one is a text file one is an xml file like so, StudentInformation.txt, CollegeInformation.xml. The files are all stored in one place, in this case on the D drive of a local computer. I am trying to locate any files in the D drive with a file extension of .txt or of .xml (there may be more than two of these files in the future, so I'm trying to allow for that). Then I want to open all of these files, extract the information and output all the information in one display window. I want all the information from these two or more files to be displayed together in the display window.
Here is the code so far. It is throwing up errors.
//Load from txt files
private void btnLoad_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
{
IEnumerable<string> fileContents = Directory.EnumerateFiles("D:\", "*.*", SearchOption.TopDirectoryOnly)
.Select(x => new FileInfo(x))
.Where(x => x.Extension == ".xml" || x.Extension == ".txt")
.Select(file => ParseFile(file));}
[Code] ....
The error it throws up is:
Error 1 'BookList.Mainwindow.ParseFile(System.IO.FileInfo)': not all code paths return a value

I have to write a c++ program to read html code and do bunch of stuff. One thing that i have to do is to count the no of attributes and sort them in descenting out and print out only first 10 frequently used attributes. I counted them using maps and sorted them using multimaps but now dnt knw how to print only 10 elements
for(std::map<string, int>::iterator it = Element.begin(); it != Element.end(); ++it)
Elements.insert(pair<int, string>(it->second, it->first));
for(std::multimap<int, string>::reverse_iterator it = Elements.rbegin(); it != Elements.rend(); ++it) {
cout << "Element: " << it->second << " : " << it->first << endl;
}
This is how i did it . How to display only 10 elements and not all the elements.

I have a class 'A' which is almost perfect for my needs. Class 'B' uses class 'A' I've now designed Class 'C' and Class 'D' and noticed that there is a good chunk of code in class 'B', 'C' and 'D' for using Class 'A' is duplicated. I've separated out this code in specific, standalone functions in each of the classes. Now I'm wondering where this code should go. At the moment, the functions are duplicated in the three calling classes (B, C and D). Placing the functions into class 'A' would break the single responsibility principle. Inheritance to add functionality would likely break both SRP and LSP. The one that seems that it may work is composition.
However, Is designing a complete class just for a few functions over kill?
Would it be valid for classes 'B', 'C' and 'D' to access both the new class 'E' (which would depend on A) and the old class 'A' (which would have to be the same instance as the instance in the new class 'E'), or should the new class 'E' provide sufficient functionality so that Classes B, C and D don't need to access Class A directly? It would seem that its then an incomplete interface of the original object with additional functionality (ie, incompatible) Or should I do it a completely different way?

I want to read the contents of a file block (512 bytes) by block using low I/O read statements. Each record is 64 bytes long and has a pre-defined structure. The first 4 bytes are an unsigned integer; the next 20 bytes are ascii text, etc.
I have a buffer which I can access with buf[0] to buf[63] to read the first record and then buf[64] to buf[127] for the second, etc. However, I was wondering how to map a record so that I can refer to an integer as an integer and a float as float, etc. I can't create a struct and move the 64 bytes to it, as I will have alllignment/padding problems.
What is the standard way to deal with records in C?

I'm pretty new to C++ and I'm on Binary Trees in "Jumping into C++"! I've just created a DLL project on Code::Blocks, and I cannot get it to build and run: "You must select a host application to "run" a library..." is the message that I'm getting when I run the main code file. It's had no changes to it (except for a few extra, unnecessary line feeds), and it's the file which Code::Blocks generates on a DLL project.

whats wrong with this code, I'm trying to parse a .js file and replace all the ";" with "; " i.e add a new line after each ";". So I load the file into a char[] buffer then assign a string to this contents of this buffer. Then loop char by char through using an iterator and check for a ";", if found use replace. So int i gets to about 85898 then crashes with unknown error, 'i' should reach about 175653. It does work up till it crashes. And, is this not a simpler way to load a file into a buffer, there is in C.
Code:
#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <algorithm>
#include <vector>
#include <stdlib.h>
int main()

I have a function that needs to return a "uint8_t" value. However before doing the processing I need to perform a test on the argument to check if it's between expected boundaries. Although this function works it gives (a logical) warning that not always a value is returned although expected. What is the normal way for functions like these where I normally should return e.g. -1 in case the test doesn't succeed and otherwise the uint8_t (t) value?
Code:
uint8_t myFunc(int a) {
if (a >= 0 && a <= 100) {
// Perform actions
uint8_t = ...
return t;
}
}
