C/C++ :: Get Fstream / Ostream / Ifstream To Save Ints Then Load Them

I have been trying to figure this out for a text based game. Lets say your money is 500. Then you save your game, but when you start the game the starting is 50, so when you load it, you still have 500 money, I tried lots of test, and im having trouble?

Ive used a similar approach to extract data from a txt file before, however now it seems to crash when i get to the load, below is the code with a NOTE next to where it crashes. This is homework so no code but just information on why it was working for one dataset but not his new one.

C++ :: Battle Simulator - Save / Load Functions Not Working

I've been working on a battle simulator, and using it as a learning experience. So far, I've been able to debug the program, and learn some stuff, and it's been running smoothly. It's still runnable, but I've been trying to make it so the player can save his character, and continue the game later. However, I'm not sure whether it's the save or load function that's not working, because even if i save to a txt file, it's just a bunch of random characters. I don't know if that means it's not saving correctly, or if it's just supposed to be like that. Anyway, here are the two functions I'm speaking of:

C/C++ :: Converting String Of Ints To A Vector Of Ints?

I am getting a string from the consle and that all works fine. I'm expecting a string of number, ie 123456.... I store that fine in my string object. I then need to take each individual number, ie 1, and put it in a vector then take the next number, ie 2, and put that in the next element in my vector.

Everything i've found and does eaither takes the entire string and stores it as an int, or takes the ascii representation of the number and stores that. How do I seperate each individual number and store them seperatly. below is a few different variations i've tried that doesn't produce my desired results.

the only thing i havn't tried yet is string streams and i don't necessarly like using them. Am i going to have to go that route? will that even work?

EDIT:I forgot to mention that this is being done on linux and then ported to unix.

C# :: Save Image In Layers And Then Load Layers Separately

I am programming an application in c# that allows the user to edit images. The user can use a Pen to write on the image, and the user can also use a highlighter (a big semi-transparent Pen) to highlight what they've written. I need the user to be able to erase only the highlighting without erasing the pen drawings.

My solution was to have the user draw on one graphics window when the pen is selected and draw on the other graphics window when the highlighter is selected. I will then enable the eraser on either graphics window depending on what the user wants to erase.

My program will let the user save the image and then load it into the program again for later editing. When I save the image, I have to compress the layers (different graphics windows) into one bitmap. When I load the bitmap back into my application, I lose my layers and cannot erase just the highlighting without also erasing the pen as well.

How can I save an image file with layers, and then recover the layers when my program starts up again?

I am not opposed to saving two images - one with the pen graphics window and the other with the highlighting. If I do that, how can I merge the two images into one layer when I load the images back into my program?

I have a class called Point that has functions for getting and setting x, y, and z coords., distance, and midpoint. I need to write a function that prints the class and must use ostream & displayPoint( ostream & ); as the prototype. I did some googling and came up with

I am trying to develop a GUI using MFC, but I am having trouble using CFiledialog to save a file. The problem is, the file is not getting saved to the folder when I use the CFiledialog. Below is the code I am using.

I have some paper work to do about a game I should be able to play with my class mates. We should be able to send and recive a struct concerning about the 'moves' of the pieces at the game. This struct is made of 4 ints, simple as that.

I had a previous paper work to do where I'd have to send ints and that was ok, but now that I have to send a struct I'm failing to do so. This is What I've tried:

So far so good, I see 16 as bytes_sent's value.

I am currently working on a C++ program for school. I am actually not finding too much difficulty in constructing the functions, enum-types, arrays and structs, however, I am finding great difficulty in using on ifstream variable to open multiple files.

I have posted the entire code that I have so far (even though I have pinpointed the issue to not properly opening the second file in ifstream).

I spent a couple of hours getting rid of certain functions/procedures, loops and variables and I get the same output (if what I removed doesnt crash it). I also get the same output whether I "open" the second file or not (meaning I removed all of the code for it and got the same output).

Here is the code (it's not finished because I am stuck on this file issue). It's a bit messy since I am now in debug mode versus program mode:

I want to create a function with a return type. However, I want to use it to read from a file (ifstream) and produce multiple different types of return types. The different file types returned would be always in the same order. For example

Text File:
Name
1
12
30
Area

I want to ifstream line 1 (Name) to an array of characters.
line 2, 3, and 4 to integers.
and line 5 as a string.

The basic problem is that if I make a function with one return type, it would only return one type of data to my int main(). I suppose I could create multiple functions that would run this for different variable types and destroy the invalid types. But this seems inefficient. It is being used to load in data from a previously saved file.

So far..

I was thinking I could possibly do something with a counter to count the lines and assign a value based on their order. The problem is with the 1 return value of a function. Maybe there is another operation I could use?

C++ :: Ifstream Doesn't Read From The File

I wrote a program which was supposed to decrypt a file encrypted with the XECryption algorithm. Now, I know the decryption algorithm, but I have a problem with my ifstream object. It doesn't read anything at all, and the ofstream object just outputs a single random byte in a never ending loop. I've tried using cin, which works correctly, but it's not what I want.

Here's the code:
