C/C++ :: Columns In Fstream Data Reading Zero (Array Of Payroll Objects)

Basically for homework, we gotta make an array of payroll objects, using the general format I've made below...
I'm having trouble. The .dat file we are given to test looks like this:
40.0 10.00
38.5 9.50
16.0 7.50
42.5 8.25
22.5 9.50
40.0 8.00
38.0 8.00
40.0 9.00
44.0 11.75
When I execute the program, it shows the first column of objects, but will always replace the 2nd column values with a 0.
It's definitely NOT reading that column, and using the constructor to set it to zero. I don't know why it's not reading that column though...
(TL;DR.... Currently it reads "Employee #1: 40, 0" rather than "Employee #1: 40, 10.00"... etc)

Define a PayRoll class that has data members for an employee's hourly pay rate (an integer , representing cents) and number of hours worked (also an integer ). The class provides two member functions, setRate and setHours that assign the value of their parameter to the appropriate data member. The class provides a third member function, getPay, that returns weekly gross pay (in cents), computed as follows: hours times rate for the first 35 hours plus hours times rate times one and a half for any hours past 35.

I am attempting to read values from a file into a 2d array temp[31][2] (31 rows, 3 columns).I only want the values from the file to be read into the first two columns.I believe I am accomplishing that but when I go to print the array, I expect the first two columns to have the file data and the third column to have all zeros. The third column, however is printing such that the value is the next row/first column.
I'm not sure for instance why on the bottom loop for line 1 it doesn't print:
temp[0][0] temp[0][1] temp[0][2] 20 49 0 It instead prints: 20 49 1

So I have a small program which is supposed to write and read multiple objects from a file, but for some reason it doesn't write the information when I use "fstream" to create the object from the fstream class, but it does when I use "ofstream". Also, it doesn't read the information from the file no matter if I use "fstream" or "ifstream". I watched a video where this exact code worked just fine, but it just won't work when I run it. I'm using Dev C++ 4.9.9.2, I don't know if that has anything to do with it, I also tried it with Code::Blocks, didn't work either.

I have a file of data where each line consists of 4 parameters (degree, alpha, beta and x) and a value corresponding to these, organized in increasing order of the parameters. Here's the test file I'm using:
0 1 1 0.5 3.5
1 1 1 -0.5 -0.5
1 2 0 0.2 4.5
1 3 0 0.2 -4.5
2 0 0 1.5 2.1
2 1 0 0 5.6
My code is supposed to look for a certain set of parameters (currently set to 1 2 1 1.5, which is not contained in the file) and its value. If it's there (i.e. the file contains the value for the right parameters) the program is done. If not it should calculate the value using a function JacobiPoly() and insert the wanted parameters and corresponding value in the appropriate place in the file.
I have a code in which I think everything works except the writing to file. I use an fstream so I can both read and write and open it with ios::out||ios::in. I'm also aware I need something similar to fseek in between input and output but according to [URL] .... reading and writing to the same file using the same fstream, seekp() should suffice. I'm using seekp(), but the output (in the form inout << (...)) doesn't work.

I would like to copy one bmp file to another using plain fstream (none 3-rd party library). I've managed to come up with something but I keep getting error:
Unhandled exception at 0x504A3442 (msvcr120d.dll) in ConsoleApplication1.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00380000.
when i try to write the content of the bmp files not the header, namely error occurs in this line:

Also i am not sure if i am doing it in a right way, meaning that even after solving this error i will copy the bmp file successfully.

Ive used a similar approach to extract data from a txt file before, however now it seems to crash when i get to the load, below is the code with a NOTE next to where it crashes. This is homework so no code but just information on why it was working for one dataset but not his new one.

I'm working on a program which creates data and saves it into blocks (different files), then reloads and converts it all. the .ftl file saves properly, but for some unknown reason, it won't let me open it for input after.
Here's the significant code:

setblock will typically = 3, but for testing purposes is set to 1. this really has me confused. the compiler i'm using is Dev-C++ 5.2.0.1 on xp. i have tried pausing the program after the output file is closed, confirming the file has been created in the proper directory before continuing but still fails the .is_open() check.

I have a file that can range from 100 rows to 10000+ that is comma delimited with 8 columns. The first 32 rows (also comma delimited) will always be ignored (geographical header information). I will be wanting the data from column2 and column3.
For this I believe I would need (2) For Loops as such:
for(i=0;i<2;++i) {
getline("do something here");
}
and
for (i=0;i<3;++i) {
getline("do something here")
}
Also would using a vector or array with dynamic storage be the better way to tackle this problem? Where to start from after accessing the file.

I'm having issues reading to a 2d array from a file. When I try to read the data from my file into my matrix variable it simply doesn't read anything and leaves the variable unmodified. I've tried just reading the first piece of data in the main function and it doesn't work there either. I'm really perplexed at this point since I've never had an issue reading from a file before. It's supposed to split it up into name, ID number, major, year, and email. The file reads it without any errors, and assigns name to the first part of the structure. However, ID gets assigned the ID, major, year, and email. Then Major gets assigned major, year, and email. Year gets assigned year and email, while email just gets assigned email. I don't know if it has something to do with the loop. For example, this is what I get what I print just the name and the ID.

I have managed to successfully extracted the BMP file header and file info but ran into troubles with getting the pixel data out into a 2d array.This is my function to read the data while i have another to write the data. The output does not match the input at all.

I am trying to make a table class that will be able to have multiple columns of data. I want it to have something to hold data (I was using a 2D vector for only one data type) in it, somewhat like a pair, but for any number of data types. The class is a template to make it generalized.
I have looked a little at variadic templates, but I don't know how to declare the vectors for each data types then.

I am using the code below to write a single instance of object "Employee" to a file in Binary mode. The write part seems to work fine, however when I try to read the single employee object from the file into memory I get a double free or corruption error.
I think this has to do with the fact that I am using a string data member in the Employee class but I don't understand what is going wrong. I have read that strings can vary in length and use dynamic memory allocation but if I write a single employee object to a file with data member 'name' equal to "John", it should be the exact same size when I read it back in right?
The code below works with no issues when I omit the string data member. Why is that? Where is the memory for the string object being "double released" when I read the employee object back into memory from the file?
I am using Linux Mint 15, Eclipse June and GCC 4.7.3 with the -std=c++11 option.
