C++ :: Average Calculation Function Not Working As Expected To

My calculation function will not work like i wanted it to. It gives me 0 or a crazy number.

this is the function here:
the entire code is on the link:

double calculations(data&avgs) //Calculates the students grade into a final grade
{
int avg1;

C/C++ :: Do While Loop And Average Calculation

Dec 9, 2014

I need to create average calculating program using do while loop.

t = 1 - sin(x) when x > 0;
t = 1 + x when x = 0;
t = a + sin(x) when x < 0;
primary information:
x changes from 1 to -1 by step h = -0.5, a = -2

#include <iostream>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <math.h>
using namespace std;
int main() {
int a = -2;

[Code] ....

How this program should look that's why this probably looks just like a mess.

C++ :: Name Resolution Not Working As Expected

Apr 23, 2013

I have a global var (m) with an initial value 5.

I have a template class (A) that derives from a either a base class that has a member (_A1.m) or not (_A0), based upon it's template parameter. class (A) has a member function (fn) returns the value of (m) as it understands what (m) is.

However, this gives different results compared with a non-template class in a similar scenario. I'm expecting that if derived from _A1, that m should be taken from the base class scope and if derived from _A0, it should be taken from the global one.

Here is the code for your amusement:

int m = 5;
class _A0 {
public:
_A0(int) {

[Code] ....

This compiled using g++ 4.5.3 and 4.6.3 with the same results:
Global value of m is: 5
B0 class has no internal m member. Object resolves m internally with value 5
B1 class has internal m member. Object resolves m internally with value 3
A<_A0> class has no internal m member. Object resolves m internally with value 5
A<_A1> class has internal m member. Object resolves m internally with value 5

Visual C++ :: OnSize Handler Not Working As Expected

Nov 6, 2013

I keep having problems with CMFCPropertySheets. I now have it embedded in a resizable dialog and the property sheet and page gets resized when dialog is resized all that is working fine.

Problem is OnSize is being called when the dialog is being resized NOT when it has finished resizing so the values reported in cx and cy is the old size not the size AFTER resizing. What could be causing this? Isn't OnSize call AFTER the size has been changed and OnSizing called WHILE the size is being changed?

I have a list control that needs to take up full rect in each page and when the dialog is maximized it stays at previous size even though the sheet and page have both maximized as they should.

I ran a trace on the OnSize even for both the sheet and page and OnSize is being called during the sizing and not after it has already been sized like it is supposed to.

C++ :: Working With Strings / Files And Time-tag Calculation

Dec 27, 2012

I'm trying to calculate a series of times from start to end, and find out the duration between them, sum them up and see if they're above a certain value or not, for each particular instance.

My goal is to provide a prepared text file with time tags such as this:

Mon 19-Nov-2012 09:12 Mon 19-Nov-2012 09:34
Wed 21-Nov-2012 13:14Wed 21-Nov-2012 17:11
Fri 07-Dec-2012 15:21Fri 07-Dec-2012 15:26
=============================================
Mon 26-Nov-2012 12:50Tue 27-Nov-2012 15:29
Wed 12-Dec-2012 13:07Wed 12-Dec-2012 14:58
Fri 14-Dec-2012 14:22Fri 14-Dec-2012 14:29

And the program is able to calculate the total time relevant to each instance (instances separated by a line of '=').

Some form of number should somehow identify each instance or something similar and a text file is generated with total time printed for each instance. E.g.

Instance 1: 00h22m + 03h57m + 00h05m = 04h24m
Instance 2: 04h15m + 07h44m + 01h51m + 00h07m = 14h04m

Now I'm currently working on making the logic to calculate time within the ranges I'd like based on several parameters.

Are there any references I can use when it comes to working with strings in order to seek and extract these values in order to work with them? The documentation available on this website, despite being very informative, does not show practical applications of said class and I'm at a loss on how to implement the functionality.

C :: Simple Calculation - Function To Do Factorization

Feb 8, 2014

I wrote a function to do factorization (n!). while this function works perfectly:

Code:
int fact (double x){
register int z=1;
if (x==0)
return 1;
else
for(x;x;x--)
z*=x;
return z;
}

this doesn't:

Code:
int fact (double x){
if (x==0)
return 1;
else
for(x;x;x--)
x*=x;
return x;
}

what makes the second one different from the first one? can't see the difference..

C :: Print Correct Normalized Value / Average And Values Above Average

Nov 14, 2013

I must write a function that has a one dimensional double array and the number of values in the array as its arguments. Normalize the values. I must also print the maximum, minimum, average and numbers of values above the average in the array.

The equation that computes the normalized value from a value x is:

Normalized x= (x-min(array))/(max(array)-min(array))

My code does not print the correct normalized value, average and values above average.

Code:
#include <stdio.h>
int findMax( double array1[], int num_elements) // This function computes the maximum value of the array
{
int i, max=-32000;
for (i=0; i<num_elements; i++)

C++ :: Average Negative / Positive Numbers And Total Average?

Nov 18, 2013

I am trying to average the negative numbers and positive number and of course the total average.

This will read in a list of n values, where n is not known ahead of time. The number of values read into the array will be saved in n.

vector<int> readList() {
std::vector<int> result;
ifstream inFile;
inFile.open("setA.txt");
for (int x; inFile >> x; ) {
result.push_back(x);

[code]....

array is a one-dimensional array of integers and n is the number of elements in that array that contain valid data values. Both of these are input parameters to the function. The function must calculate 1) the average of the n integers in array, storing the result in ave; 2) the average of the positive numbers (> 0), storing the result in avePos, and 3) the average of the negative numbers (< 0), storing the result in aveNeg.

void avgs (std::vector &array, int &ave, int &avePos, int &aveNeg) {
int sum = 0, pos_sum = 0, neg_sum = 0, pos_count = 0, neg_count = 0;
for (auto i : array) {
sum += i;
if (i > 0) { pos_sum += i; ++pos_count; }

C++ :: Calling Another Function Within A Function Not Working

Feb 20, 2013

I have two functions bool check_key(string cKey, string eKey) and bool check_digit(char digit1, char digit2), and I have declared both of them globally (is this the right terminology?) right after the "using namespace std;" and right before the "int main(){".

In the first one, I called the second one . But it is giving me the error: "no match for call to `(std::string) (int&)' ".

Code:
bool check_key(string cKey, string eKey) {
if(cKey!="" && eKey=="") return false;
if(cKey=="" && eKey=="") return true;
if(cKey=="" && eKey!="") return true;

C++ ::  Class Safe Array Type Print Function Not Working When Called

Oct 22, 2013

I've created a function where you can choose any bounds for an array based list (positive or negative, as long as the first position is smaller than the last position). However for some reason when I call the print() function in my application program it doesn't do anything. My print function is technically correct (I still have work to do on the output) but I can't figure out why it wont show anything at all. Below is my header, implementation, and main program files, along with results from running the program.

Header File:

//safearrayType Header File
class safeArrayType {

void print() const;
void insertAt(int location, const int& insertItem);
safeArrayType(int firstPlace=0, int maxPlace = 100);

Enter the last bound of yourlist: 7(this was my input)
