View 1 RepliesI'm having a problem with the two while statements in my UDF.
- 1. It will run both while loops twice...?
- 2. It now goes into a continuous loop.
- 3. When it did work, it would only return 1 value to the main()...?
#include <iostream> // for use of "cin" & "cout", endl...
#include <iomanip> // for formatting setw function
#include <cmath> // for the general math computations
#include <string> // for creating descriptive strings
#include <sstream> // used to convert a string to an integer
//user defined function
int userValue (int);

i need to prompt the user of my program to input numbers into an array so that later on these numbers can be added or subtracted with other numbers to form a new array. My problem is I don't know how to make the user input numbers which will then be saved into the array for later use. Here is the parts of my code that relate to the problem:
Code:
float Xv, Yv, Zv, Xu, Yu, Zu ;
float vector1[VECTOR_LENGTH] = {Xv, Yv, Zv} ;
scanf("%1f %1f %1f", &Xv, &Yv, &Zv);
printf("The first element in the array vector1 is: %3f
", vector1[0]);
The point of that printf function is to see if what they have entered is actually registering as what i want it to. This does not work however and the value for this always comes up as 0.
how to scan numbers into an array so that they can be used for later use?
I want to write a program to read in 15 integers from the user, and then store them in a 5x3 array, and print out the numbers as a 3x5 array.

so im trying to read in the name of a vendor into an array of structures. and write the name into a file.

I am trying to read the information from a .bmp file into my program while dynamically allocating memory for all of it. So I defined the structures for the headers and for a pixel, and then I have to read each pixel into a multi-dimensional array of pixels. I am completely new to structures, and definitely new to pointers combined with structures. I will have to use a filter with the information later, but right now I just want to read everything in correctly. The array of pixels will be two-dimensional -- the width by the height of the image, I guess.
Here's my code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <string.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
int main(int argc, char *argv[]) {
FILE *inFile, *outFile;
typedef struct
[Code] ....
I am trying to read from a data file that has input as :
12.0, 11, 123
14.0, 12.1, 3
And I want the program to read the data from the file and then make it into an array of structures and then print that array afterwards.
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#define MAX_INPUT 1000
int n =0;
int i = 0;
typedef struct {
double x[MAX_INPUT];
[Code] .....
The program when run gives the following output:
Ishtiaque-Mohammed-Khans-MacBook-Pro:Comp20005 IshtiaqueMKhan$ gcc -Wall -ansi -o ProjectB ProjectB.c
ProjectB.c: In function "main":
ProjectB.c:59: error: incompatible type for argument 1 of "print_array"
i want to add a prompt at the start of my program which ask a user to enter its password wat will be its syntax it is confusing me alot i have written this code but its gving me a problem
int security(char *num)

char pass[10];
ifstream file("pass.txt", ios::in);

I have to create a program that incorporates an array of structures in order to simply read input from the user and then reprint that information to the screen. This is a fairly simple problem, but the issue is that the professor requires that we solve it in a very specific way.
I must have three functions in total: one to receive input from the user, one to print the received values, and of course the main function which calls the other two. Also, the input and output functions must be defined using the following prototypes:
void inputData(Component C1);
void printData(Component *C1);
Where Component is a structure defined above as:
typedef struct// Component {
float cost;
int code;
char name[30];
[Code] ....
I know that this problem could be easily solved by simply passing the entire 'comp' array to the inputData function, or passing a pointer to it, or having it return a pointer, but I am not allowed to do any of these things. I must use the function as defined by the prototype.
I am looking to make a program for C++ that has a GUI other than command prompt. The program I am trying to create will ask certain questions and display the results at the end after all questions are asked and have 2 copies of the results one over the other that can be printed as a receipt. Basically I am wondering can I do this using C++. Also I want another GUI other than command prompt as well. Something close to what windows uses if possible.

How can I send information and receive from external command prompt from my program??. I want to run an external command prompt, a code that's is not mine, to send information to this command prompt, then make my program hit enter at the command prompt and then receive back information from the command prompt.

I have written a program that only reads and prints the data. I am trying to test if it works fine or not. I always comment an unnecessary code but still it wont compile. Now whats wrong with this program?

Write a program that accepts three values (int) from the keyboard into three variables a, b and c. After loading the variables, your program will arrange the values into a, b, and c, so that a contains the larger, be the next and c the smallest.
You can use any other variables in addition to a, b c, as you see fit.
You will have to use some variation(s) of the if construct.
There are many ways to program this, but your challenge will be to achieve this without doing all possible comparisons. In fact, three comparisons woudl be enough, if you , for example, determine the largest number first, and keep track of its position in some way , so you can compare the other two.
I think I might use a code similar to the one below.
switch (expression) {
case constant1:
group of statements 1;
break;
case constant2:

is there any way to have the program control go some two paths at once? For example: if my program has two functions, one that does some simple calculation that requires nothing from outside it to set the variables and another that displays text for the user to read then enter something. Is there any way to have both run at the same time?
simpleFnc()
{int a = 1;
int b = 2 ;
int c = a+b ;
[code]....
There is no connection of simplefnc to anywhere else in the program so is there any way to get it to run at the same time the other function is running?
I am having trouble understanding what I need to do to halt the flow of a program until a video file finishes playing. So far I have accomplished getting the video to play, but the program continues while the video is playing rendering the content of the program on top of the video making it not seen.
My goal is to make the video play, then once it has finished the rest of the program should run.
So far I have this in the start up area of my code:
//Initialize components for DirectShow to stream a video at start-up
CoInitialize(NULL);
//creates filter graph manager
[Code].....
After this code runs once, the program proceeds immediately into the loop where my update and render functions for the program runs. Preferably, I want to stop just the render function while allowing the update to continue to check if the user presses a key to skip the video. What do I need to add to the code to do this?
I have researched quite extensively, experimented, and still cannot seem to change the properties of a control on an active winform from a user control.
So I have a user control which populates each dynamically added tab page in a tab control.
I have a textbox in the user control which I would like to type in, capture the text_change event, and change the text of the label in the winform.
How do I bind a DATE column in a DataGridView Control to a DatePicker control (using C#)? I already have the DataGridView control bound to a database stored procedure which takes a DATE value as a parameter and selects joining table based on the results.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a program that stores health information the user inputs, one person at a time. The program works perfectly with the exception of storing the data...I need to open a file and read what health data it has in it already, if any, but store the new changes, and appended data to the array of structures, to the data in memory. All of the information is only saved back in the file once the program terminates. I'm not sure how to go about doing this, so I am also not sure what to put in the function for "Save and Exit" that the user can choose in order to exit the program.
Code:
