C :: Word Search Program - Filling 2D Array

I am currently working on writing a word search program. However, I am stuck on reading the used input into the 2-D array. The code I've posted below is only dealing with the user input (I'll work on the word search part once I know i am correctly reading in the user input). I know the coding is bad practice with the use of hexadecimal, and getchar() ect. But I am currently using a microblaze microprocessor and this is just the way microblaze can interpret the information. As for the infinite while loops...that can be changed just trying to figure out how.

My question is how could I change my code to correctly read in the user input into the 2-D array?

I am writing a program that determines how many times a word is repeated in a file without a main function. I almost have it correct but it doesn't exit after it finds how many of the last word and it just loops.

Here is my coding

there is also two more lines from a different txt file i just havn't coded them yet.

the main function that is used to test it is as follows

cout << count_the_word("raj.txt", "case") << endl;

it works like its supposed to but like i earlier mentioned it outputs another number after it finds how many "case" are in the file and then it loops asking for a filename.

Been trying for a while now to complete a physics degree first year computing task I've been assigned, which is to create a wordsearch solver to read to an array a wordsearch from a .txt file and find words in all directions (x+,x-y+ etc.).

I have a feeling the program is almost complete, but will stop looking for the word once the first character of the word has already come up. For example, if I'm searching for computer, and a c exists in an array element before it, the program will stop searching. I have included my code and the wordsearch file beneath.

i've been trying to figure out to search for a word in a text file and then display everything in the same row as the word found int ie this is whats in the file

The array is not filled incorrectly for some reason, more specifically the first row.The first two cycles of the for loop seem to work correctly. One if the bugs seems to occur on the third. when array[0][2] is filled with number 7, for some reason array[1][0] changes it value to 7 as well.

Assuming that we have :

What is the complexity? I believe O(n) and not O(n^2) on this case because if you have 3*3 size you would put 9 elements (from 9 elements input of course)... for each input you have one insertion and that is the meaning. Same as 4*4 size 16 input times 16 insertions .. or 5*5 and so forth...

C++ :: Filling Dynamically Allocated Array With Values

Just trying to fill a dynamically allocated array with values then I want to print out the values using pointer method:

for (int J = 0; J < length; ++J)
array2[J] = arr[J];

When this runs, I get an array with random numbers in it. For example, just trying to print the first value in *Block gives me random numbers each time. What is wrong with this as to why it is not holding the right values?

The extend_arr works perfectly fine, because when I try to access the values in the array using indexes (arr[0], arr[1], etc) it shows the right output, but using pointers does not. How can I make it work?

Output:
2 3 5 7 11 13 17 19 23 29 31 37 41 43 47 53 59 61 67 71 73 79 83 89 97 134561 23 29 640 112

As you can see, the primes end at 97 but it just keeps printing more

It now prints the correct values in the function if I set the last value in the array to 0. arr[length] = 0;

Now if I wanted to print the values in the array within main, why is that not working?

Nvm, I just changed the void function to return a pointer to an array.

User gives an input of seats reserved, for example user inputs 3 seats, then the program should give output like:

I will not ask any specific seat but put assign seats randomly where available.. How to do it?

inputting a search array. I tried putting a binary search but I can't get it to work. everything else works up until I put the value I am searching for in the array, then it just crashes.

How it suppose to work: input 2 coordinates with a value each then it calculates the distance between them then it suppose to let user search the coordinates for a value and state if found which coordinate it is at.

In the C++ book Programming: Principles and Practice Using C++, there's an example code like this for detecting repeated words:

The header file in there is sort of like a set of training-wheels for students who are complete beginners to the language; the function keep_window_open() is defined in there and it does just that on Windows systems where the output window closes too fast (in the case of the function, it's just like cin.ignore(), except it waits for you enter a character, like 'j', before it exits); programs on my Windows laptop work fine on Code::Blocks, but when I create a .exe file for them and double-click that file, it does actually close too quickly for me to be able to see the output (if it's a program like the generic "Hello World!" program that just outputs text to the screen and then exits - so all I see is the output window just flash-by really fast in those cases).

Anyway, as for the problem I'm having with the code: there are no error and compile- or link-time, but it does behave strangely at runtime, where the part inside the curly-braces of the while-loop doesn't execute at all.
