C++ :: Send String As Argument To TXT File
Apr 8, 2014
I have a function which send a string as argument to a txt file, like the following:
void Fprint(... ofstream& myfile, const string a, const int b)
......
myfile << "name: " << a << " age:" << b << "" << endl;
......
}
However, my IDE (msvc12.0) popup an error about the << before a, by citing "No operator matches these operands.

I try to use passing function as argument but I'm stuck. I have two questions: First, I try to call uppercase and open .txt in tfm Second, How can I read characters from in.txt as string and assign to char content[] ?
#include <stdio.h>
void tfm( char str_filename[], void(*pf_convertion)( char content[]));
void uppercase(char content[]); //converts all letters to uppercase
int main(){
puts("-------------------------------");
printf("tfm:
");
tfm("in.txt", uppercase);

Consider I have a rectangle like this:
Point p1(100,100);
Point p2(300,200);
Graph_lib::Rectangle r(p1,p2);
And also I have a function that takes a rectangle and returns a Point of that, say, top-left corner of that rectangle. For example:
Point N(Graph_lib::Rectangle R1);
My question is that, first, how to send that Rectangle r(p1,p2) to the Point N(Graph_lib::Rectangle R1) function? And then, how to return a Point from that function?
My IDE is visual studio 2012.

Here is what I got so far, I am not able to send whats in the txt file to the server. Its pretty much a txt file with movie names and when the client types the name, it brings up the movie and its ranking (all from the txt file)
Server Code::
#include <sys/types.h>
#include <sys/socket.h>
#include <netinet/in.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <unistd.h>
#include <arpa/inet.h>
#include <string.h>
#include <fcntl.h> //file control
[Code] .....
I attached the images of the client and server when I run this, along with the movie.txt file. I cannot seem to get the file to send to the client?

In this one program (3 body problem), there are 6 inputs that are scanned (mass, velocity and position of the 2 bodies) and these inputs are computed to arrive at values for x, y and time for the third body. There is a working code that for of extremely small time steps, i.e over 5000 iterations, it produces values for x and y positions of the third body.
I believe this info is sent to an output file since there is a:
FILE* output=fopen("results.out", "w");
I want to play around with the code, insert different values for mass and velocity of the two bodies, but I don't know how to view the results? Im guessing I need to create a results.out file somewhere, but how do I go about doing this?
Do I need to assign memory to the results and then forward that to the output file somehow?
Here is the code : 3body.c
I have a compiler and what not, I'm just unsure how i can get these results out is all.

I am trying to establish a connection between client and server to send a file to the server from a client. I have been successfully able to send files to the server but i am facing a problem with the the filename whenever i try to send any string to the server and use it in naming the filename at the server side, the string is successfully concatenated but it saves the filecontents in the filename.
for example: i am sending a file hello1.txt to server and the server has to save it as abcxyz.txt as i am sending the "xyz" from the client. BUT Whenever i am doing this ,the file saves as abcxyzfilecontents.txt If i saved in the .txt file "you123" ,my file at server side would save as abcxyzyou123.txt
Here are my codes:
Know that the server code implements a multi threaded server. The functionality to be discussed is defined in myfunc
Code:
server.c:
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <stdio.h>

Hey I am trying to use the getline() function to read a line from a file. For some reason Visual Studio 2010 gives me the following error. "No instance of overloaded function "getline" matches the argument list". The piece of code that produces the error is in a class in a separate .h file and is executed as a method of the object. I'm almost certain it has something to do with either the compiler thinking I am calling another getline in a different namespace or my parameters for the function are incorrect. Here is the code:
Code:
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
#include <vector>
#include <fstream>
using namespace std;
class InsultGenerator

Program background: Ticket Sales Details You will sell tickets in advance and at the door. Prices for buying in advance and at the door will be given. Also, the total number of tickets sold in advance will be given. Each guest will have a unique number. If there are n tickets sold in advance, then these guests will be numbered 0 through n-1. As the event starts, requests to buy tickets at the door may be made and these guests will be numbered sequentially, starting at the lowest unassigned number. The maximum number of guests will be 1000. The first line of the file contains the following three values, separated by spaces: Cost of the presales tickets (in dollars), Cost of the tickets at the door (in dollars), and the number of presale tickets. The first two values will be positive real numbers to two decimal places and the last will be a positive integer.
The second line of the file will contain one positive integer representing the number of auction items followed by a positive real value to two decimal places (at most) representing the minimum bid increment, in dollars. The first value is guaranteed to be 1000 or less and the second will be in between 1 and 50, inclusive.
The third line of the file will contain all the prices of the auction items, in dollars, separated by spaces, in order. Thus, the first price is the price of item 0, the next price is the price of item 1, and so on. These values will be real numbers represented to up to 2 decimal places.
The fourth line of the file will contain the three following positive integers pertaining to the raffle: the number of raffle tickets available, the cost of a raffle ticket in dollars, and the number of raffle prizes. (It's strange to have raffle tickets that don't cost a whole number of dollars.)
The fifth line of the file will contain each of the values of the raffle items, in dollars, separated by spaces, in order. Thus, the first price is the price if item 0, the next price is the price of item 1, and so on. These values will be real numbers with upto 2 decimal places.
The sixth line of the file will contain ten positive integers representing the number of each of the drinks 0 through 9, in order, that are in stock.
The seventh line of the file will contain ten positive real numbers with upto 2 decimal places representing the price of each of the drinks 0 through 9, in order.
The eighth line of the file will contain a single positive integer, numEvents, representing the number of events that occur at the charity ball. These events are split into two groups: actions by guests at the ball and awards given (raffle, auction, person, totalrevenue). All of the actions precede all of the awards. You will produce exactly one line of output for each event described. Here are the formats of each event that could occur:
If a patron buys a ticket at the door, a command will be on a line by itself:
BUY TICKET k
where k is a positive integer indicating the number of tickets bought at the door. These guests will be numbered as previously mentioned. You are guaranteed that the total number of tickets bought, including presales, will not exceed 1000. This is what I have so far and I cannot figure out why it wont calculate the total revenue. I am not completely sure if it is even accessing the if statement in main.
Code:
#include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h>
#include <string.h>
#define N 1000

how to send datapackets. When we send a data packet from device to another, say I have a "string". How Do I send it? Are data sent as a hex or binary number?If so do i first convert the "string" into hex or binary and then send it over the communication medium(say UART)??
I have two hex numbers to be sent using the UART, do i wrap it in some specific form and send it and retrieve it on the other side?Say if I have a data structure, in that case how do i send it? Sending data packets is very cruicial in an embedded system.

I am writing a client-server program in C++ using C libraries. The server listens for a connection and when one is found, it is supposed to send a binary file(an image in my case) to the client. The server is sending the binary file perfectly after opening it and reading its contents into a buffer that is dynamically allocated in the SERVER file.
The problem begins when the client file is supposed to recv() the file, I do not know how I can allocate a buffer big enough for the file to be received. I know how to use malloc() and new, I prefer malloc() for executable size customization. Assuming the file being sent is 11000 bytes(note that this is an assumption and the client can not know the file size because the file size is dynamically generated by server).
How can the client generate a dynamically allocated buffer big enough to hold 11000 bytes?
OR
How can the client store the data in a buffer using recv() without knowing the file size.
Below is part of the code that does the send()'ing and recv()'ing.
SERVER
FILE *img = fopen("img.jpg", "rb");
fseek(img, 0, SEEK_END);
unsigned long filesize = ftell(img);
char *buffer = (char*)malloc(sizeof(char)*filesize);
rewind(img);
// store read data into buffer
[Code] ....
This outputs all the binary code perfectly but it is a bug because it can't be written to a file. Is there a way to dynamically increase the buffer until all filesize is received? Certainly, buffer needs to be dynamically allocated or program crashes ...
Also one more thing, when I telnet the server from command line, telnet displays all the output perfectly as well
Maybe telnet is storing data into a buffer behind the scenes, if so, how?

I was wondering if there was a way for me to send information, say a username and password, to a webpage via a c++ function. I was unsure how exactly to word it, but I did attempt to google it. Here is an example of what I mean.
App starts -> goes to "Https://www.my-site.com/?user=$username&password=$password" -> username/password is valid -> logs them in on desktop app
I do not know much about php, but I am assuming the ?user=$username is setting a variable, correct? I am familiar with sockets, but it seems using the above method, this could be possible without sockets, would it?
Important part:
That is the method that minecraft uses to login players, the question here is what function could I start to send the desktop app to the webpage.
EDIT:: After looking a little more I find that it is probably not possible without sockets, which is fine; however I don't know how to do it still, I would prefer to not use external libraries, such as Curl.
