So I'm trying to complete this part of a program where I have to read a text file from Stdin and add it to the 'word list' wl. I get how to read from a text file but I don't know how to go about adding 'words' to a list, if that makes sense. So here's what I got:
Source is an array that determines how many words are read from the text and length is the amount printed on screen. Here's the program I'm writing the implementation for:
How would one go about doing this? I am very fond with Windows I/O, but not so much with this subject. I am decent with fstream, probably not as skilled at it as I should be, but I assume <fstream> would be a better choice, since it isn't locked to Windows.
Anyway, say I have a .txt file like this:
Bill is a cow. Bill likes meat. Bob is a pig. Bob and Bill are friends.
And I want to count the number of times "Bill" is written. How would I do that?
Consider I have a vector of strings and then I use an istringstream to read each word of each element in the vector, why do I nescessarily use an istringstream?
This is the code that does what I just described (I think)..
Read in n, then n lastnames, and check to see if the first in the list is ever repeated again.Here's what I have so far:
Code:
#include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> int strcmp(char *w1, char *w2); int main() { int j, n; char string1[30], string2[30]; }
[code]....
I see the problem is that it lies within n amount of string that I am not going through every string to compare to the first one.How will do compare every string to the first one?
The homework assignment is to create a word ladder and we were given a .dat file containing about 5000 words (5 letter words).
I was able to read the 'dictionary' and store all the words into a linked list. Now in the main program, it calls for 2 words (firstword) and (lastword).
So the problem I'm running into is when I put in my first word
-------------------- Enter First Word: zowie Error, first word is not in dictionary. Enter First Word:
zowie is the last word in the dictionary (or if I try any other word) But if I use the first word in the dictionary it outputs and I can ONLY use the first word
-------------------- Enter First Word: aargh Enter First Word:
I am currently writing a password generator in Microsoft Visual Studios 2010 Professional. The section I am having a problem with is the practical password. It is suppose to randomly read 3 words from a text file and then display it in the text box. The program will compile and run but when I hit generate I get "True True True" and not three random words. Then this warning shows up:
Warning C4800: 'char *' : forcing value to bool 'true' or 'false' (performance warning)
//Code is from the form1.h file. I can post the rest of the code if need be but I just included my includes and the problematic section
I am supposed to read(scan) data from a folder with multiple(21578) text files, and file names are numbered from 1 to 21578,and read each word that occurs in a text file, and count the number of times it occurs in the entire folder,i.e; in all the files how do i go about it? I've tried this so far..but it isn't working..
I am currently using Flash. Here are two images I will be referring through without this post:
1: [URL] ....
2: [URL] ....
So basically, when I click the generate buttonon the first image it takes you to the second image. What I want is when I click the generate button it comes to this screen, aswell as choose a random word from each list that I will make (Who List, What List, When List, Where List, and Why List) and place the word next to its position. When you click New Idea I want it to also generate another set of random words from the lists. How can I do this?
Ok here I have a program that reads a word from a text file randomly and matches it with the definition. The user has to guess what the word is according to the definition.
I'm having trouble with my for loop, I'm not getting any errors. But I just know something is off.
using namespace std; int main(){ int number; int count = 0; int numOfGuess = 0;
[Code] ...
This is words.txt:
apple#the usually round, red or yellow, edible fruit of a small tree boat#a vessel for transport by water horse#a solid-hoofed plant-eating domesticated mammal with a flowing mane and tail, used for riding television#a system for transmitting visual images and sound that are reproduced on screens soup#a liquid dish, typically made by boiling meat, fish, or vegetables, etc. bottle#a container, typically made of glass or plastic and with a narrow neck barber#a person who cuts hair toast#sliced bread browned on both sides by exposure to radiant heat radar#a system for detecting the presence, direction, distance, and speed of aircraft, ships, and other objects red#of a color at the end of the spectrum next to orange and opposite violet
I have program that is supposed to read in a story from an input file and separate the words and output the lines on which the word occurs. It needs to read in another input file that has a list of words (1 per line) to ignore. i.e. skip them when running through the story. This is what I have so far, I've changed multiple things trying to get it running....
Basically I have a text file called words. I'm supposed to extract a word randomly form the file and have the user guess the word. If they guess the word correctly in x number of tries they will receive the definition.
I'm having trouble receiving that random word and I'm getting the definitions from the file.
This is what is in the words.txt file apple#the usually round, red or yellow, edible fruit of a small tree boat#a vessel for transport by water horse#a solid-hoofed plant-eating domesticated mammal with a flowing mane and tail, used for riding television#a system for transmitting visual images and sound that are reproduced on screens soup#a liquid dish, typically made by boiling meat, fish, or vegetables, etc. bottle#a container, typically made of glass or plastic and with a narrow neck barber#a person who cuts hair toast#sliced bread browned on both sides by exposure to radiant heat radar#a system for detecting the presence, direction, distance, and speed of aircraft, ships, and other objects red#of a color at the end of the spectrum next to orange and opposite violet
I am building a linked list and i need to display function i have. The display function displays all the letters of the word entered instead of the word itself. below is my struct, one of my functions and the display function.
I'm learning programming, and C++. I've got a question, but I couldn't solve my problem so far. I need to use arrays and only basic stuff to solve this:
Create a program that reads a word from the user and then print (cout) this word on contrary. It's simple, I know, but I can't do it,. I've tried some stuff but I don't get how I will get the proper values to do this. All I know is that I can use variable.lenght().
I've taken part the text into 1 word per line, but I can't figure out how to printf every word only once and then add (%d) in the end to show how many repetitions of that word there are.
Code: #include <iostream> #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> using namespace std; int main(){ char *oneword;
i write this program and every things work correct except when i want to add data of file to the link list .when i add the data to the link list by add_to_linked_list() every things work correct but when i use read_linked_list_from_file() it doesn't work
I've been trying to read a .txt into a linked list in the attached code. I'm running into problems, specifically I'm getting errors on line 41 (curr->word=charTemp. I'm trying to set the word array equal to the charTemp array. I've tried strcpy with no luck .
Code:
#include <stdio.h>#include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> //Struct for linked list typedef struct node { char word[25]; struct node *next; } node;
I have a program and function i'm having an issue understanding. Here is what it's doing in the main.
int main() { orderedLinkedList<MemberDO> memberList; MemberDO::readFromFile("Member.dat", memberList); return 0; }
So it is creating a linked list object using the MemberDO class type which has a int, string, char and double. Then it will call the readFromFile static function in the MemberDO. So this is where my problem is I have this function
How do I read in each individual data member from the input then create a new MemberDO object and insert the objects into the linked list specified in the second argument list?
Here is the MemberDO class declarations
class MemberDO { private: int key; string lastName; char firstInitial; double dues;
I have text (string) and I want to find a given word (it's ok!) and then insert another given word after the first word. The original string is beeing copied into a new string. But something is going wrong!!! Where is my mistake?
(I have some patches...)
Code:
#include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> //insert "new_word" after each occurence of "word" int main(){ char A[100]="In the sentence words the and the.";
I am doing c++ program to read coordinates from text file into double linked list. Everything seems to work perfectly but it stores only 298 items in linked list. Im not sure if my code is wrong or I missed something. On the debugger length of list is over a 1000 but like I said it print outs only 298.
1. Construct a class diagram that can be used to represent food items. A type of food can be classified as basic or prepared. Basic food items can be further classified as meat, fruit, veg or Grain. The services provide by the class should be the ability to enter data for new food, to change data for food and to display existing data about food.
using this class definition write a main program to include a simple menu that offers the following choices:
1. Add food 2. Modify Food 3. Delete Food 4. Exit this menu
2. Read a list of numbers from a file and then print them out in reverse order. State whether the list is palindromic or not.
