How can I check for an invalid date when I run the program? I am trying to enter a conditional statement that checks for a valid or invalid date.

Programing Question: Write a program that inputs a date (e.g., July 4, 2008) and outputs the day of the week that corresponds to that date. Here is what I Have. The program runs. I need it to loop around.

#include <iostream>

C++ :: Program Will Echo Letter (User Input) And Output Name Of The Day Of Week

Oct 21, 2012

Write a C++ program that does the following:

Prompt the user to enter a day of the week as M (or m), T, W, R, F, S, and U for Monday through Sunday respectively. The user may enter an upper or lower case letter.

When the user enters a character, the program will echo the letter and output the name of the day of the week.

Provide an error trap that reads something like "you have entered an invalid letter; program aborting." Suggestion: use a switch statement with the error trap as the default condition. it is not necessary to prompt for multiple inputs.

So I know how to get the program to echo back the letter and everything. What I am a little confused about is: will I have to define all the letters as their respective day? eg. make M== Monday. And if I do have to do that how would I get it to accept Upper and Lower case letters and recognize that that letter is == monday ect. ect.

Also my main problem is the switch statement as the error trap. I have never used the switch statement, but I know what they do. I just don't really understand how I would use it for an error trap. Am I suppose to just make a case for every other letter in the alphabet other then M T W R F S and U? Even if I do that then what if the user enters a number instead of a letter?

C :: Take Averages Of Whole Week And Output Print Statement

Jul 17, 2013

I wanted to take the averages of the whole week and output a print statement. I've tired few ways this like assigning "temp" a pointer, or in each if statement assigning temp to a new variable like a, b , c etc. Then adding them all up at the end and dividing by 7. My issue is I am unclear how to store the number typed for each if statement while the program is running, then have it compute the simple equation. The code in question is below:

Code:
#include <stdio.h>
int main(int argc, const char * argv[]) {

int i, j = 0, temp = 0;
for (i=1; i<=7; i++) {
j++;

C :: Take Integer Input For Temperature And Display Message For Different Ranges For Each Day Of Week

Apr 20, 2014

I'm writing the program below to take an integer input for temperature and display a cheesy message for different ranges for each day of the week.

I tried using two if statements, the first to determine if the input is valid, and the else display that it was invalid and to try again.

The second set of if (if else) statements would evaluate a number input and display the cheesy message based on the value, or if it was out of range, to make you re input that days temperature.

I understand that the else statement is linked to the closest if statement, unless brackets are added to prevent this. I thought my brackets were correct, but I keep getting [Error]'else' without previous if'. The red lines are the if and else statement I'd like to be linked, and tried to do so by enclosing the 2nd if statement in brackets.

The assignment doesn't require the error checking, but if I don't use some form of it I believe it will just loop. Again I have to use the last 4 lines due to instructors rules, and have to use scanf and not strings or arrays.

This program will ask the user what the temperature will be for each day of the week. The integer input from the keyboard will be tested in a series of IF tests and a message will be printed depending on the temperature.

Code] ....

#include <stdio.h>
#define MAX 100
#define MIN 0

int main() {
int day = 1;
int temp;

Visual C++ :: Program That Reformat And Output Date

May 30, 2013

Write a well-commented C++ program that reformats and outputs the date. Prompt the user to input the date in the format dd/mm/yyyy and outputs it in this format month, dd, yyyy. For example, 07/06/2012 is displayed as June 07, 2012. You are provided with the file months.txt containing the months and their corresponding numbers, for example 01January 02February etc. Use getline(monthsFile,monthString) to read in a string from the file, and use the monthString.find() function to search for the number and extract the corresponding month.

-confused by the way she told me to use getline(monthsFile,monthString) => if I just do it like this I only get the first line from the txt file (01January)
-if I try putting all the months on one line in the txt file (which i'm not even sure i'm allowed to do), I'm not sure what to do for the length of my substring output. if I make it long enough to fit longer months like September, someone entering may gets both may and june in the output
-if I input all the months into separate variables, I'm not sure how to make it only output the month entered by the user

the months.txt file is as follows:

01January
02February
03March
04April
05May
06June
07July
08August
09September
10October
11Novmber
12December

C++ :: Getting User Input In Date Format

Oct 26, 2014

So I have a programming assignment which is for getting a user input in the format of m/d/yyyy. This is stored as d/m/yyyy. I have been able to code all the rest of the requirements of the program but the thing that is giving me trouble is this. The year is allowed to go from 1-3000. The format of the displayed date is:

a zero-filled, two-digit day number, a dash, full name of month, a dash, zero-filled, four-digit year.

I am able to use a switch statement in order to get my name of the month. What I am struggling to figure out is the whole zero filled two digit day and zero filled four digit year. From the way the input is store it appears to me that it will be stored as yyyy which means if you were to enter 0001 for year 1 then it should output it as that (this is an assumption based on format). What I don't get is that the day is entered and stored as d which means if you put in 12 how would it be stored. However if you put in 6 to print the output I would need to add a zero and I dont know how to do that either.

Here is the code for getting the input. The function must stay formated this way as per the instructor. The / is stored but ignored hence the char for second and fourth since / is a char

Code:
void getDate (int& day, int& month, int& year){
char second;
char fourth;
cout << "Please enter a date in the format of m/d/yyyy" << endl;
cin >> month >> second >> day >>fourth >> year;
}

C# :: Check Input Date Between 2 Dates (not SQL)

Oct 8, 2014

Using Visual Studio 2010 C# 4.0.

PC date time setting: GMT +08:00 dd-MMM-yy.

Assumed today date is 291014 (29-Oct-14).

CodeBehind:

DateTime inputDate;
// the WinForm allows user to input date not earlier than 2 years before today date and not more than 1 months from today date too.
//Assumed I input date as 261014 (26-Oct-14)
if(DateTime.TryParseExact(input, "ddMMyy", new System.Globalization.CultureInfo("en-US"), System.Globalization.DateTimeStyles.None, out inputDate)) {
DateTime minDate = DateTime.Now.AddMonths(-24);//Assumed it is 29-Nov-14
DateTime maxDate = DateTime.Now.AddMonths(1);//Assumed it is 29-Oct-12

I tried many methods but none works (I have checked many threads/forums also).

//Method 1
if(inputDate >= minDate && inputDate <= maxDate)
return true

//Method 2: B return true but A ***always*** return false, Why??
if (inputDate >= minDate)
A = true;

C/C++ :: Making A Date Format Input?

Dec 16, 2014

how my code should work is a console screen in which the user enters a date using format dd/mm/yyyy

Regardless of logical errors (checking days if bigger than 31 or negative values or.. etc) My code should be able to validate the following:

- if the user enters a letter, the program should output an error message

- if the user typed the date as 8/2/2014 the program should convert it to 08/02/2014 without returning an error message

Here's my code so far, I really can't find the bugs in it

#include<iostream>
using namespace std;
main(){
 char d[2], m[2], y[4], br1, br2, dx, mx;
 bool end, nobr1, nobr2;

[code]....

as you notice, I tried two different validating formats in the days and months, unfortunately they both failed..

Here's how my program is outputting so far:

C++ :: Program Which Takes Date And Time Input From The User

Jan 20, 2013

I am writing a C++ program which takes date & time input from the user. This is then parsed into a struct such as:

struct time
{
short year;
short month;
short day;
short hour;
short min;
};

My question is: how can I convert such a struct into a time_t object, which is an unsigned long giving the time as the number of seconds elapsed since the epoch Jan 1st 1970, 00:00, as set out in time.h.

I am wondering if this can be achieved using the standard library, or whether I just need to write a function to perform the appropriate arithmetic.

I have looked around and found "dup2", but I don't understand how to send in and get data to the child from the parent, especially since the "file descriptors" is not pointing to any files in the first place..

C++ :: Zero And Output The Input With A Setprecision Of 2

Mar 31, 2013

I have a program that needs to output the input with a setprecision of 2 but when it outputs 0, it has to be "0", not "0.00"

How will I go about that?

void PrintAllSales(double sales[][SLSPRDT]) {
cout << fixed << showpoint << setprecision(2) << endl;
cout << "ALL SALES
";
WriteLine('=', 63);

[Code] .....

And here is how it comes out:

ALL SALES

Product # | 1 | 2 | 3 |
Salesperson 1 | 2000.00 | 0.00 | 299.00 |
Salesperson 2 | 0.00 | 2543.98 | 95.99 |
Salesperson 3 | 0.00 | 0.00 | 19.99 |
Salesperson 4 | 0.00 | 3854.75 | 0.00 |

But it should be like this:

1234
ALL SALES
===============================================================
Product # | 1 | 2 | 3 |
Salesperson 1 | 2000.00 | 0 | 299.00 |

The error we are getting is that we have to 'take care of the input/output order'. So if you type in the names/numbers of the students in a different way, so for example if you type first number 1, then 0, then 2 and 0 and 1 have to pay money to number 2, number 0 has to be in front of 1.
