C :: Combining Contents Of Two Files

Jul 5, 2013

I have dabbled in programming with C, but I am not proficient enough to write a program dealing with files. I have to take an extremely long list of numbers that need to be placed into another file within a line of code for validating purposes. Taking the numbers from one file and placing them into another file with a string code around them?

C++ :: Merging Contents Of Files?

Apr 20, 2013

i need to write a c++ code which can merge contents of several .txt files into a single file. i used the following code , it works but after merging the result file contains the contents merged twice.I think it over writes the result.I want to do it without using command line.

#include<iostream>
#include<fstream>
using namespace std;
int main()
{
std::ofstream("merge.txt");
system("type *.txt >> merge.txt");
system("pause");
return 0;

C :: Read Enormous Binary Files (10-100GB) And Parse Their Contents Bit At A Time

Dec 5, 2013

I am trying to read enormous binary files (10-100GB) and parse their contents a bit at a time. As part of the process I need to get the size of the file in bytes. The simple solution

Code: fseek(file,0,SEEK_END);
size=ftell(file);

fails because the file size overflows the long int type returned by ftell. I need a long long int.

Is there a reasonably efficient way to do this? The good news is that it only needs to be done once. I suppose I could read it one character at a time until I hit the end and keep count, but that just seems inelegant...

C++ :: Using Union For Combining Registers

Nov 16, 2013

How I could use unions to combine registers elegantly. For example I have the 8 bit registers B and C & I have opcodes that work on each independent register such as add b, c, which is simple, but then I also have opcodes that work on both of them as if they're one like ld a, bc. I know I could go about that by just masking them together but I've seen it done with unions before & it made everything so much more simple.

C++ :: Zero In List Contents And Multiset Contents

Apr 24, 2015

HTML Code:

So I insert values from a vector into a list and into a multiset, and I noticed zero is added to their contents! I had to do a whole lot of debugging to find out where the error was, how can i stop this thing? Code which generates such error...

infact i checked the content of vector ups to be sure that there was no zero in it, but after loading into list combi_t * head, it seems like there was a zero added and this is giving me errors when i call function master_roller...

Code:
void ins(combi_t * &testa, int &numero, int &num, int &no)
{ // if (ricerca(testa, numero) == 0)
//{
combi_t *temp = new combi_t;

temp->val0 = numero;
temp->val1 = num;
temp->val2 = no;
temp->nextPtr = 0;

C/C++ :: Combining 2 String Parameters And 1 Int Parameter

Mar 20, 2012

#include <stdio.h>
#include <ctype.h>
#include <string.h>
void interpose(char s[], char a[], int pos) {
    char b[80];

[Code] ....

The program should take 2 string parameter and 1 int parameter for combining. (without any str functions, the functions should be written by coder)

My problem is when i enter int value program crashes.

For example,
str1='Good';
str2=' Morning';
int x= 5;

The output will be 'Good Morning'

C++ :: Project Combining Arrays / Pointers And Structures

May 6, 2014

Write a program that uses a record structure to store a Student Name, Student ID, Test Scores, Average Test Score, and Grade. The program should keep a list of test scores for a group of 6 students. The program should ask for the name, ID, and four test scores for each student. Then the average test score should be calculated and stored. The course grade should be based on the following scale:

Average Test Score Course Grade
------------------ ------------
90 - 100 A
80 - 89 B
70 - 79 C
60 - 69 D
59 or below F

A table should be displayed on the screen listing each student's name, ID, average test score, and course grade. Implement with functions.

My code runs but it isnt returning anything (readable/correct) and i have no clue why. This is what i have so far:

#include <iostream>

const int columns = 4;
struct StuRec //user defined datatype {
int id[6];
char names[6][20];

it compiles completely but at the end instead of showing the student name ID average score and class grade it shows.... [URL] .....

C Sharp :: Combining Multiple Access Tables Using C#

Aug 14, 2012

I'm having a bit of trouble with something. What I'm trying to do is create a new Access table by combining other already existing Tables.

For instance, let's consider Table1 (with columns A, B and C), Table2 (with columns A, D and E) and Table3 (with columns A, F and G), where Table1.A = Table2.A = Table3.A.

From these, I want to create a new table TableResult, with columns A, B, C, D, E, F and G, with all the data contained in them. There's one catch: I want the code to get the names of the other columns, apart from column A.

I've thought about using Union, but I need to actually create a new table by combining the previous tables.

C++ :: Display Last 1000 Lines From Multiple Text Files (log Files)

Jan 16, 2014

I am writing a piece of code that requires me to display the last 1000 lines from a multiple text files (log files). FYI, I am running on Linux and using g++.

I have a log file from which - if it contains more than 1000 lines, I need to display the last 1000 lines. However, the log file could get rotated. So, in case where the current log file contains less than 1000 lines, I have to go to older log file and display the remaining. For e.g., if log got rotated and new log file contains 20 lines, I have to display the 980 lines from old log file + 20 from current log files.

What is the best way to do this? Even an outline algorithm will work.

C :: Get Stdin Contents Without Newline Then Replace

Feb 19, 2015

I'm learning internet sockets right now and to that end I've made a simple client/server chat program centered around select(). I've got it to where multiple messages can be sent and received on either side and the "prompt" will move down 1 line each time accordingly.

My only sticking point is when someone is in the middle of typing a message and a new message is received. The message they are currently typing is going to be deleted, so they'll have to start over again. What I want to do is grab the current contents of the stdin buffer (meaning, there's no ), save it, print the received message and move the prompt downward as usual, and then put that saved message back into the buffer, meaning not only is it back on the screen now, it's erasable too as if nothing ever happened.

I know that this will definitely be some very very non-standard C, and that's fine. To that end, I've read that curses, GNU readline, and termios are possibilities for this. I've tried those, but am having trouble making it work.

This will be a moot point when I put a GUI on it soon (probably wx, but maybe Qt) since it won't even be an issue, but I'm determined to make this work. Both systems (the "client" and the "server") are Linux, one being Ubuntu and one being Debian.

C++ :: File I/O Not Recognizing Contents Correctly

Nov 17, 2014

I have a program that's not doing what I want it to do. This is the assignment:

The nth term of the sequence of triangle numbers is given by, tn = 1/2 n (n+1); so the first ten triangle numbers are:

1, 3, 6, 10, 15, 21, 28, 36, 45, 55,...

By converting each letter in a word to a number corresponding to its alphabetical position and adding these values we form a word value. For example, the word value for SKY is 19 + 11 + 25 = 55 = t10. If the word value is a triangle number then we shall call the word a triangle word.

the 'words.txt' has a bunch of words in this format:

"ABSTRACT"
"YOUTH"

there's about 1000 words in that format.

And for any triangle words I find, I put it into another text file which I called triangle.txt.

Now for my program, it pulls the 'words.txt' file just fine but it doesn't recognize any of the words in the file as triangle words.

#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
#include <sstream>
#include <cmath>
#include <cstdlib>
int getCharValue(char a);
double sum1(std::string name);
