C/C++ :: Name And Lastname Search Functions Won't Work?

Jan 1, 2015

I made a function as my project and name search/lastname search functions are not working and giving a runtime error. I can't really see the mistake. So what's wrong it?

Also ID and Mark search system has some bugs with them, whenever you search for an ID it also brings mark = 0, also if you search for Mark, it will bring ID = 0.

Exact error is; Unhandled exception at 0x6583f5cf in proje10.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation writing location 0x00eb0000.

Full code:

C++ :: Make A Function Integrate To Work With Other Functions Given

double integrate(double FUNC, double a, double b){

C :: Functions To Work With Graphics Card - Read Pixel Map

Nov 25, 2014

In this project I need to develop few functions to work with graphics card. I work in minix and this is pretty rubbish.

I'm having an hard time to read a pixel map, or atleast to print it on my main function.

I have a read_xpm function, which is given, therefore, working.

Code:
char *read_xpm(char *map[], int *wd, int *ht)

Then I have a pixmap.h file which gives some examples of pixmap images that I can use as example:

Code:
static char *pic1[] = {
"32 13 4",
". 0",
"x 2",
"o 14",
"+ 4",

[Code] ....

The doubt is. I have a test_xpm function and I need to call this char array but this is so many pointers that I can't even figure out where I'm pointed to (?)

Code: int test_xpm(unsigned short xi, unsigned short yi, char *xpm[])

I tried something like read_xpm(xi, yi, *xpm[0]); but I'm guessing I need to index that array and run all those chars in order to show them.

C++ :: Functions Doing A Word Search

Nov 5, 2013

I am writing a program that determines how many times a word is repeated in a file without a main function. I almost have it correct but it doesn't exit after it finds how many of the last word and it just loops.

Here is my coding

int count_the_word(string filename, string word) {
ifstream word_search;
int number_the = 0
int number_is = 0
int number_of_romeos = 0
int number_case = 0
string user_input;

[Code] ....

there is also two more lines from a different txt file i just havn't coded them yet.

the main function that is used to test it is as follows
cout << count_the_word("raj.txt", "the") << endl;
cout << count_the_word("raj.txt", "is") << endl;
cout << count_the_word("raj.txt", "Romeo") << endl;
cout << count_the_word("raj.txt", "case") << endl;

it works like its supposed to but like i earlier mentioned it outputs another number after it finds how many "case" are in the file and then it loops asking for a filename.

C++ :: Search And Find The Shortest Queue And Search After Some Condition?

Mar 7, 2013

I am trying to implement a Task scheduler where i have n number of tasks. The Idea behind my task scheduler is that in a loop of queues of a vector, task should get enqueued to the shortest queue among the loop of queues, which is done by the following code.

#include <vector>
#include <queue>
std::vector<std::queue<int> > q
int min_index = 0;
task t // implemented in the other part of the program

[Code] ....

Next i am trying to extend this paradigm to reduce the overhead time of the scheduler, Instead of searching the shortest queue every time, search after some condition ie. search the shortest queue after 5 tasks gets enqueued to the shortest queue.

i need to do something like this

#include <vector>
#include <queue>
std::vector<std::queue<int> > q
task t // implemented in the other part of the program
while(q[min_index].size()!=q[min_index].size()+5) // check whether current min_index queue's size is increased 5 more times if not goto enqueue

C/C++ :: How To Access Linked List Functions From Stack Class Without Functions

Mar 20, 2014

I'm a little confused by my programming assignment this week. I've been working at it Wednesday and I've made progress but I'm still confused as to how I'm supposed to do this. The class I made is called Stack, and it's derived from a template class called StackADT. We also utilize a class called unorderedLinkedList, which is derived from a class called linkedList.

We're supposed to implement all of the virtual functions from stackADT in the Stack class. The Stack data is stored in a an unorderedLinkedList, so what I'm confused by is how to implement a few of the Stack functions because there are no functions in unorderedLinkedList which we could call to manipulate the data.

As you can see from my attached code, I'm really confused by how I'm supposed to implement the pop() and top() functions, and I also think my initializeList() function is wrong. We don't have any similar functions in unorderedLinkedList to call, so I'm at a loss of how i'd access my unorderedLinkedList. My initial thought was to call the similar functions in the class that unorderedLinkedList was derived from, linkedList, but I'm unsure of this is what we're supposed to do, or if theres actually a way to access my unorderedLinkedList without having to use the functions from the base class.

NOTE: We're not allowed to modify stackADT, unorderedLinkedList, and linkedList.

Stack.h

#include "stackADT.h"
#include "unorderedLinkedList.h"
template<class Type>
class Stack: public stackADT<Type>{
template <class T>
struct nodeType
{
T info;
nodeType<T> *link;

C/C++ :: Array Of Functions Pointing To In Class Functions With Arduino

May 3, 2013

At the moment im trying out with pointing to an array of functions. I got this working as following:

typedef void (* functionPtr) ();
functionPtr functions[2][2]={{do11,do12}, {do21,do22}};
void do11(){DEBUG_PRINTLN("11");}
void do12(){DEBUG_PRINTLN("12");}
void do21(){DEBUG_PRINTLN("21");}
void do22(){DEBUG_PRINTLN("22");}
void loop(){
         A=0;
         B=1;
         functions[A][b]();
}

But now I'm trying to use this to point to a function inside a class so instead of do11, i want to be able to point to Basic.Do11. Somehow this doesnt work and I keep on getting this message:

error: argument of type 'void (Basic::)()' does not match 'void (*)()'

C++ :: Getline Won't Work

Nov 14, 2013

I've just started learning from "Jumping into C++". Great book. Unfortunately, I've also encountered my first snag. Practice problem number 3 from chapter 4 tells me to make a small calculator that takes one of the four arithmetic operations and its two arguments as input and give the result as output. Here's what my newbie mind came up with:

Code:
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
using namespace std;
int main()

[Code] .....

The thing that I don't get is why doesn't the function "getline" work. It's worked in previous programs. The program seems to work if I simply replace getline with a simple "cin". I could easily use that as a cheap fix but I am interested in knowing why "getline" refuses to work anymore....

C :: How Strtok Will Work In Beginning

Nov 28, 2013

Assuming that we have the string :

Code:
***HELLO&SIR. & and * is the delimiters.

My question is how strtok will work in the beginning?

According to this to determine the beginning and the end of a token, the function first scans from the starting location for the first character not contained in delimiters (which becomes the beginning of the token). And then scans starting from this beginning of the token for the first character contained in delimiters, which becomes the end of the token. The scan also stops if the terminating null character is found.

This end of the token is automatically replaced by a null-character, and the beginning of the token is returned by the function. strtok will replace the first * with '' and the next call will start from the second * puts '' there and again the same with the third * ?

C :: How Bounds Annotations Work

Mar 15, 2014

how the -bounds annotations work, and I came up with the following test program.The alloc_char function ensures maxRead/ maxSet(str) == len. This is, in turn, ensured by malloc and memset (see the comments; I found this in /usr/share/splint/lib/standard.h), but SPLint doesn't recognize that.However, SPLint correctly sees that requires maxRead(str) >= i is fulfilled in main.

Code:

/*
* splint -strict
*/
#include
#include
#include
#include
}

[code]....

(Of course the main function is contrived and I could use puts instead, but that's not the point. The point is to make it see that i is not out of bounds.)I have struggled with -bounds for a very long time. Earlier I gave up and used -likelybounds instead. But now I have written a library which is annotated for splint -strict with -likelybounds, and I want people to be able to use it with the full -bounds checks. I can't get those ensures and requires annotations for maxRead/Set to work.

C/C++ :: How Does Casting Work (under The Surface)

Mar 14, 2014

So, I've used int to float cast before. And it makes sense that it preserves the int value just converts it. I don't really need the answer, I'm just interested, and a resources could suffice.

1. Why in my test program it seems to preserve the int value, I expect that, but why for 0x8000 is it registering bit negation also. I know that is the negative bit for float, but it seems wrong. Is this an error in the gcc compiler conversion code?

2. What is the documentation on these type cast on how they actual work.

3. I know like no assembly, I'm wondering if some of the built in routines to handle or is it all c side code.

4. Can I convert type and preserve the bits. Maybe use void* casting ? I've never really bothered with void* so I don't all that I can do. Except be a pointer that doesn't know the type, obviously. I tested that out in the second code, the output doesn't seem correct, except -0.000. Is it working and my test numbers just are improper float format? It can't be that I test 0x3E20000 = 0.15625 from SingleWiki , but I got 1.328e-36 so the int to void* to float doesn't seem to work in the code below:

#include <cstdio>

unsigned int num = 1;
int ant;
