I am attempting to write a simple C program, in which the user is asked to input their name and height in inches and the output is the user's height in centimeters.

Write a program to convert a measurement in centimeters to inches. The numbers of centimeters should be read as input. Define int variable for centimeters, inches, and feet. Convert the centimeters to inches, then convert the inches to feet and inches (use the % operator). Print the distance in all three units. There are 2.54 centimeters in each inch and 12 inches in each foot.

I was told to use fgets instead of scanf for for stdin to parse the number and the quotation marks. I think I converted the number from string to integer correctly with strtol, but I really do not know how to obtain the (") or (') from user input so the program knows whether to convert the number to feet or just inches. No matter what I type in, even if it's without a quotation mark, it still multiplies the number by 12. In the IF and ELSE IF statement, it should state

I was given an assignment to enter two sets of numbers for yards, feet, and inches, and then add them together and convert it to inches. That part of the program is correct, but now I need to calculate the area. It is a working program, but my final answer is in inches, and it is supposed to be in yards, feet, and inches. I'm trying to write a program that takes input from the user (thats a char) and outputs it to the monitor in hex form.The program is meant to continuously take input from the user then output to the monitor in hex form until an EOF is detected this triggers the program to close.The following code does this except that I get a lower case 'a' at the end of each output.I think the 'a' has to do with the enter key and if that is the case how can i tell the program to ignore this input from the user.

The program is supposed to read in a string from the user and then output the number of each vowel that the string has. My first function is initializing the vectors, and the one that I'm having trouble with is the function used to read the string from the user and save it.

Write a C++ program that does the following:
Prompt the user to enter a day of the week as M (or m), T, W, R, F, S, and U for Monday through Sunday respectively. The user may enter an upper or lower case letter.
When the user enters a character, the program will echo the letter and output the name of the day of the week.
Provide an error trap that reads something like "you have entered an invalid letter; program aborting." Suggestion: use a switch statement with the error trap as the default condition. it is not necessary to prompt for multiple inputs.
So I know how to get the program to echo back the letter and everything. What I am a little confused about is: will I have to define all the letters as their respective day? eg. make M== Monday. And if I do have to do that how would I get it to accept Upper and Lower case letters and recognize that that letter is == monday ect. ect.
Also my main problem is the switch statement as the error trap. I have never used the switch statement, but I know what they do. I just don't really understand how I would use it for an error trap. Am I suppose to just make a case for every other letter in the alphabet other then M T W R F S and U? Even if I do that then what if the user enters a number instead of a letter?
How would I make it so that I can have someone input the length, width and height for all 3 boxes and then have it output the sum and average volume? Here's an example of what I would like:
INPUT - Enter Box 1 (Length, Width, Height): 10.1 11.2 3.3
INPUT – Enter Box 2 (Length, Width, Height): 5.5 6.6 7.7

I have my program all but done, but I can't get past this last part. I need to have the user input their height as a decimal. For example someone who is 5 foot 11 inches would need to enter it as 5.11, then I need to display there height in inches. Since i'm 5 foot 11, I would need to enter 5.11, then have it display 71 inches.

I would like to, when running cat, send in some data like "testing" to its stdin, and then catch the output of stdout, and put it into a character array variable.Currently the parent stalls till the child is done.I imagine the parent has to some how detect that the child executed 'cat', and then send in input to stdin?Then somehow detect that 'cat' is done executing, and read the output from stdout? I have looked around and found "dup2", but I don't understand how to send in and get data to the child from the parent, especially since the "file descriptors" is not pointing to any files in the first place..
So I have a project in which I am processing audio signals in real-time. I want to create a class to do this using the ASIO driver. I don't want to use a cross platform library nor do I want to use windows API as it is very slow.

It is completed today and is going to be applied to startup programs of domain machines. It runs at logon and takes somewhat 5-10 seconds to finish execution. The output is shown on console screen & user can either close the window by clicking on 'x' or pressing 'Ctrl+c' during execution. How do i prevent both of these events?
Basically the most time consuming processes are
