C/C++ :: Change Each Word In Vector To Uppercase?
May 3, 2014
What I am trying to do is read a sequence of words from cin and store the values on a vector. Then process the vector and change each word to uppercase.
I know line 21 is the problem. I think I don't have the right syntax. That syntax works on string. I'm trying to adapt and use it on vector but it doesn't work.
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
#include <vector>
int main()
[Code]....

I have to read multiple text files and change all uppercase to lowercase. i also put in a little extra with finding values and spaces and punctuation. But nothing comes out so i don't know if the file is even being read or maybe I'm reading it but not accessing the right way.
string stdins;
char data;
//string line;
vector<char> a;
ifstream read;
read.open("ds.txt");
while( getline(cin,stdins) ) {

I need to write a C program to make the user input some text,and the first letter of each word has to be uppercase.(have to use while loops)So for example lets say the user inputs:
i lOvE pRoGrAmMiNg
The output needs to be:
I Love Programming
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
int main()
{
int i = 0;

Is it possible to create a programme which would detect and change word endings? I would like to write a simple verb conjugator, i.e.:
If you enter a word ending with AAA then I would like the programme to show, say, six modified words:
Word with the replaced ending, for example QWERTYAAA changes into QWERTYBBBQWERTYAAA changes into QWERTYCCCQWERTYAAA changes into QWERTYDDD etc.
Is it possible to do it? If so, how?

I am trying to change the value of of time in my vector of structs. The result should output 1430 as the value of shares[1].time though I get something different.
unsigned convTime = 1430;
std::stringstream out;
out << convTime;
shares[1].time = out.str();
std::cout << shares[1].time;
But my shares[1].time stays as its original value and not 1430.

Consider I have a vector of strings and then I use an istringstream to read each word of each element in the vector, why do I nescessarily use an istringstream?
This is the code that does what I just described (I think)..
Code:
for(auto &elem : svec) {
istringstream strm(elem);
while (strm >> word)
//Magic
}
What would be the equivalent of using something else than an istringstream in this scenario and how does the istringstream work?

This program is to solve a word maze and find the number of words in the maze from a dictionary file.
The program runs, but stops by finding 1,2 and 3 letter words.
#include<iostream>
#include<vector>
#include<fstream>
#include<algorithm>
#include<string>
using namespace std;
int main() {
vector <string> dict,forward,reverse;
[Code] .....
I also tried to find words using the entire vector as a container, the synopsis code that also did not work is below
while(j<dict.size()) {
if(dict[j].size()>2) {
if (std::find(forward.begin(), forward.end(), dict[j]) != forward.end()) {
cout<<"found word "<<dict[j]<<endl;
[Code] ....
Attached File(s)
dumpling2.txt (2.54K)
Dictionary.txt (718.34K)

so i want to change into vector class like Vector<board>row;

Basically I have a text file called words. I'm supposed to extract a word randomly form the file and have the user guess the word. If they guess the word correctly in x number of tries they will receive the definition.
I'm having trouble receiving that random word and I'm getting the definitions from the file.
Here's my code:
#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <time.h>
using namespace std;
[Code] ....
This is what is in the words.txt file
apple#the usually round, red or yellow, edible fruit of a small tree
boat#a vessel for transport by water
horse#a solid-hoofed plant-eating domesticated mammal with a flowing mane and tail, used for riding
television#a system for transmitting visual images and sound that are reproduced on screens
soup#a liquid dish, typically made by boiling meat, fish, or vegetables, etc.
bottle#a container, typically made of glass or plastic and with a narrow neck
barber#a person who cuts hair
toast#sliced bread browned on both sides by exposure to radiant heat
radar#a system for detecting the presence, direction, distance, and speed of aircraft, ships, and other objects
red#of a color at the end of the spectrum next to orange and opposite violet

I'm learning programming, and C++. I've got a question, but I couldn't solve my problem so far. I need to use arrays and only basic stuff to solve this:
Create a program that reads a word from the user and then print (cout) this word on contrary. It's simple, I know, but I can't do it,. I've tried some stuff but I don't get how I will get the proper values to do this. All I know is that I can use variable.lenght().

My coin/money change code works when there can be an exact change each time, i.e. when the 1 cent option is available. However, when the change options are only $10, $5, $1, 25 cents and 10 cents, it does not give me what I want for instance, I wanted to get change for $237.80, I was expecting to get:
23 10's, one 5, two 1's and 8 dimes. However, the code below is giving me 23 10's, one 5, two 1's and 3 quarters (there is no option left for the 5 remaining cents).how to fix it?
Code:
#include<iostream>
#include<algorithm>
#include<vector>
using namespace std;
void change(double cents, int a[]);
int main() {
double Dollars;
double cents;

I am having trouble in creating a program (named "up.c") that should do the following:
- if you run the command ("up") with no arguments, it should read input from stdin and display it on stdout, converting lowercase letters to uppercase.
- if you run the command with one or more files (as arguments to the "up" command), your program should read input from each file and display it on stdout, again converting lowercase letters to uppercase.
I'm trying to create a single program that can do both of these, and handle errors gracefully. I've found that some codes work to convert the letters, but they seem overly simple and aren't giving me what I'm looking for in my program.

#include <stdio.h>
main()

char text[200];
int i = 0;
int uppercase = 0;
