I'm new to programming and I have a question about scanning numbers from a .txt file into a .c file. I have an array that has 50 integers and I want to read in 50 numbers from a .txt file. What would I type in on the command line to get the array to read in the .txt numbers?

What I'm focused on is reading in the first three numbers which I already have with fscanf and then reading in BUY TICKET with the digit afterwards. My problem is that I don't know how to reach that part of the file without scanning in something I don't want to. Also, how would I scan the number after scanning BUY TICKET? Would it be something like using %s and %d right afterwards?

So i made a struct:

Where course code is the 4 numbers after the name together and the term is the letter and year in the last two pieces of info. I got this to work:

But lets say i dont know how many lines i have in my file and i want to count them and then use that size for my array so i tried this by:

But the second program is not working for unknown reasons. I do not get any errors but its not scanning the info because when i print the info later on it prints out random symbols.
I'm trying to read from a header file to take the image dimensions and other variables but I don't understand how to iterate through the "key" so it saves each line.
This is what the header file will always look like:

Ideally it would just skip the keys that aren't wanted and keep moving through the lines. Should there be a for loop for the key (and if so, how does that work with pointers?) or should this method just be scratched...

My question is to write a complete program that will search a file of numbers(numbers.txt) for the smallest and largest numbers and then write the values to the screen using a single pass through the file. File only contains type int and holds at least one int. My questions are am I reading in the first number correctly? Where would I read in the second number to compare to the current max and min?

My code is working all except one part I'm just completely stuck on and it's probably something simple. There are 14 numbers in the file. The way I have the code now it will tell me there are 14 which is correct but it displays my low number as 0 and it should be 6. If I change if(infile) to if(infile >> num) it will read the correct low number as 6 except now it says there's only 13 numbers and it's not reading the first number in the file which is 23 so it skews the whole program.

The last number in the numbers.txt file is: -1, and I am not allowed to include it in the calculation of total, average, etc.
I tried to make an if statement to not include -1 but, I can't figure it out. This compiles with or without my num == -1 statement.

I think it comes from having to align the data in the output file. How to start this is to use a function to read in all the characters using a while loop. Then read in all the digits in a separate function. When it comes to outputting the data in the correct format I'm lost, so for now if I could figure out the functions that would be awesome. A final note we have not gotten to using strings so the I'm trying to use getc, fgetc, and ungetc.
Write a program to compute average grades for a course. For example:
the number 204601324 is stored in a file. I know how to open a file from terminal, but the issue is reading the individual numbers. The first number is weight class (2). My program has to display that number as the Variable "weightClass." how do I get it to do that? In addition, miles allowed is the number "0460."
