Jan 29, 2014How do i search a csv file?. I have a table with 3 columns (Employee ID , salary ,grade ) If i will enter an Employee ID and it should return the salary and grade of that employee id.

with list of 38 bones.
This is my main.cpp:

For action, if user enters action, it will output the bones involved with that action.
For strengthening, if user enters location, it will output bones involved with that location.

How I could search in csv file for these.

That is the line number of the line, 5 columns wide, right justified, followed by a colon, followed by the contents of the line.
And this is what I've got so far:

But this doesn't work. It prints everything in the file, not just the lines where the string is found.
C++ :: Banking System - Searching For And Printing Values From TXT File
Mar 21, 2013So I'm doing a kind of banking system. Atm I've got the user able to create an account and set the balance of it, which is written to a .txt file. However, I would like the user to be able to enter their account no. and the program to cout the account info on the screen. I will be adding more to the program later, but until I work out how to search for values in a .txt file, and print out values on that line I'm a bit stuck.

Nov 26, 2013Program background: Ticket Sales Details You will sell tickets in advance and at the door. Prices for buying in advance and at the door will be given. Also, the total number of tickets sold in advance will be given. Each guest will have a unique number. If there are n tickets sold in advance, then these guests will be numbered 0 through n-1. As the event starts, requests to buy tickets at the door may be made and these guests will be numbered sequentially, starting at the lowest unassigned number. The maximum number of guests will be 1000. The first line of the file contains the following three values, separated by spaces: Cost of the presales tickets (in dollars), Cost of the tickets at the door (in dollars), and the number of presale tickets. The first two values will be positive real numbers to two decimal places and the last will be a positive integer.
The second line of the file will contain one positive integer representing the number of auction items followed by a positive real value to two decimal places (at most) representing the minimum bid increment, in dollars. The first value is guaranteed to be 1000 or less and the second will be in between 1 and 50, inclusive.
The third line of the file will contain all the prices of the auction items, in dollars, separated by spaces, in order. Thus, the first price is the price of item 0, the next price is the price of item 1, and so on. These values will be real numbers represented to up to 2 decimal places.
The fourth line of the file will contain the three following positive integers pertaining to the raffle: the number of raffle tickets available, the cost of a raffle ticket in dollars, and the number of raffle prizes. (It's strange to have raffle tickets that don't cost a whole number of dollars.)
The fifth line of the file will contain each of the values of the raffle items, in dollars, separated by spaces, in order. Thus, the first price is the price if item 0, the next price is the price of item 1, and so on. These values will be real numbers with upto 2 decimal places.
The sixth line of the file will contain ten positive integers representing the number of each of the drinks 0 through 9, in order, that are in stock.
The seventh line of the file will contain ten positive real numbers with upto 2 decimal places representing the price of each of the drinks 0 through 9, in order.
The eighth line of the file will contain a single positive integer, numEvents, representing the number of events that occur at the charity ball. These events are split into two groups: actions by guests at the ball and awards given (raffle, auction, person, totalrevenue). All of the actions precede all of the awards. You will produce exactly one line of output for each event described. Here are the formats of each event that could occur:
If a patron buys a ticket at the door, a command will be on a line by itself:
BUY TICKET k
where k is a positive integer indicating the number of tickets bought at the door. These guests will be numbered as previously mentioned. You are guaranteed that the total number of tickets bought, including presales, will not exceed 1000. This is what I have so far and I cannot figure out why it wont calculate the total revenue. I am not completely sure if it is even accessing the if statement in main.

C# :: Searching DB For Value In Textbox (WPF)

I have a window that has a textbox to enter a name to search a database table for, and when the search button is clicked, the ID for that username will be returned to a separate textbox. The code I've written atm doesn't seem to be working, but it looks fine to me. Here's what I've got;

So, I have the value entered into the textbox to be searched for stored in a variable, I'm selecting the ID from the table when the name in the variable is found, storing the result in a DataTable, and then in my foreach loop, if I find the name (the name column being index 1 in the table), I set set the ID result textbox to equal the ID for that name (the ID column being index 0 in the table). I think the foreach part is what's throwing me off. Maybe the column stuff? My Users table is like;

C++ :: Functions Searching A Database
Aug 8, 2013I am trying to write a program to search a library file with the name of a book or author and return the books that match the searched string in some way. For instance, if I search "Develop" it should display Game Development Essentials(Novak) and Developing Games in Java(Brackeen) and tell me that 2 records were found. Currently, it shows all the records regardless of what i search for, even if it is jibberish. Am I missing something in my functions? should I include the code that accesses these functions?

From my understanding I have to make a templated ordered array (which I don't understand at all) and then do searches (which I also don't understand).
C++ :: Binary Searching By A Key Containing Two Variables?
Nov 24, 2014So I have an array of distinct pairs of natural numbers. That is, my array looks something like this (for instance):
{ (1,5) , (6,4), (5,3), (2,3), (2,4) }
And my task is, for a given pair (a,b) find (if it exists) the pair (c,d) which has c > a and d > b and, in addition, is the "minimal" such pair (that is, c is minimal and, if there are multiple pairs which satisfy this with the same c, then d is minimal.
So for instance, if I run the query for the above array for pair (1,1), it should return (2,3) and if I feed it (5,2) it should return (6,4).
Now the problem is that I have to run multiple queries so linear time is not good enough. And my question is: is there any way in / any law by which I can "sort" such an array so that I can later run binary searches on it to find my answer?
I was thinking I could simply go like this: let (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) be two pairs to compare. Then:

else if(x1==x2 && y1<y2)
//pair 1 is smaller

//pair 2 is smaller
This seemed to solve most cases, however.. if I have an array which looks like this:
{ .... (50,60) ..... }
where (50, 60) is at the middle of the array. And I run a query for (40,70) for instance. The problem is that the pair that I want to find could be either on the left or on the right of (50,60) (we could have something like (45,90) on the right of (50, 60), but then again we could only have (x,10) on the left of (50,60) where x<50 so no pair on the left would satisfy our condition and I'd have to look to the right).
So to sum it up, if I'm running a query for pair (x1,y1) and through my binary search I come across and element (x2,y2) which has x1<x2 and y1>=y2, then my algorithm cannot decide whether it should keep searching left or right. So I have to search both sides and in a worst case scenario this ends up being O(n).
C++ :: Searching Vector With Maps?

It only lets me search for the exact key in the directory when I need to to search for strings that are close to the name. For example when I search "car" it will state that its not in the directory when it should pull up Carr, Derek and Carr David.

Oct 12, 2013Basically I initialize an int array of size 10 with zeros. Then element 7 is changed to 1. Via cin I collect a user input (integer) which is the number to be searched.
Now the problem is that the search function from the book is somehow not working. I added a function to see how the array looks like and there is definitely one element with value 1 that should be found, but it simply isn't. The function always returns -1 (element not found).
The program compiles, but doesn't work as it is supposed to.

My issue is, if I type in either one of the first two id numbers, it finds the person and displays as it's supposed to, however if I type any of the last 6 id numbers it says id not found. Dec 17, 2014i use cygwin and i have a program that was returning an error saying "undefined reference" and i figured out that i misspelled a word. how can i search for the misspelling in the input mode, if ive just completed a very large program and dont want to scroll through possibly 300+ lines of input? im not totally out the loop, but i know i can "vim program.cpp" to open the program, but before clicking "i" to actually edit, there must be a way to search a word

C/C++ :: File I/O - Reading Values From File
Jan 28, 2014I am trying to write a program that will open a file with 2 points, take those points, determine what quadrant those points are in, and save the result back into the same file without truncating the data.
I'm having some trouble with my file I/O. I can't get my program to read the two values for X and Y that I put in the points.txt file. It simply uses whatever random number was used last time in that block of memory. In my points.txt file I put something like "4 -5" and it wont assign those numbers to my X and Y variables. I believe the issue is on line 25
